@@tomasinacovell4293 Hi, i have given tip in this review to fix over heating, did you tried to disable CPU performance boost? There is no way you can get Over heating issues with Core Performance Boost disabled.
An RTX 4090 OC or T is not suitable for this? what can you recommend to use for a mini pc?.
@@JolandaVerHagen-r9j Hi, The AG02 has been updated with a 500 Watt PSU, so it can now support all cards, RTX 4090 included.
@Ghost-Keyboard Which USB port can I connect it to on the mini PC?
@ Oh, USB4 type C, it s the Thunderbolt EGPU Type.
You should have connect the thunderbolt to aostar eGPU 4:03, instead of the NVME eGPU.
@@w2385-i2s Hi, Why? I already made a video about the AG02 Thunderbolt Vs Oculink.,The TishRic 40GB/s was giving me a better host to device connection speed than the Aoostar Thunderbolt
We can clearly see at 2:35, you only powered two 8pins of 4080. Did you later powered the 3rd 8pin before running the test? Or left the 3rd 8pin unpowered?
@@SydneyMud Hi, Sure i did, the RTX 4080 S won t work with only 2 X 8 Pins, i made dedicated video for EGPU set-up with the RTX 4080 S with detalied step by step. You can find this video on my channel.
many people have said this is really hdmi 2.1 even though it is listed as 2.0 can you confirm if this can in fact run a 4k 120 signal form the hdmi please. thanks
Hi, Sorry but i can not confirm that the HDMI ports are 2.1. Where have you read that HX99G HDMI 2.0 ports are 2.1?
@Ghost-Keyboard a few people on reddit that have the hx99g say they are indeed getting 4k 120hz from the port I just need to make sure
@ if the admin of R/HX99G said so then it is true otherwise i ll will be cautious if random reddit comment or user mention it without confirmation by multiple other users.
@Ghost-Keyboard yeah its just a few random people on reddit who say theirs is outputting 4l 120 signal. if i get confirmation it 100 percent is then i will buy it, i just need to make sure first
@ Sorry for not being able to confirm that, i have my doubts on the validity of such comments.

@@ll_spud Hi, i am glad you enjoyed the video. 😀🙏
This review is everything i wanted to know about this mini pc, I am a console gamer and would like to install bazzite os on this for a more console like experience, I prefer 60fps but don't mind 30 if the graphics are good, split between this and the atom man g7 pt but that is a little bit expensive
Thanks. I was missing a step, and a few other things too. lol
The AI voice is insufferable
Hi, i tried to correct that in my last 2 publication with a far better A.I voice Over, sorry about the inconvenience.
Voice over on this video sounds odd, almost AI
Hi, you are right, it is an A.I voice Over, note that in my last 2 publication i have upgraded the A.I voice Over which is in my opinion a much better quality A.I Voice Over
i have a 300$ ,Budget for EGPU + GPU, i don t know if it is enough to get something decent to run my fav games at high setting, League of legends, Apex; Valorant
Will it run Windows Flight simulator 2020? If 2024 is too much?
Hi, Sorry i can t tell
Thanks, i ve got the Minisforum UM790 Pro with the 780M, i expect the same performance when i ll get my Pico Headset.
Hi, Yes it should have the same performances with the same Hardware specs
Black Myth Wukong is not that hard, u r lacking skillz that's all!
Hi, thank you very much for the information you provide in this video. But I have a question: does the processor that comes with this Ryzen 7 8845HS computer have an AI NPU? I don't understand why this mini PC is not promoted with AI features when GeeKom or Beelink are promoted with AI with the same processor. I would appreciate it if someone could help me with my question.
@@ursie101 Hi, Yes the K8 PLUS comes with the exact same CPU with the same A.I Capacity. A.I NPU is at this stage much more a marketing stunt than a real utility in your every day usage of your system, however it is kind of " Future Proof" as the upcoming next FSR version will use A.I for upscaling, so owners of A.I NPU will get a premium FSR usage compared to the owner of an AMD 7840 for exemple. GMKtec is manufacturing it s own Products whereas Beelink, Minisforum, ect are Brands and are relying on third party manufacturers to build their Mini PC, so from the get go they were more into Marketing than GMKtec which is relying on its low cost and production edge to sell its unit. But yes GMKtec could have push the A.I narrative like AceMagic is doing at the moment with some of their models. Note that Geekom is in my opinion the most overpriced Mini PC Brand, you are paying a premium price just to get a White/Beige case.
