Onewheel vs LaCroix vs Evolve
มุมมอง 51K5 ปีที่แล้ว
A hands on review/comparison between these three boards. I do highlight the Onewheel and LaCroix more than the Evolve here. Also, rather than focusing on specs and I talk more about what it’s actually like to ride these different boards and what the pros and cons can be. I hope you find it informative and helpful. Thanks for watching and enjoy!

In this video I'll give my thoughts on these two boards and how they compare from a consumer's perspective. I tried my best to keep it brief so I didn't delve too deep into all the specs of each board. I just tried to focus on the overall ride/user experience that I've had so far.

what wheels on the longboard? Dad bod?
Best looking production board ever. I have the jaws 2.0 but yours is the purdiest.Still riding it?
It was definitely an amazing board for its time. I did end up selling it a while back. Still kinda miss it… hope you’re enjoying the jaws.
what is the length of the board for this? 5:11
I tried kick pushing a Lonestar
Just picked this up at pawn shop for 81 out the door, first electric board 😅🎉
Try flipping your rear trucks around, it improves handling
I've actually never rode even a regular skateboard but I'm looking to get an e skateboard for commuting and I'm actually considering the Lacroix Jaws. I know it's a powerful machine so I will definitely ease into it slow till I get the hang of it but I want something that rides nice and stable with good speed and acceleration to keep up with traffic
You quickly mentioned it in the video review. But what electric skateboard do you ride there ?
Does it smoothes the bumps as well? Do you think it would work on a mountainboard ? Thanks for the video
Water board sells carbon extension plates that flex and work really well for adding some suspension feel, especially if combined with some silicone riser pads. Most mountain boards have a proprietary bolt pattern for their trucks though
i think its a great combo for the longboard!
Thanks for the review!
Great vid! It doesn’t seem like the newer versions are much of an up grade. Did u get one of the newer versions and what differences do u think? Newer boards r bigger n heavier.
Thanks. I've ridden some of their newer boards but don't own one. The newer ones do have some awesome features. Even more power and range to name a few. They are heavier though, so a buyer would need to keep that in mind. So much of finding the best board for you is knowing what you're gonna use it for. The newer models are pretty amazing for longer distance rides and great stability at high speeds. I wouldn't really recommend them for short trips to the cover store. The ones I owned were a pretty awesome mix of power, range, stability at speed and not super heavy. But if course the newer models beat it out with higher specs and other cheaper boards are still good and even lighter. Just kinda depends on the use case scenario as to which is the better option.
Your deck setup is on point. I like full using the full Waterborne setup (front/rear) with TKPs on a 9-10" wide board with a 17-19" wheelbase (inside truck mount to inside truck mount) and a kicktail. I'm using it on an Alva Aggression Fish 17" wheelbase, and also just put another set on my Backfire G3 with the Waterborne front carbon plate.
Sounds like you have a sweet set-up there. Nice👍
Rear trucks are still on backwards though
@@sageoz9886 Where? Link to the spot in the video.
@@scrooner lol sorry I feel that everyone has their rear trucks on backwards. If you are using the surf adapter on the front, you don’t need your trucks cutting wide. By flipping the rears to face with your fronts, you’ll gain huge stability at speed, better cornering and a more surf like feel when carving.
@@sageoz9886What the frick are you talking about?! Flipping trucks makes no sense whatsoever, regardless of context.
This is better than our videos
Thanks for the compliment. I'm loving my surf and rail adapter. You guys make an awesome product. Keep up the good work👍
@@yoursource3170 If you are interested in a new technology to experement with, you should really consider the FIN System. We just released it and are taking pre orders!
Looks cool. What’s it like compared to a c7 or meraki? I like that you mention it’s quality. Do you think it could hold up to ollies? I like that motorized one. 🤙
I'm honestly not super well versed in surf skates. I'm just getting into them. I've never ridden a meraki but I have tried out a c7 that a friend of mine has. From my very brief time on the c7 I would say the waterborne is easier to pump and turn sharply but I did really like the mix of stability and carve on the c7. I think I might enjoy the c7 more than the waterborne if I were cruising longer distance on an analog setup. But I love the waterborne if I'm looking to either stay in a small area and practice sharp and snappy carves or ride an electric board for longer distance. I feel confident the waterborne would stand up to abuse quite well including ollies. Doing ollies would take some getting used to though with the rail adapter and the weight of the surf skate adapter would not make that ideal I would think. It's probably possible though with a bit of practice. Hope that info helps.
