Gringo, Interrupted
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 3 พ.ย. 2021
Hola, I'm Alfie. Due to a mid-life crisis and circumstances that have "interrupted" my normal life, I quit my job and am fortunate enough to be able to do the thing I love the most: travel. Having fallen in love with Mexico on a trip in 2019, I plan on checking out more of this amazing country and eventually heading south to the countries of Central and South America. Hence, the name "Gringo, Interrupted." Join me in my travels! I'm told I'm pretty funny and this channel will present a unique and interesting view on traveling as well as a ton of useful information and itineraries for those wishing to visit these cities. I hope you enjoy my videos as much I enjoy making them!

Another great video. I loved how adventurous you were going into the water in the dark.
Thank you!
OMG you are a goofball.🤣🤣
Thanks? 😊
Hey Alphie! It’s Steve, yes, Steve from Philadelphia/NJ circa 20 years ago. i know you remember, anyway, we are heading to CDMX and loved your video. Would love to catch up and learn more. Ciao! btw, sorry to hear about your dad.
Wow, blast from the past! Of course, I remember you! Crazy! Hit me up on Instagram to catch up and thanks for watching!
Great episode! Thanks for taking us with you on the boat and glad you didn’t get eaten by a crocodile 😊
Thanks Amy! 😊
Great video. I was there in April 1973 after a stay in Oaxaca. We drove over a dirt road from OAX to PE - 11 hours. Only some surfers were there and about a dozen buildings for the town. Returned in 1989. Much more built up but still off the tourist path.
Thanks! Yeah, I was dreading that journey but the new highway literally just opened up! Thanks for watching!
I just found your channel and I have to say that I am LOVING it. We're planning our trip to Oaxaca this fall, so I have been watching a LOT of TH-cam videos on it. Most youtubers seem to do the same few activities and don't even try to experience the culture. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos in Mexico (and hopefully Latin America) as you show us that these are places and people to be celebrated not vilified. Keep up the great work!
Wow, what a nice comment! Thank you so much! I enjoy making these videos and am so happy you like them! Have a great time in Oaxaca!
That piece of fruit shaped like a star is called a starfruit. No I'm not just being a smart*ss :) It's good for staving off dehydration because it has a little sugar, some electrolytes, and is mostly made up of water. Plus they are tasty.
Thanks! It was tasty!
To visit is ok, to live in Queretaro is boring as hell
Haha, thanks for the info! 😂
The town seemed a little rough and undeveloped, which was refreshing. I think I recall a time when you drove a scooter on the an even busier highway…………
It will probably change a lot with the new highway. After talking tos some locals, they say they aren’t ready for it. They say they don’t have the infrastructure, sewer and more importantly, enough water.
I especially liked that area where you said you would have stayed had you known about the beach situation.
@chrishughes9218 La Punta! It’s the trendy spot!
My favorite parts were, the timelapse video at the surfing beach, the diving birds and the brackish water incident, classic gringo-ing
Thank you! And thanks for not listing your least favorite parts 😉
Chido video
Muchas gracias!
Thank you for you videos.
Thanks for watching! 😊
Awwwww my city I'll be visiting soon, sorry you had Covid while you were there.
I couldn’t have asked for a better city to be sick in! I love Morelia!
"You going to make me come down here Mother Fucker!?" 😂😂 Yes... the answer is yes!
😂 And he didn’t even tip!
Hola Alfie, glad to see you had a good time in Puerto Escondido and surrounding areas. You're braver than I would have been, going into a lagoon at night infested with crocodiles it's pretty ballsy. Best thing you did was stay out of those rough beaches, the tide can pull you in/under and if you're not a very good swimmer, your dead meat. Looking forward to your next video. 😊
Thanks Lou! I was hesitant at the lagoon, but I would have kicked myself for not going for it! Besides, if I had to choose, I think I’d prefer death by crocodile to drowning in the ocean! 😉 Thanks for watching !
Wish I was there! So which beach do all the boys go to? I heard there is one. 🌈
I didn’t know there was one! But, next up is Zipolite, which is UBER Gay! Thanks for watching! 🏳️🌈
Yes. Zipolote is great. Rough water and nude. Luckily it’s a very wide beach so you can keep the nudity at a respectable distance, if you so choose.
Star Fruit or Carambola
Ah ha! Thanks Dwain!
@@GringoInterrupted First time I had Star fruit was in Cuba. I took a picture of the fruit while I was there but doesn't look like I can share it with you. I was with another person on my tour when we cam across this table with a plate of the fruit at a outdoor restaurant. It was delicious. But YMMV 😊
Being from another country you certainly get around the towns you visit with no difficulty, you are amazing! I would be afraid.
Haha, thanks! It’s really no big deal and safe! But it does help to speak some Spanish. But many people spoke English in Puerto. Thanks for watching!
So much shirtless fan service! Love it! LOL! I'll have to check to see if there's an easy way from Puerto Vallarta to Puerto Escondido when I go! I love the umbrella hopping! Thanks again for another great video!
Haha, thanks! There’s more to come! Vallarta to Escondido sounds like you might need to fly and it would require a transfer. Or you could bus to Guadalajara airport and probably fly direct. You may be more interested in Zipolite! It’s super gay there! That video is coming soon. Thanks for watching!
