3 Questions That Stifle Your Creative Voice
In this video, I discuss three questions that are NOT good for developing (or maintaining) your creative vision in the beginning stages of writing a song or story.
I’ve personally found that asking these questions too early in the creative process (or sometimes even asking them at all) takes me further away from following through on my vision for the project. I’ll break down why and the steps that you can take to avoid asking these questions of yourself at the wrong time, and the ones you should maybe ask instead :)
Thanks for watching!

Elucid deserves so much more praise. I do think when it comes with rap ability Billy is a little better (then again Billy is better than 99.9% of rappers). But Elucid brings so much to the table in terms of lyrics, production, and his odd singing ability. Take Stonefruit for example:)

His delivery is so key to me. My favourite verse from him is on Arkeology from Brass, and for so long I had no idea what he was saying. But the lines just stayed in my head for weeks on end until I figured them out, because the delivery was so unique and authoritative.

the more i try and research it the more ive become to dislike it, this album's driving me insane because trying to find anything interesting or meaningful from this album feels like looking for needles in a haystack but they didn't bother getting actual needles so instead you're looking for images of needles they printed and cut out themselves

I'm currently learning about poetry from Dana Gioia's youtube channel. I have no idea who he is, but he taught me that poetry isn't abstract, whereas in the past, I used to think it's the opposite. He changed my perspective on great vs mediocre lyricism/literature. There is no benefit in confusing the writer. Your writing can still have depth without completely alienating the audience.