How is ur lacroix
I ended up selling it a few years back. Not because I got tired of it, in fact I still genuinely miss that board, but because at the time it the best decision financially. Of all the boards I’ve ridden personally it’s still one of my all time favorites. When I sold it my LaCroix was still in great condition and the last time I checked with the buyer it’s still going strong. Currently I’m riding a BKB duo which I also enjoy. I’ve been meaning to do a proper review of it but haven’t been able to yet.
Looks awesome
What I like about the onewheel is extactly what you said: It’s built like a tank. I don’t have to worry for the most part about damaging parts. They’re replaceable for a cheaper price if you choose from one of the great third party options for parts and accessories.
Onewheel = Sidewalk/park smasher LaCroix = Performance high speed race longboard Evolve = Comfort comminuting. Little bit of both worlds.
On Onewheel. Hips forward hot head
The biassss. It hurtsss
The one wheel just wins it all imo. Those two other boards without perfect conditions are pretty much useless. Some of the cities near me have terrible roads,
A.t wheels.... Four of them. stable trucks... lacroix has insane ranges up to 40-60 miles on a charge lmao
I need that helmet
Both are best. I take my one wheel for off-road and esk8 for street ripping!
Luv it!!! Where did you get the deck?
nevermind i heard where in the end. thx
That turning radius on the LaCroix is surprising. Kind of a deal-breaker. I have had the OneWheel XR since summer 2018 and like the simplicity of no controller and the magical floaty feeling. However, you can absolutely not speed on it! Going beyond max. rated speed just causes nosedive without hardly any warning. I've had more than one suspected scaphoid fracture as a result of pushing the OneWheel too far. I highly recommend Flexmeter D30 wristguards and Bern Watts or similar medium speed helmet. 12-15 mph to the store is fine. Lugging the board around the store is a bit annoying. I have had the Boosted Stealth since early 2020 (right before they closed) and absolutely love it. Using the remote to both slow to a halt (and hill hold) as well as throttling further back for reverse is so handy for 3-point turns. I went 8 miles once without ever having to get down. In fact, sometimes I relax and loosen up by swaying back and forth doing tricks and burnouts. Reverse is important to me. BUT, it has only 85mm wheels. Wooden bridges are doable but no fun. It is an absolutely beautifully designed board and a real shame the company went out of business. If they were still around and making an AT version, I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Just this week bought the Evolve GTR and am honestly underwhelmed. Responsiveness in GTR mode meets or exceeds the Boosted Stealth, but the remote takes some getting used to. From what I've read, the trick is to never ever drop the remote or else the separate braking button could randomly engage braking at high speed. The acceleration curve is VERY saggy in lower modes and almost too touchy in GTR mode. Lack of reverse bothers me. Every time I hit a dead-end, I have to get off, pick the thing up or kick it sideways to turn. It's a shame because the trucks are so incredibly steer-able. On a two-lane road, if I lean full in, I could probably turn, but that's not the move I am used to. On the Boosted, I just do the 3-point and whiz off. I was considering returning the Evolve and getting a Lacroix Nazare, but seeing it in action makes me realize it's more for carving straightaways and dirt hills than tight turns in urban environments.
The miles sx panther pro has a 40mile range, belt driven and 30mph top speed and the double kingpins the evolve has and its full carbon fiber for $1,350
Dude, I’ve been looking for just a tiny video glimpse of a lacroix breake check .... thank you so much 👍🏼
You could have talked about range etc as its one of the key differences
My wife and I absolutely love our onewheels! So fun. I just scored a summerboard and am really digging it.
which one wheel?
@@fsflip3111 We had the originals and now we have the XRs. I have tried the pint and I don't see the appeal of it. The XR goes 18 miles on a charge and is really powerful. I put the flight fins on a bolt on fender and I feel super secure flying off of curbs and hopping over little holes and stuff. Great board.
@@fsflip3111 I just got a "summrrboard" which is the funnest thing ever but it's less practical for running errands and commuting than the XR
@@donnyh3497 would you take that over a solid eskateboard or the xr?
