heyy im currently a rising senior and currently brainstorming ideas for NCM but I feel stuck for the 3 main essays the biological and writing exercise i don't know what makes a 'good essay' everyone keeps telling me to write about me what makes me me but in what sense? I can't seem to figure out what to write

This student is a case study of how not to approach college admissions.
This student was applying through Questbridge (they encourage applying to many of their partner schools). This student would have loved to watch some of your videos exemplifying the exact way to prepare for college admissions- OOPS you don't have one. Until you have one she will have to take the initiative to try to help others herself rather than watching other's videos and criticizing.
@@Evanreadsalot Seems to me that you are one of those people who looks for ways to come after people on message boards who express opinions you don't like and to engage in smug ad hominem under the cover of anonymity. I counsel high school students and their parents on applying to college for a living. Having videos does not make someone competent in the work they do. Applying to colleges through Questbridge is irrelevant to whether a student applies to the right colleges for them. And nobody should be applying to 34 colleges I don't care what program they are participating in. This young woman is fortunate that she was accepted to one of her preferred schools and that she will be able to pay for it. Others are not so fortunate.
@@gmh471 There is no anonymity here as you have both my first and last name in your reply-AND my photo. As a counselor you should be familiar with Questbridge. Questbridge is for students who cannot afford any of the colleges to which they are applying. They don't even pay for their applications. This young woman lived in a small town in Mississippi with zero options for high school, she was homeschooled and only had the guidance provided through online videos. If you have guidance to share you should make a video- she would have appreciated it at the time. Her attempt here was to help others by sharing her experience even if it may open her up to demeaning comments that are only hurtful and helpful to no one.

If I were on the admissions committee, and knew that you applied to so many schools, I would reject your application on the spot. You did not think about who you are and the direction of your life. More than 10 schools, and you haven't entered adulthood yet. So sad.
She was applying through Questbridge (they encourage applying to many of their partner schools). How sad it would be if we all knew exactly who we were and the direction of our life and limited our possibilities at 17.

I wasn't a finalist for Questbridge. How does USC know if I was an applicant? Will being an applicant give me an advantage?

Hi! Do you think applying test optional minimized your ability to be accepted into some schools? Also when doing Regular Decision, did you have to write different essays for each school you applied to or how does it work?
Hey! I think it hurt my chances applying test optional as a homeschooled applicant. However, if I had attended a traditional school I think it wouldn’t have negatively affected my application as much. For regular decision I did have more essays to write. I don’t know if this is still true but for the NCM some schools asked for fewer essays because of the time crunch, but if you applied for just RD then you had to do all the essays!!

I ended up on a full ride scholarship at LSU(Ogden Honor's College), but I am in the process of completing the USC Trojan transfer plan so that I can transfer to USC in Fall 2023!!
