I used your custard recipe with store bought phyllo. Delicious! The semoina gives it a unique texture and makes it more hearty. My son wanted to just eat it like a pudding and I bet this would make a great base for things like bread pudding and other things with or without the semolina. I have made custards before and I like that a lot of people have realized that starting from the beginning by mixing and slowly heating everything works just as well as tempering hot milk into eggs....much easier. I am going to try the homemade phyllo this week. Thank You for a quick and easy explanation that makes me think it isn't as hard as it looks.

Made this and the flavour was fantastic. A real chocolate lovers dream. However the cake was absolutely saturated in syrup. It really is a huge quantity and it ruined the texture of the cake. Honestly reckon half the syrup and it would be golden
