The Mask inspired recipes by Maddie & Kiki!
Have you seen The Mask? It was TOUGH finding foodie inspiration from this 1994 hit Jim Carrey flick, but Maddie & Kiki persevered and came up with two delectable recipes!

Lions Mane Mushroom ‘Steak’ Sandwich
Serves 1-2
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total time: 25 minutes
Ingredients:
1/4 lb lions mane mushrooms
1 tbsp avocado oil
For the ‘steak’ marinade:
1 tbsp tamari
2 tbsp bbq sauce
1 tsp each garlic powder and onion powder
1 tbsp beet root powder
1/4 cup vegetable broth
1 tsp balsamic vinegar
1 tsp Vegemite (optional, but gives incredible umami flavour!)
Black pepper to taste
1/4 lb Hot banana peppers
1 small onion
For serving: vegan mayo, crusty bread
Directions:
1. Heat a skillet over medium high heat either on the stove or BBQ. Add the avocado oil. Add the mushrooms and use a spatula or burger press to press them down firmly. Continue to flip and press and allow the mushrooms to cook for 10 minutes.
2. Meanwhile, whisk together all the ingredients for the ‘steak’ marinade. Pour over the mushrooms. Close the lid of the BBQ (or add a lid on the stove) and flip the mushrooms every so often for 5-6 minutes until the sauce reduces down.
3. Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly before cutting into strips.
4. Sauté the peppers and onions in a little bit of avocado oil until slightly browned. Season with salt and pepper.
5. Serve the ‘steak’ on some hollowed out crusty bread with the peppers and onions, and mayo.

My Sizzle came yesterday. I made the best fried eggs ever, over easy, this morning. I preheated to 400F. Added a pat of butter, that started to brown. Best home breakfast.

My dad used to purposely buy sliced head cheese to have in his lunches! (But he’s the only one who would ever eat it. Just like tripe. Once a year my Mom would make it for him, then we’d all find a reason to get the heck out of the house, because that cow’s stomach dish smelled Rank!! 🤢)

I place my ribs in the basket that came with the Ninja. I’m still new to using it so it lessen the odds of burning especially if you’re using a rub with sugar in it.
Smack it flip it and pat it down. I have that patented.
Why do you have to start it up before you can tell if it will fit?

Meat thermometer and/or temp probe is a griller’s best friend, I always have one handy
