Mindful Mosaic
This video demonstrates a way to make a faux mosaic using watercolor, glue and scissors.
Here are some ways to make art mindfully:
1. Set Intentions
Before you start: Take a few moments to set clear intentions for your art-making session. What do you hope to achieve or express? This could be an emotion, a theme, or simply enjoying the process.
2. Create a Calm Environment
Declutter your space: A tidy, organized space can help reduce distractions.
Use soothing elements: Consider adding soft music, aromatherapy, or natural light to your workspace.
3. Practice Deep Breathing
Before and during your session: Take deep, slow breaths to center yourself and remain present. This can help calm your mind and reduce stress.
4. Focus on the Process, Not the Outcome
Enjoy the journey: Embrace the act of creating rather than worrying about the final product. Let go of expectations and allow your creativity to flow naturally.
5. Use Sensory Experiences
Engage your senses: Pay attention to the texture of your materials, the colors you’re using, and the sounds your tools make. This can deepen your connection to the present moment.
6. Take Breaks
Pause and reflect: Regularly step back from your work to breathe and observe your progress. This can help you stay mindful and prevent frustration.
7. Practice Gratitude
Appreciate the opportunity: At the end of your session, take a moment to express gratitude for the time you had to create and the materials you used.
8. Reflect on Your Experience
Journal about your process: Write down your thoughts, feelings, and any insights you gained during your art-making session. This can help you understand your creative journey better.
9. Use Mindful Techniques
Incorporate mindfulness practices: Techniques like mandala drawing, mindful coloring, or Zentangle can be specifically designed for mindful creativity.
10. Stay Present
Avoid multitasking: Dedicate your art time solely to art. Try to minimize interruptions and distractions, staying fully immersed in your creative process.
11. Embrace Imperfection
Accept mistakes: See them as part of the process and opportunities for growth and discovery. Let go of the need for perfection.

Do you play music when you're in a classroom and teaching? And loud to boot. Really! Suggestion: ditch the music.

I do play music the entire day through all my classes and my teaching. I’m an art teacher and music soothes my students and creates a peaceful relaxing environment for us. This particular video does have a background I can see bothering some. I’ll keep that in mind for the future.

Thanks for this demo. I've noticed that other tutorials use Google Slides to make these banners. Why did you choose to use Google Drawings? I'm not too familiar with it, so wondered. Thanks.

I use Google Drawings with my students often as well as Google Slides. I think it's important to know both and have them interchangeable. They are similar so you can go between the two. Would a video using Google Slides be helpful?

I love this! I like creating your own classrooms to streamline it. How do you get students to join your classroom? (Our district creates our classrooms for us but we can't rename them and it is utter and total chaos! )

I sent out an email to all teachers with the classroom code and I also sent the classroom code (with directions) to all parents. You can invite students using their gmail account as well.
