That has a 2005 R6 front suspension and the upper triple tree is a highly modified one from a Yamaha Warrior 1700. Has a custom All Balls bearing kit too. Took a lot of fabrication to make it all work.

@@xHondaHack thanks man im in the process of rebuilding mine. Did the dyna tek coils give you any trouble or were they a bolt on?

@@speedtwinjohnny Love the Dynatek coils but not easily adapted to the Fazer when fitting in the stock mounts. Had to make spacers and with that still don't have very much clearance for the chrome sections of the airbox cover. I'd stick with a good set of stock coils, just make sure the caps are in excellent condition and have the proper 5K ohm resistance (when using non-resistor plugs).

Sure are. Hard to find these days though.

The outer casing isn't as thick, so a bit skinnier than stock as you noticed. That's why I added the double shrink tube wrap on part of it. The install would be about the same as stock and does work fine with the aftermarket clutch lever.

@@xHondaHack what needs to come off at the side for routing? Just the blinker shroud?

The shroud is really the only thing in the way. That helps with getting your hand in to guide it past the bracket that's behind the radiator. @@futureboy40

@@xHondaHack in Oregon between Colton an Estacada, real heavy fir tree timber an logging. Road made up of twisters, when 2 full logging trucks come around corner, racing! Filling both lanes, evenly matched, so I'm looking at 2 grills heading for me with hillside on left, no where to go, or right off embankment. Or hit them head on! 2 women in car behind me almost gets hit too. I see 2 strange women climbing down hillside to get to me. Are you all right? Did you see those 2 log trucks racing at us? Yeah, I saw them! Others stopped by now, with ropes. Complete strangers got me an my crashed wreck up to roadways. When they got me back up to road there were 6 cars stopped to help me, but not one logging truck!

Tough to find most of the stuff I used. Mostly e-bay and c-list. Had to refurbish most everything being it's an older model that was only offered for two years. You can try Len @ www.xj4ever.com too

Being low miles the original clutch and springs were good. EBC makes some clutch replacement parts that I believe are good quality.

Well with carb tuning several factors will have to be considered. Do you run a stock or modified exhaust, stock or high flow air filter, and what altitude you primarily ride at. Also, do you run straight gas, or does it have some ethanol in it? Base engine functions are critical too. Valve clearances, compression, ignition, and carb cleanliness come to mind. A good starting point is a Sigma Jet Kit: www.ebay.com/itm/254522335999?epid=1155287254&hash=item3b42b6a2ff:g:BMAAAOSwkXBePbRy But I have to add a word of caution if your tempted (Do Not Drill the slides). That might be good for a race bike but would avoid for a street ridden machine, and no way to undo that besides buying another set of slides $$$.

@@xHondaHack awesome I ended up just cleaning the carbs and she’s idling without the choke now. Pretty pumped I think the airbox helped out a ton as well

Well the guy who purchased the bike I built with that exhaust recently offered that bike up for sale. Not sure if that's an option for you it you're still interested?

Not sure what parts are missing? No power to coils could be a few things, and hard to know what it might be. Potential sources of trouble are the ignition fuse, bad ground, sidestand switch, starting circut relay, or ignitor. A wiring diagram would be helpful too. BTW, I got an e-bay TDM850 cap that I was able to make work. And the airfilter shouldn't be that tough to find.

@@xHondaHack I’m missing a few things, one of the biggest is the speedometer, and I’m currently looking for a new headlight (there are a lot on the market I’ve been looking at). I have recently gotten a service manual, I’ve looked it through it. I recently just sent off the tank to get a full restoration, and I have also gotten all the hardware (fuel lines, filter, fuel pump, fuel level sensor). I have gotten her to crank but until I get my tank back and such I won’t be able to test too too much. I did put an little bit of starting fluid and gas, but I don’t think I had enough to fill the bowls.

@@deactivated0057 I also recently got one of these bikes that needs some TLC. The fuel cap and latches fell to pieces when I was removing the tank so I have been trying to hunt down another assembly. Can I ask what company you chose to send your tank off to?

@@DemsturFire I found an amazing powder coating and sand blasting company in my area. Their called Meyers coating their number is 330-904-4284, also it’s in canton Ohio just to let you know. There is also a metal fab shop that I had seen that work with them and they do great too (Alron custom fabrication and machine) 330-260-0105. But other than that than that I use eBay and I look for aftermarket and stock parts (hard to find).

@@xHondaHack were the carbs stock as well? My bike is Bone stock but I'm looking to put a K&N Filter in it...maybe a exhaust if I can find anyone

@@shadowspect09 Yes they were the stock Mikuni BDS34. Did add the K&N filter and the jet kits will help with the "lean" tune from the factory, mods that you do, and the altitude where you ride it the most.

Real nice ones around $3-4K, and likely more for one if it was in collectors condition.

I believe that one is a 160/80 15. May be tough to find that size now though?

Had some time to do some research but having no luck. Mac made the header and I custom built the rear section. Niche-Cycle was another source for a 4 Into 1 I believe, but did not see any listing for the Maxim X when searching.

@@edmcdaniel1018 Ebay or someone local to you parting one out. You could fit one off an FZ750 (because the header pipes would fit), but may have to mod the rear mounting points, and likely have to ditch the center stand.

You should have some luck on E-bay. 267mm diameter is the size.

The Maxim X will definitely provide some excitement when properly tuned and running well. I'm 5'9" and it should be a good fit size wise for you.
