This wonderful ensemble using original 17th/18th century instruments set at A=420hz produces wonderful effects on the ear- But…one thing…is there a good reason why the choir (who tho’ smallish like Bach’s choirs were) has female singers when Sebastian Bach had only Canti (boy-sopranos) to work with ? Using boy Canti between the ages of 8 and 14 would improve the ‘timbre’ but this conductor is doing a fabulous job with his singers & players - I’m ‘really diggin’ the 18th century valveless Trombe !!

Ach Leute, was erhebt man bloss dieses an sich harmlose Duett ewig zum non plus ultra. Diese Oper hat viel größere Partien zu bieten. Tiefe Dramatik, Ästhetik z.B. im Maskenterzett, oder in den wenigen, aber hoch ästhetischen Partien des Don Ottavio. Wenn einem bis dahin noch nicht Schauer über den Körper laufen, dann hier, mit Sicherheit. Mozart spielt hier seine Fähigkeit zur Ästhetik und Tiefe voll aus, ganz bewusst, ganz schlicht, tief bewegend. DAS IST DER ERWACHSENE MOZART, und - DAS ZERREISST DIE SEELE. Zerlina und Guovanni - nun ja, ganz niedlich - und völlig harmlos dagegen....