@Ghost-Keyboard Hello! I really appreciate your time in answering. I had a lot of doubts because this GMKtec is almost 200 dollars cheaper than the GeeKom A8. But thanks to your explanation I will buy the GMKtec!
They have a new model with 500w psu but I want to know if it will work with Intel arc b580
@@kingleonel2098 Hi, Nice GPU Choice 😀, yes it will works but it will run at PCIE 4 speed, Power Wise there is no issue as the ARC B580 is 225W and the New AG02 has a 500 PSU. If you want to take advantage of the ARC B580 PCIE 5 then you should look at ADT-LINK F43SG-TU-BK7 which is PCIE 5 NVME M2 EGPU Dock, you can find NVME to Oculink Adaptor if you mind, In theory you should have less performance loss
@Ghost-Keyboard damn then is not for me I'm looking for thunderbolt I need commodity because I travel and all that stuff is too much so the AGO2 for thunderbolt is my best option
I really appreciate this review amigo. I was not expecting for it to be so thorough, like testing the low/mid/high settings on the iGPU. It made for a better idea of performance 👍 PS - just subbed!

Who is also in the "E GPU" drinking game?
"Gaming King in 2025" 1. 2025 not started yet ,early conclusion/ win announcement ? 2. New Definition of "King" ?( You rated it just 8/10 , one of the best and still call a king ??) 3. Lots of better options honestly Better luck next time For a success clickbait attempt you have my view and comment 😂
@@frankwong9486 Hi, you are being picky, it s fine though, i didn t say "THE Gaming King" but "A Gaming King", there is a nuance, the HX99G is not the King of Hardware Specs but is the king of Value in the Mini PC Market regarding Price/Graphic performance ratio.
@Ghost-Keyboard Gpu came out in 2021, it's just a 1080p mid settings pc, with a strange 4 pin power supply, it's definitely not cheap neither. But if you like it that's all good. I have the hx77g and the um890pro with a 4080 suits my needs.
If you have watched the game test you would have seen High to Ultra setting above 60 FPS, Define Medium setting and then define High setting at 1080P and tell me me why for exemple my STALKER game test is not High Setting at 1080P. Good luck trying to make sense saying that High/Ultra 60 FPS setting is not High setting BUT Medium setting.
Hello again, maybe you could make a video of how HX99g works with egpu (there is no such video on yt), the computer has usb4 so there would be no problem connecting e.g. ONEXGPU or GPD G1. Have a nice day 😊
@@mikoajwojtasnielsen3686 Ah ah, i have already tried it with an RTX 4080 with an NVME M2 EGPU, you can find my post on Reddit, but yes it is a good idea to make a video with the Egpu as you are right it hasn t been done yet on YT, the 6900HX is a pretty powerfull CPU so performanca loss is minimal
@Ghost-Keyboard I've just read your post on Reddit and it's quite interesting, although I expected some list of FPS games before and after. But thanks for doing something like this. And how did you connect the HX99g to the RTX 4080? USB4 or NVME M2? If the second option, how to connect NVME M2 to HX99G? An instructional video would also be useful🎄🙂👌
@ i won t recommend to mimic my set up, I Have used an MVME M2 EGPU to connect my EGPU to the HX99G PCIE, it required to leave the case open to dust, it is o.k for testing, but it is not a long term set up, Thunderbolt EGPU is a better option but it will come with a bigger Performance loss than the NVME M2 EGPU. Overall i would not recommemd EGPU set up with the HX99G unless it is temporary. The performance boost moving to an EGPU set-up with the HX99G ain t attractive.
@Ghost-KeyboardI read your post too great work, is it possible to use minisforum deg1 docking station? Will it be using thunderbolt or nvme.
@@smoothshutter Hi, No you won t be able to use the DEG1 as it is an Oculink EGPU, unless you buy an NVME M2 to Oculink adaptor.

@azizimran8805 Thanks you, i will look into it, sure i bought the K8 PLUS for its Oculink, i am waiting the price of the GPU drop after Nvidia release its 5000 serie to get a GPU and an EGPU 😁
@@freedomisdead9638 I doubt prices will get lowered by any meaningful amount. Personally I'm waiting for Strix Halo, but price will probably be very steep, so I might end up getting the G7 Pt. Let's see what 2025Q1 brings us.