@@fsflip3111 If I could only have 1 board I would grudgingly take the XR because even though it's not as fun as a summrrboard (nothing could be), it's loads of fun and it's really practical to jump on and run the the hardware store or to get a few groceries or a haircut or something. It is really casual for flying around at over 15mph and even going offroad and stuff. Luckily I can have as many electric boards as I want because there is absolutely nothing as fun as my summrrboard! But it takes a lot of hours of practice to get good on a summrrboard. As for a solid longboard....I can't imagine why anyone would want one.....but that's just me
What vest are you wearing! I love the design and color!
You mean my green jacket? It's actually an old 686 brand snowboarding jacket if mine. I have a mesh armored jacket beneath it.
Thank you! Probably impossible to find then :( Great video too!
evolve blows lol bajaboards op op
What is the draw to e-skate over other board sports? In my opinion its freedom. You are free to do it whenever the weather permits (but weather doesn't count since it affects all comparable sports equally). You can start from your house. And with a big enough battery, like on most LaCroix boards, you never get range anxiety because the battery lasts longer than you ever want to ride for. You don't have to go somewhere just to do it. Other board sports are limited to particular locations and/or seasons like: Surfing: beach, kite surfing: beach/lake/large river, snowboarding: mountains+winter, wake-boarding: river, downhill longboarding: limited to decending hills, etc.
I got a onewheel X-r. But I wanna try this other shit
onewheel all day!!!
What’s the price difference
Unfortunately you can't compare the onewheel with anything, its in a league of its own!

What happened to uploading your kaly videos?
Sorry I wasn't able to get around to it and I've sold this board since then. It was great but I can't afford to keep so many boards so I try to buy and sell some to allow me to try different ones out for a while. At this point I believe there are quite a few videos out there with newer versions of kaly boards. Thanks.
@@yoursource3170 what was the difference in power from your lacroix? How did it turn compareded to it aswell?
@@bobbyz3288 There are different versions of the kaly of course and also different versions of lacroix as well. But between the kaly I had and the lacroix I had the lacroix had more power and I also really loved carving on that board. It was honestly one of the most comfortable boards I personally have ever ridden. They don't make the prototipo model anymore but you might be able to find one used. Both boards are great though, I just happen to prefer the lacroix. Just my opinion.
Thank you!
Have you tried summerboard?
I’ve got almost 1,000 miles on my XR & had it for about 4 months lol. I can’t wait for the next gen, where hopefully it’ll have 25+ mile range, suspension, & cruzing speeds of 20mph, so a top speed bump of 25mph... hopeful, but the electric unicycle & electric skate boards are all around there in specs, so it a possibility!
I'm right around 250 miles on 3rd month. I agree, if they upgrade the speed, power, range, suspension, that's an instant buy. I'm gonna get a long board soon to try it out.
Esk8's pushed 40mph over two years ago. onewheel could push 35 if they wanted. a carbon fiber super esk8 that goes over 35 mph and has a 35mile range costs less then a machined metal single motor onewheel and its sad i feel like its a rip off and greedy despite a cool product
@@liammeigs4815 not sure how you’d fit another motor in a onewheel 😂 but I get what you’re saying. That said I skipped the next gen onewheel and got a motorcycle instead 😂🤘🏽
Where is the filming location of this vid? Beautiful place.
Tell me about the helmet you have on
It's the TSG Pass helmet. Pretty popular in the eskate scene. Nice looking helmet. I really like it but it's a bit pricey and does not offer the same protection as a full on motorcycle helmet but it's still pretty good on safety and I like the lower profile. I forget it's actual safety rating but you can look it up online. Hope that helps.
Pronounced: La-quah. But yeah. Evolve is good, actually great. Lacroix is just a whole other level of HOLY CRAP what the hell did I just ride. Price is not for the faint of heart. But is that way next level ride. Ride on Sir on them bomb ass boards.
Great job. I'm looking at getting the Lacroix or Metroboard X, and this information was really helpful :)
Happy I could help.

This comparison make no sence.os like comparisong Toyota with Lamborghini x o know this is old so Comoare the Verreal RS with that evolve and see what's good... nice video tho.
How much for that helmet?
It's the TSG Pass helmet. Price can vary depending on model and retailer. It's a bit expensive but I do like the helmet.
