So...have you had success with any of the suggestions? BTW...LED bulbs can be easily obtained from an online retailer if not available locally. Thanks for your work!
Great stuff, I might consider this for my 1981 900 GLs.
I have a 1981 version of the GLs, 4 door with a boot and manual transmission with 38,000 miles on the clock. I love it!
Thants low miles !!! If you're talking US miles ?
Bit silly really does a ford escort have the same driving feel as a ford focus ? does a Vauxhall cavalier have the same driving experience as a Vauxhall insignia, did my old Mk2 Jaguar have the same feel as an XF I shall leave you to figure out where this is going
Someone that knew anything about Saabs wouldn't make such a comment I'm pretty sure 😂😂😂
How can I get in touch with the owner? Thanks
It's for sale in Sweden - I can send you a link

My grandfather used to work at saab in Trollhättan
Hi Classic Saab Guy, Could you get me in contact with your friend. He has his car for sale on Blokcet, i am just not able to register an account as a Dutch citizen.
My first car were saab 99L brown from 1978. 4vxl.
This is very interesting, thank you for sharing. I’m looking to retrofit a catalytic converter to my 1994 Toyota Landcruiser (1FZ petrol engine). These were sold in Australia without any catalytic converters, apparently due to a loophole in the law as they were classed as a light truck. My goal is to reduce the lawnmower smell of the current exhaust.
That's the added benefit of these converters - eliminating the petrol smell inside the cabin !
I have 2 classic 900 Saabs, 1981 GLs and a 1990 T16S Aero and a 1996 9000 Aero. All manual transmissions. They are all Saab at their best, just fantastic cars!
Love the video. I hope your 9000 is still enjoying life! Mine blew a brake line. A new pre made line comes tomorrow! I hope the swap.goes smooth!
IMO the 99 was the best looking and best proportioned of all the Saab's. I had one for a few years back in the early 1990's, metallic bronze with turbo wheels and it was bullet proof. Took it on a 2000 mile round trip from South Wales to do a tour of Scotland and it didn't miss a beat. I've always fancied getting the turbo model but prices have been out of my reach.
I love my 9000 but i kind of like the ng 900 looks too. Saw a slightly rusty '96 I think for sale near me. No turbo and auto. That's two sad things but maybe a winter beater to save mine from salt. Saab on!
Had both and 900NG do not feel like a saab the 900OG is still in my possession the 900NG is scrapped. Have driven plenty of 9-3 and 9-5 and they are just not saab. Not bad cars and my 900NG was my daily for many years before sold and later scrapped. For me the 900OG was the last "true" saab, then it went downhill pretty fast and look where they are today...
I think Porsche and Saab had quite friendly association.
It's very hard to think of the simple things first. I'm a classic saab guy with c900's and 9000's.
Yup it always happens that way !! 🙈 Great to have you following the channel 👌
Nice restauration. Just missing pictures, where you see the car from the front and the back.
Hi ,nice content, i recommend pine hollow diagnostics on youtube, very helpfull and best source imo...my old volvo was cured by spraying wd 40 on the brake pedal contact...maybe its 2 different problems occuring at same time, as mentioned in the comments, good luck, from bob Belgium, saab 85
It would be nice to see videos about life in Sweden, old towns/villages, countryside and customs etc which could obviously be combined with Saabs.
Great idea! I'll try and incorporate that into the channel 😊
@@theclassicsaabguy236 fantastic 🤩
Very helpful video, thanks!
Myopic Sycophant. Yesss it' was a decent car..... 20 years ago. Not so much in the 21st Century.
cantankerous incognisant, got your opinion in now please move on to the next troll.

I bought a white Saab 90 MY1985 three weeks ago, near mint but missing some parts so yeah I'm on a spending spree as we speak, middle radio console alone was 140€ and the minilites 270€. Worth every cent but don't tell the missus!
Ha yeah I know the feeling ! It's hard to have these cars and not want to try and make them perfect and original. Every Saab I've had owed me more than I could ever sell them for 🙈
Those minilite rims though ❤
1:20 min in the video is exactly my car
I drove a classic 900 for years and have access to a 1999 9-3 convertible. The 9-3 has a 2l softturbo and the 4speed Auto box what makes it a super comfy cruiser. But ride and handling make the 9-3 (which was already improved to the 900 NG) a much much less involving and enjoyable ride. The classic 900 was simply the best handling front wheel drive car of its time. And the successor just couldn’t match. How can you present a new car that handles worse than its predecessor without damaging the brand!?
My thoughts exactly !!
When it blinks that quickly it usually means that one of the bulbs are broken. But I reckon that your problem isn’t as simple…
It turned out to be a weak battery and another bad flasher unit
Hi, I have been driving a Saab 9000. Some years ago already (ouch, getting older..). When I had that marvelous car, I stumbled upon an article from somebody, who had been 'refurbishing' his 9000. He took out the back seat and made it into a little van. That is to say: he had to darken the back side windows. I am living in The Netherlands and in those days, you could drive a 'grey' license. Meaning: when you have a van, or a car with no back seats, made into a little van, you could go for a special license. A normal registration had a yellow colour, this one was grey. Hence the name. In this way, the taxes you had to pay for the car, were substantial less. Alas, I cannot remember where I read it, maybe it was in the magazine of the Saab Club. I was thinking to do the same, but then my wife got pregnant😀
That's an interesting story - this car is sooo versatile !!
WARNING MY FRIEND !!! . Keep reg plate hidden and avoid that SaabFest !!! . Criminal gang operating out of South Wales ......(been going for 40 years) .......... . The "profile" a victim and will wait decades ..... burgle houses just for documents !!! . Watch for a silver 900 turbo 16S with red leather .....(immaculate car) ....... Owner very polite.... respectable......sincere ............. but DEADLY . IM SORRY FOR THE POST 😞 ........... the cars were never meant EVER for this conduct
Go for it!
Thanks for the encouragement! 🙏