@@heffeque I hope you ll be proven wrong, i hope the RTX 4070 could drop to 400$ or under, My guess is that Strix Halo would be insanely overprice at release, you may have to wait 2026 before getting at at fair value. Good luck

@@jorgedavidfeitovillar8745 😄 Hola, muchas gracias por su complimento.
th-cam.com/video/NfxgQO3ErjQ/w-d-xo.html @GhostKeyboard I think you missread the benchmark values: ~6400MiB/s isn't 64Gbit/s, but more 6.4 GBytes/s (notice the décimal position, and more the major "B"). so x8 in order to have Bandwith in Gbits/s (notice the minor b) = ~51.2 Gbits /sec (for the oculink connection) and ~3600MiB/s = 3.6GBytes/s, so x8 = ~28.8Gbit/s (for the ThunderBolt4 connection). Which is still great, but more realistic (an interface bandwidth is always a maximum theorical value that can't be easily reached in practise, because lost always occurs).
Did i said that 6400MB was equal to 64GB? Oh!!! That was a mistake then. 6400MB is something like 50GB, you will never get the Full 64GB Bandwidth with the Oculink and neither you would get the 40 GB with Thunderbolt in an EGPU set-up, the best speed i am seeing is 3600MB .
can you share the model of the NVME to Thunderbolt converter enclosure ? is it ACASIS 40 GBps ?
@@gerrygumelarkarmana4065 Hi, Sure the model is "TishRic" 40GB TB3/TB4 compatible, i got it on Aliexpress for 35-40$
@Ghost-Keyboard do you get, good score on read and write while using this converter ? AFAIK score for 40GBps around 3600 Mbps right ?
@@gerrygumelarkarmana4065 Yes, Each connection speed have been mesured and it is in the video.
Do you know if the psu is a standardised size, maybe some specific server form factor? Their renewed 500w + PD version could be really nice, but I wonder if we can repair/replace/upgrade it years down 😅
@@Beryesa. Hi, i am not sure, but the Previous AG02 had a modular 350 Flex PSU, i have opened the unit and it was replaceable. a Reddit user had received a default unit and the PSU was cooked, Aoostar sent him a replacement PSU and a new case, so i can say that in his case the AG02 was repaired and that the PSU was replaced, i hope my answer is clarifying your questioning.
@Ghost-Keyboard now I saw one of the recent videos on their channel pulls it out right away in the promo, I guess it'll be great :D
@ i have seen that too, but it was on their MG02 (500 Watt) model, but since the AG02 have been upgraded i don t see why people would buy the MG02. Aoostar EGPU name branding is confusing, they should have call this new AG02, AG03 or AG02 PLUS, it is such a mess, still it is one of the best EGPU Design specially if you have White/Grey Colored Mini PC and GPU.
Hey are there any case to protect the gpu , I feel like putting it like this is very unsafe , aren’t there any case to keep the egpu and gpu safe while using it ?
@Tutrled Hi, Except Dust accumulation, i don t see any safety issue concerning tHE GPU, if you want a DIY enclosure, you will need to 3D print a case and add some cooling fan or you can by EGPU enclosure but they are generally less performant because they are PCIE 3.
they update for 500 watt ?
@@dragonyang7394 Hi, Yes they did, and USB 4 also support monitor display now, and the dock start automatically.

@@bittertruthnavin Hi, Thanks you but to be honest the A.I voice used in this video and others is bad, in my latest published video i have upgraded the A.I voice and it is 10 times better.
I heard you need a powerful GPU to run PCVR, well that is not true.
Hi gem12 or gmktec k8plus better Thks
@@MADCATULTRA Hi, both are high end specs Mini PC's, they are both showing the same performances in benchmarks, both Mini PC's are very quiet. The GEM 12 have a vapor chamber for cooling system while the GMKtec K8 PLUS has a classic dual heating pipes for cooling system, Vapor Chamber is a superior and more expenssive cooling system, nevertheless both models are showing excellent low temperatures at idle and under load. Interface is almost the same, both models offer Oculink port, main difference is that the GMKtec K8 PLUS is offering 2 X USB 4 whereas the GEM 12 have 2 X USB 4 but one USB4 port is reserved as a Power Port, so you only have one USB 4 available with the GEM 12. At this point, design and price should determine your purchase choice, what model design do you like the most? The GMKtec K8 Plus is 70$ cheaper for the same specs, usually people goes for the cheaper model for similar specs and quality. Personally i like the GMKtec having 2 X USB 4, but i also like the GEM 12 design that is matching my AG02 EGPU color and design. Now the choice is your.😀
where is the Mini Pc? Merry Christmas
What happens if you do not connect the 3rd 8pin of your 4080, and leave it unpowered? Will it work with just the two 8pin of the AG02? Thanks.
Hi, if you don t plug the third 8 pin PCIE Port then the RTX 4080 S will be under powered, and it won t start.
