Looks almost exactly the same as the cheap M7 (6850h) model. Btw, if you put stuff on top of the machine, you can break the lid, I think. I did put self adhesive furniture leg pads to the four corner of the top black plastic. The thinner 3mm felt type fits perfectly, doesn't interfere with the transparent lid and it supports the weight of stuff put top of the machine :)
@@unoqualunque77 For Switch you may have better performances with a stand alone emulator depending of the game, Retrobat should work fine though (Without FPS loss) with lower gen console emulator, but if you are using an EGPU with a dedicated Graphic Card (GPU) then Retrobat is fine with everything even Switch games as you will have more graphic Hardware ressource available.

It's a cool video, but I'm not sure why you're running FSR or DLLS in ultra performance mode. It looks terrible. I think DLLS or FSR to quality setting is the best option for boosting FPS with minimal loss of picture quality. Could you test it with ultra performance and quality for a couple of tests? I always choose quality mode and lower some graphic settings for a good-looking picture and good FPS when I want to play the game.

Also it increases all performance in Cinebench and others.
Oh Okay, you are talking about FSR, yes FSR is generally performing poorly specially on games developed with the collaboration of Nvidia, idk know which game you are refering too, but yes i will try lower upscalling if 60 FPS is not miles away. About TDP, Standard review are made at balance mode (54W), 70W isn t making much difference, i am an advocate of CPU Core Boost disabled in the Bios, i made videos (GMK M6) showing that 54 Watt is not giving significant performance boost compared to lower 20 Watt in gaming, the truth is that it all depend of your CPU and the Motherboard default setting, most of the Time, those extra Watt are wasted, and 70 Watt TDP will with time shorten your hardware lifespan by wearing more on component, also things can go wrong with high TDP. @@ursie101 Hi, Yes the K8 PLUS comes with the exact same CPU with the same A.I Capacity. A.I NPU is at this stage much more a marketing stunt than a real utility in your every day usage of your system, however it is kind of " Future Proof" as the upcoming next FSR version will use A.I for upscaling, so owners of A.I NPU will get a premium FSR usage compared to the owner of an AMD 7840 for exemple. GMKtec is manufacturing it s own Products whereas Beelink, Minisforum, ect are Brands and are relying on third party manufacturers to build their Mini PC, so from the get go they were more into Marketing than GMKtec which is relying on its low cost and production edge to sell its unit. But yes GMKtec could have push the A.I narrative like AceMagic is doing at the moment with some of their models. Note that Geekom is in my opinion the most overpriced Mini PC Brand, you are paying a premium price just to get a White/Beige case.

How would you rate this Mini PC compared to um890 with the 8945HS? does Minisforum is a safer buy, i am waiting for black friday sales for pulling the trigger but i won't mind paying a bit more for a better quality.
The 8945hs is virtually the same cpu/gpu the only thing that changes is 100mhz of boost and a higher base clock, but if you run a powerbank this is actually worse as it uses more power at idle.
If I have the eGPU cable connected to the K8+ but wanted to use the iGPU, do I have to remove the oculink cable? Or do I just keep the eGPU's power supply unplugged. (I'm aware the oculink is not hot-swap)

Hi, No you don t have to disable the IGPU in the Bios, note that you didable the igpu in Windows device manager in the display monitor tab, disabling igpu is optional and should be done if your egpu has poor performances or if your gpu is not detected.

For best standalone gaming performance you should get an "ai 9 hx 370" model Beelink has one and Minisforum also has one but they are both around $1000. Gmktec will release their own version next month, it will possible be slightly cheaper

@ I totally get it, i think some games tested in the K8 PLUS have also been tested in the M7 review, it may not be some solide references as thiose 2 models have been tested with different eGPU and it is not as good as a side by side game test but still you can get a glimpse of an idea of the performance difference, i think there is not much difference overall
@@Ghost-Keyboard M7 pro (6950h) is even more close to K8 plus (8845hs) than the M7 (6850h). M7 pro has higher cpu and igpu clock speed. But sure, 8845hs should outperform those M7 variants. M7 gets 13k points in cinebench r23 multicore. I already have two m7 and a k8 plus is on my way :) I think I will make a homelab cluster from the three machines. Usb4 ports can be used as thunderbolt p2p network with a simple cable between machines. I got 12.5Gbps real bandwith between two m7 under ubuntu. Fow AI stuff, 780m may have better AI support than 680m, but on windows LM Studio was able to use 680m too, but had similar result like its cpu based performance.

@@Alecup06 oh, i can t explain you everything in a single comment, but you don t need to buy something to connect to an egpu, the egpu comes with all the cable you need, you may need to buy a Power Supply Unit (PSU) to power your eGPU and GPU unless you buy an egpu like the Aoostar AG02 which have an integrated PSU. @@ishanayush1611 Hi, as you said that you are planning to build a new PC, The RTX 4070 can t possibly be a waste, The 4600H is PCIE 3 and a quite old CPU, so you can expect significant performance loss if you are using Thunderbolt type eGPU (20%-+30%) with PCIE 3 NVME or Oculink you can expect 15%-25% performance loss depending of the game, but the RTX 4070 is such a powerful GPU that you will even with performance loss have High/Max setting gameplay ecperience.

Hi, as there is some power management going through the Oculink cable, i wouldn t let the Oculink cable plugged.