😅 yup! 🙈 Thanks for the support !
Hej do. Sure. Go a bit broader. SwedeStuff? Scandious?
Ha yeah ! Let's see where it goes !
Whatever it is, the NG900/9-3 is a fine car, especially in LHD non-bulkhead breaking guise..!
Fabulous detail in your video my friend . Thank you . I just did the job successfully on my 9000 cs (it is the same system ) thanks to your help . Cheers 🙂
Glad it helped ! Had to do it twice on my car over three years - I hadn't quite done it right the first time.
@@theclassicsaabguy236 What did you do wrong the first time ? I found your video covered all the salient points - especially how to tape the clockspring to avoid ...SPROOOOOIING . I took my time because I had no idea of what it all was . Without your video I would have been in the dark . Not rushing , as a newby I spent 3 hours + doing the job. (Not counting the time from battery disconnect to starting - I waited more than an hour after battery disconnect. I imagine that I could do it in less than an hour now that I know the ropes. Cheers again :)
What a 900 EMS?! I think EMS was only available on the SAAB 99.
Yes - who knew 🤷♂️
I'm inspired. My father bought a Saab 9000 in 1986 which I drove to the Netherlands for him as new, he ran the car until @ 2001 when he gave it to me to run for another few years. Wonderful car, very few about in the UK today
I have one in Morocco for sale
The classic 900 was looking it's age but it's distinctiveness was unforgettable, the NG was still a fine car and I personally would be happy with one. The 9000 was far too Conservative for my liking, it looked like any other executive car, best ignored tbh. My all time favourite though was the 99, biggest mistake of my life was selling it, the only thing that really irritated my was the roof liner ( what were Saab thinking?). The 9-3's were beautiful both generations so GM weren't all bad really. It was a travesty letting Saab go to the wall, fuck sake, the Swedish government should have nationalised the manufacturer and sold it off when the time was right
No one thinking yo move theDIC.unit higher10 to 15mm. high from engine cover by used TEFLON insulator.Sothe DIC.case not touch the engine cover. So the DIC.unit not so hot. TRY do it...
Glad you were all well! I have a 5 door 900i 8v hatchback from 89 . Love it
Yes we were lucky ! Safe driving with your Saab !
th-cam.com/video/n3ZaVjDt_Zk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=TaMNpHK07_54YSMi i hit at 100 kmh no belt walked out. Thas why now i have 3 saabs all 2000 93
You’ll regret it:( sure you can’t store her?
A good concise history of a fabulous car. I owned two 99’s. First was a two door Verona Green 1.85 and later an EMS. It was while owning the EMS that I sourced a Saab 96 for my wife which was a gem. She still misses that car all those years later. It’s such a shame Saab lost their way.
Hello iam looking for the 3d print bushings for a 1992 saab convertible
The main reason for replacing the rear on the 99 was that the press tools were worn out. At the same time, they wanted to keep the 99 as an entry-level model, and therefore the Saab 90 was created.
I have just bought a v6 900 convertible nice car to be fair still runs well
My Grandpa had a 1984 GLi 😊 Many years ago now.
Ha ha... it's ok to slip up, it's all a learning curve at the end of the day.
NG900 is objectively the superior vehicle... Minimal GM influence actually. And a much stronger drivetrain. Better looking too. Look at a well-spec'd NG900 coupe vs a C900 coupe. The NG coupe is the best looking body they ever made. It stands out no less than the old 900. They both have major influence from typical styling from their respective eras. If you look at the parts, it shares no more with any other vehicles than the C900 did. Certainly less than older Saabs witth their Triumph or Ford engines... I think most of the NG900 hate from "purists" comes from straight up ignorance and baseless lies. Even jealousy that the NG900s and OG9³s have proven to be the most durable car Saab ever produced.
Well for me, it's not necessarily NG 900 hate it's just that when you put them as side-by-side the original 900 just looks so much more classic classic and artistic in its design and that's where I'm coming from. I'm sure that's if it's the new car its going to be technologically better in some ways perhaps but as for GM influence - are you Europe based because Vauxhalls in the UK clearly had their parts bins shared with the NG 🤣
Well where to begin?! 1) minimal GM influence 😂 well besides the floorpan, the suspension, some engines (eg the lame v6), electric parts.... 2) better looking? subjective NOT objective 3) better handling? certainly not, at least not without heavy modifications 4) triumph engines? the Saab Slant 4 was heavily modificated to the basic Triumph construction (and in fact, it was a Ricardo construction shared with the both OEMs), built in Sweden by Saab when Triumph didnt even exist anymore 5) the classic 900 is in many aspects and details a very unique construction. The 900 NG is as generic as it gets. 6) jealousy? come on. remind me, which of the both cars is a collectible? So no, sorry, your opinion is not "objective" (and I dont share it).
Nice video although a little confusing - when you talked about the facelifted sloped front at 3:13, I think you were talking about the CC/CD models, but showed a picture of the CS.