@Ghost-Keyboard I ordered an updated AG02. They said the inside psu is 500w instead of the old 400w. I asked them in Little Red Book, they said there will be 3 8pin outlet. But since this is not listed in the website, I cannot fully believe it is true, until they begin to ship the new batch on 15 Jan 2025. By then, if it is true. I will need to go 4070 ti super oc or 4080
@ Hi, i don t think Aoostar is lying when they say that they are providing 3 X 8 PCIE PIN cable, Aoostar advertise this EGPU as being able to hold every GPU in the market til RTX 4090. About the Choice between the RTX 4080 SUPER and the RTX 4070 TI Both are high end GPU, you ahould buy the one you can afford, just be sure to go for the "SUPER" models for these cards unless the non "SUPER" are at much better prices.
What graphics card did you use?
Hi, you may have skipped the video, because i have mentioned on several occasion that i was using an RTX 4080 SUPER, it s also listed in the Video description
@@Ghost-Keyboard thanks!
Man, thanks for this video. May be better use 2560x1440p resolution for testing ? This could allow comparing RTX 4080 super performance on Oculink with usual setup on pci-express 16x motherboard slot - will be super useful. Also, please, consider making tests just in native resolutions without DLSS ON - this is more demanding mode for VRAM and will show real diffeence between thunderbolt and oculink connections, try to use modes that overexceed actual GPU VRAM.

These AI voice overs are super annoying. I'd rather hear the speaker talking in their native language and just read the subtitles.
Hi, Sorry about the inconvenience, in my latest published video, i have an upgraded A.I Voice Over which is a big improvement in my opinion, have a nice Week-End.
Haben Sie etwas im BIOS eingestellt? Ich habe den Aoostar GEM12 mit dem Minisforum DEG1 verbunden und keine Grafikkarte wird erkannt. 3 verschiedene Grafikkarten getestet. Keine wird erkannt. Was kann ich tun?
Hi, i don't know, if you have watched the video and followed all the steps, then it should work.
No. The Dock turns on with the PC and than nothing 😢
@@flo1603 Do GPU fans spinning?
Yes they do.
@@flo1603 Are you sure that your HDMI cable is plugged into the GPU HDMI port? Does your monitor show a "Black Screen" or do you have a display?
Sounds like an AI generated voice
@@CDubya.82 Hi, that's right, it is an A.I Voice Over, but every words are mine, in my last publication i have upgraded the A.I Voice Over, and it s much better, sorry for the inconvenience
You can low the budget with the Quest3 S which is at 299$ ^^
Gracias
@@jorgedavidfeitovillar8745 Hi, Thanks you for your kind comment 😀, i am glad to hear that my tip helped you. About "Universal Utility X86" , i won't recommend you to use such software, as it will slow down your PC, and any mistake of setting could damage your P.C. If you still have temperature issues, you can open your PC and clean it by removing dust and eventually repaste the CPU thermal paste.
@Ghost-Keyboard de verdad que es un placer darte la gracias me has ayudado un montón y espero que más gente lo pueda ver y le puedas ayudar. Yo lo he compartido.
@@jorgedavidfeitovillar8745General rules to avoid PC damage is to not get into Bios or hardware tweaking if your PC works correctly, so if you don t have performance or temperature issues the safest thing to do is to do nothing. Undervolting CPU is controversial, i heard about micro damage on the motherboard that with time will break your device. Forcing Voltage beyond manufacturers recommendation should be done with knowledge and caution, things can go wrong.
@Ghost-Keyboard Great advice. Nice to see a channel dedicated to helping its viewers a lot. Very cool VR video btw. I'm about to buy this mini-PC and will get the eGPU dock later + VR headset later on 😀 Have u been satisfied w/ the eGPU dock btw?
@ Thanks you for your warm comment, it worth a lot to me to read such comment. About the EGPU, it is the OCUP4 and this model has been replaced by Ocup4 V2 which is supposed to have a better ridge, however the OCUP4 i've got is giving me the Maximum transfer speed rate for an Oculink connection, around 6300MB/S from Host to Device and Device to Host
I'm yet to try PCVR, but I've got the K8 Plus, an RTX 3090 and a Meta Quest 3. Will try tonight!
I want to try this aswell. I want to get a mini pc mostly for pcvr. Glad to see it works great.
Hey can you please check your mail. Thanks😊
Please make Pros and Cons mandatory in your review,s, Good review though
@@freedomisdead9638 Hi, Sure i'll try to made it mandatory.
To deal with the heat just buy a high rpm usb fan & point it to the mini pc 😂. Easy peasy