@@GringoInterrupted oh coo! Can't wait!
Excellent as always Alfie
Thanks Dwain! 😊
How ya learn good SPANISH?
School and lots of practice! Thanks 😊

Walking around infecting Mexicans for 7 days. Christopher Columbus.
If you didn’t test for C you can’t ever say it’s a cold. I hope you didn’t infect the poor locals since you didn’t bother to mask. Selfish.
Watching your videos is like a feel-good movie-super entertaining and hilarious! Keep up the awesome work!
Thank you so much! I love this comment!
Wow! Buddy ur Spanish is really good! Very nice! I'm from Patzcuaro but I've been living in USA since I was 13, and I'm so happy to see this video sine I haven't get back to Patzcuaro, Thank you!
Thank you! Hope you can get back there soon!
Hi again Alfie -- Happy Memorial Day! It just occurred to me. How/what did you use to wash those expensive Merino Wool T-shirts from Unbound Merino? I just bought a 3 pack (OUCH!) for a 6 week trip to Ajijic and realized Imma gonna need to wash these by hand rather than taking them to a lavandería.
Hi Dwain! They can be washed in a machine, but NOT put in the dryer, as they are wool. They have to dry lying flat. I washed mine in the sink (just a couple drops of hand soap or shampoo, NOT dish soap), let them soak for 10 mins, gave them a little scrub, rinsed a couple times, then wrung them out and dried flat on a towel. They dry quickly.
When I do it again, Id purchase a portable wash board to have something to scrub them against, but thats if they are REALLY dirty. I love those shirts! Hope you do too!
Well done video easy to follow, and informative. It makes me want to visit Puerto Vallarta. ✌🏼❤💋
Thanks so much! 😊
Great opening music 🎶! Baroque counter: 3
Haha, thanks! 😊
Thanks!
Wow, muchas gracias! 😊
We visited a year ago. Same places and I still watched the video. I want to go again. Great video. What? No mezcal in Tule? Rookie mistake.
Haha, yeah; I’m just not a big drinker, so not much interest. I got a lot of comments skipping the town of Tequila when I visited Guadalajara. But, maybe next time! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful. Love it.
It is indeed! Thanks for watching!
Thought I’d follow you to Oaxaca. Absolutely gorgeous. Yikes, no more gringos? Love the murals and mole! Que bueno.
Haha, thanks! Oaxaca is amazing; I thoroughly enjoyed my time there! Especially the food! Thanks for watching!
Informative and also witty.
Thank you!😊
You have very good pronunciation in Spanish!! Keep up with the language, it will get better.
Thanks!
Beautiful views! I love your videos
Thank you!
Another great video. I loved the market.
Thanks! 😊
Hi Alfie! I really enjoy your videos and narration.
Thanks so much! I’m so glad you enjoy them!
I really enjoy your presentation of all the places that you share with us! Muchas Gracias 🙏
Thanks so much! I appreciate it!
I’m from Morelia and wanted to thank you for coming to the city 😊 also gotta say that the last restaurant you went has a more commercialized food rather than traditional food. The street food is mostly on other part of the city and you can find it downtown only on special occasions
Thank you for the info! I would love to return to Morelia and explore more outside of the center. Such a beautiful city! Thanks for commenting!
I respect your discretion and awareness while filming during our spiritual practices. Thanks for that.
Thanks for noticing! It’s a delicate balance between trying to show them while remaining respectful.
I’m thinking of traveling to my home land. My mothers from Riva Vista Palacio in Michoacán but it’s really dangerous over there right now. How was Pátzcuaro for you? I did see that video too btw 👍
@tharealjonrubio1653 Pátzcuaro was fine, nice little town, friendly people. I never felt unsafe at all. There were a bunch of retired gringos there also. I haven’t heard of your mother’s town, but I will say that many Mexicans told me to avoid Michoacán. I’m glad I didn’t let them scare me! It seems Mexicans are always warning me of other places in Mexico. I take them with a grain of salt.
I might go visit Pátzcuaro then. Tha is for sharing your journey with us!
@tharealjonrubio1653 I hope you have a great time!
I love your tour diatribe. Very interesting!
sorry, wrong word "diatribe, " I meant discussion.
Haha, thank you! And no worries!
Thank you for your posts. You are captivating, bright, funny, and absolutely adorable. I am thinking about retiring to Mexico next year. Your posts have been very helpful. I am learning lots from you.
Wow, I’m so flattered! Thank you so much! I’m so glad you’re enjoying them 😊 Where are you thinking?
@@GringoInterrupted I really like Puerto Vallarta and Queretaro. PV is very queer friendly, but expensive and hot in the summer. Queretaro is gorgeous and clean, perhaps I can move between the two communities. I really have enjoyed your posts.
@PorfirioBueno sounds like a great plan to me! I liked PV a lot, but agree with you about the heat. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere thats very hot. The cities in the colonial highlands(Guanajuato, San Miguel, Queretaro) are the perfect weather for me!
Agree, love those cities, my sister lives in Queretaro, I really like Guanajuato, and San Miguel too. Retirement is exciting! Lots to think about.
Awesome. We loved Mont Alban too.
Thanks Ronnie!
Any pools or saunas there?
Not really sure, but I saw some Spa Hotels
