Dave Snowden Causal model assumptions and Dialogic methods don't work
excerpt from th-cam.com/video/uXvWQzGcNCo/w-d-xo.html
@thecynefincompany
transcript:
but we know that you can't study human beings in terms of creating predictive mechanisms
this has always been my objection to things like a lot of Sociology
which is it tries to adopt a causal model
if I can find these levers and pull these levers it will produce that effect
now I knew that didn't work before we even got into the science of it
and the assumption is if you just give people all the right information and tell them how bad things are some somehow or other they will suddenly change their mindset
yeah and magically the world will work
if I can find these levers and pull these levers it will produce that effect
I don't like the sort of dialogic methods because they heavily rely on a facilitator and they're not naturalistic in the sense they've been part of a natural process of dialogue
if I can find these levers and pull these levers it will produce that effect
because they heavily rely on a facilitator
you're trying to break from dichotomies into dialectics always, right
but you're trying to make that some something which is a distributed function of people's day-to-day work
not something which requires workshops facilitation
which is nearly always imposed by somebody from an external culture
privileging the people who match your expectations
if I can find these levers and pull these levers it will produce that effect
and that Enlightenment model of the rational decision maker
if only you give them the right information
oh and by the way if they don't pay attention to it you hit them with it harder and harder and make it worse and worse
that just isn't the way that human beings evolve to make decisions
if I can find these levers and pull these levers it will produce that effect

    This is so fascinating. I would like to ask though as one takeaway that I got from it is, that one side of this dissociation does not accept and can’t be integrated and also that several sides split should one attempt integration leading to put more resistance up to integrate, so my conclusion is that it can be ‘dangerous’ to do this work as one can build more resistance?

    The way she wriggles around is pathetic. He’s not guilting you for being a woman or calling you lesser, it’s just a matter of fact. She asks, “why must women act this way” there is no “must”, it’s just they do. It’s no different than why we men use physical aggression more, it’s our nature and there’s no changing that. Women can use their skill set for good things, or they can use them for everything that was listed in the toolbelt for bullying they have. While we men can use our aggression or assertiveness for good, we can also use it to hurt ppl unjustifiably. To echo what Jordan said, “ppl aren’t good or evil, they are both”. If you don’t like being called a petty gossiper, or character assassinator, then simply stop.

    When I was working in female dominated and mixed gender fields, I would regularly have different women in my office upset, crying and telling me about the bullying that is going on among the women in the workplace. Mostly it was the self proclaimed feminists who were the worst bullies of women. On the other hand, the men were quite happy workers.

      I'm leaning on RG having Schizoid traits (Cluster A PD), which can look a lot like BPD when they get flooded or enmeshed with someone else. They tend to have difficulties with social demands and expectations, so they can socially mask quite well but have gigantic issues with falling into other's people's frames.

    I had my first child at 36 and my third and last at 42 years of age. I was a fully grown adult when I was presented with motherhood challenges . I had to take responsibility for their safety without expecting my supporting system to do it for me. No one to blame. I had to wake up and live in reality. I can see how this was life changing for my kids, when I became safe. Unfortunately, most women can’t afford taking time off to process life, think and take accountability and it’s badly reflected in motherhood and how they mess up their children being children themselves.

  • @damanodrama
    @damanodrama 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

    My theory is that women stop their development in teenage years when confronted to early romantic trauma. Women’s growth is stunted by the unsafe society and financial demands placed on upon them way too early. Without the protection and safety of authority and institutions women are unable to grow and it reflects in motherhood.

    • @VisceralGravitas
      @VisceralGravitas 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'm quite fond of ISTDP which has been described as modern version of psychoanalysis, maybe a bit more advanced due to it's real time nature and the therapist actively working as a transference canvas. With traditional psychoanalysis, I've heard of people who can get stuck in it for years or decades, that might be due to excess and looping personal explorations unlinked to emotional content within a relational frame (ISTDP actively addresses this)

    • @KyriakosChri

      @@VisceralGravitas Thanks for replying! Did not mean it only as a psychotherapeutic modality, but as a psychological system/set of theories altogether (describing psychological phenomena, drives behind behaviors etc.) Do you think psychoanalysis is useful & 'legit' or unfounded?

    • @VisceralGravitas
      @VisceralGravitas 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @KyriakosChri I think I still use lots of psychoanalysis theories and models, I might lean more on Object Relations by Klein and DW Winnicott, and Jung's contributions which are spin offs of psychoanalysis. The limitation of psychoanalysis might be when it becomes endless self reflection years on end, which ISTDP actively tries deal with. So, I find psychoanalysis useful.

I liked a bunch of posts on narcissistic abuse and some narcissistic healing recovery coach dms me and tells me to join his program/session/course. That's so predatory. This is an interpretation of winnicott in a more general across the whole of childhood way. Winnicott describes more detail, and tends to emphasize the third point over the first two, as winnicott focuses on the early years including and especially as a baby. This summary is more of a post 18-months version. It works as winnicott though, as long as you include all three and probably add that in order to do all three you need to accept you have a mind with craziness too, that you have some craziness and darkness and hatred and thats okay, its not who you are or how you will organise your life but it is there - like everyone else.

    Women are abusive, controlling, manipulative, devious, calculating, vicious, nasty and all women know that. But never admit it. A collective conspiracy of silence. They used their sexuality to control and subjugate their gullible male slaves. They are not the lovely precious delicate creatures they would have us all believe. They are ruthless in getting what they want. Far more psychologicaly damaging than men. But they don't leave any bruises. This woman is obviously peddling the old feminist mantra. That old chestnut Very defensive because she knows he's drilling right on the nerve. And she doesn't like it. You only have to look at how they paint their faces to know what you're dealing with. War paint. Whore paint. Highly deceptive.
