Hi Alfie! I really enjoy your videos and narration.
Thanks so much! I’m so glad you enjoy them!
I stayed with a host family in Guanajuato for a summer during college. Beautiful place to be sure. Thanks for sharing. It brought back some memories.
Nice! I LOVE this city! So unique and charming!
Right? You also put a wondeful face on it with your video. Again, it brought back some wonderful memories. BTW...when you head farther south, I can tell you unequivocally that you will love Santiago and Lima! @@GringoInterrupted
I'm planning to retire in Mexico (I'm from the US but a dual Mex citizen) and your videos are helping me choose the city! Subscribed for more.
Guanajuato so far is on the top of my list. Stunningly beautiful city.
Awesome, thanks so much! Guanajuato is my favorite city so far, but it can be a workout! I’m currently traveling and will put more videos out in April. Thanks again; I appreciate the support!
Loved the video. Thank you!
Thanks!
I will be in guanajuato in about a week; looking forward to it! Thanks for the great video.
You’re very welcome, have a great trip!
Did u
Great sense of humor. Great video!
Thanks! 😊 I appreciate it!
Thx dude. Heading to Guanajuato soon, your video provided me with some valuable insight on things to do!
Awesome! I love to hear that! Have a great trip!
I love your videos! Such great information and superbly crafted--your editing skills are really great. I look forward to each weekly installment of your adventures, but this week was particularly delightful. I am fascinated by Guanajuato and your video did not disappoint. I've probably watch every video on TH-cam about the city, and yours is hands down the very best. It's not even close. What makes your videos stand out is your willingness to explore beyond the greatest hits of a town, the well-worn things that tourists are usually directed to do. I loved that you include footage of the getting lost in the byzantine maze of alleys in the city--what fun! I'm looking forward to your take on San Miguel de Allende, which is often characterized as the rich, upscale version of Guanajuato, and home to a huge North American immigrant community. Keep up the great work!
Derrick, I cant tell you how much I appreciate your comment and generous thanks! I sometimes get discouraged that my viewership isn’t that high, but a lovey comment like this is what keeps me going! To know someone enjoys the videos I make is truly heartwarming and makes it worth all the hard work I put into them. Guanajuato is unbelievably beautiful and I may just be as obsessed as you are with it! You are the first to hit the Thanks button, and it made my day, if not my year! Thank you so much for it and for taking the time to write such a nice, detailed comment! San Miguel is next (sneak preview: not my favorite place, too touristy and too “gringofied”, but it is beautiful!) Again, a million thanks to you sir! 😀
I am really enjoying your videos! Good photography, great music, history, personal observations. Do you do any pubs, bars, vegetarian foods?
Thanks so much! I appreciate it! Sometimes but not much of a bar guy anymore, and not a vegetarian. I do eat a lot of elote in Mexico! 😉 Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Enjoyed your great video, adequate descriptions, and at a good pace. Thank you!
Thank you!!! 😊
very interesting video 👏
Thank you!
I'm looking at Mexican towns where I can rent an affordable apartment. Your videos are great for showing wonderful scenery. Thank you! ❤
Im so glad my videos are helpful to you! And thank you so much for the comments! Good luck in your adventure!
If you are planning to move to Mexico, make sure you get legal documents from the Mexican consulate. We don’t want anymore illegals living in Mexico.
Best video I've seen on Guanajuato. Enjoy your stay in Mexico!
Thank you so much!
Thank you! Great content and you make me laugh 😂
Thanks; I appreciate it!
One of the best vids I've seen on the marvelous Guanajuato. So much variation, you hit upon all the great touch points. I lived in GTO several years ago for a few months and it was, indeed, like living in a movie. So gorgeous, those winding callejones great fun, good exercise, good food and coffee, great people. Thank you again! I'm a new subscriber. Look forward to your other vids. :)
Thank you so much; I really appreciate it! GTO is my favorite city in Mexico! More videos in the spring!
What a fantastic place! It’s so perfectly beautiful! I would be in such good shape if I lived there with all those stairs and inclines. But then there’s the food which looks pretty fine…
I LOVE your travel videos! The beautiful photography, your funny, informative commentary. What about organizing a group tour for your fans? I would love to explore Mexico with you, Gringo.
Thank you so much Karen! Guanajuato really should be on everyone’s radar; it’s such a unique place! I would absolutely consider a tour for fans, but you may be the only one interested! 😂
Those were some sweet retablos!
Lol, yes. Yes they were!
Thanks for this video. Very informative and fun. I'm headed to Guanajuato City in March to look for a place to retire to. My income won't cut it in the States. Question, friends have told me that the downtown area is pretty flat. I have some balance issues, addressed with ankle supports and a handy trekking stick. Also have a pup. Did it seem doable for someone older? Gracias Mucha El Senor Gringo, Interrupted!
Yes, most of the downtown is flat, but you may encounter some inclines here and there. I think this will depend on where you find a home, how far up the hill and if it there are any steps, but I think its doable. Are you considering other cities in Mexico also?
@@GringoInterrupted I did. Took a trip last August to Tlaquepaque and then up to Baja Sur. No idea what I was thinking as I detest intense heat. Got Salmonella in Tlaquepaque, and thanks to the hotel who got a Doctor to come to me and went and got meds I am still here to talk about it. Seriously ill. Anyway, most places I visited were inundated with Digital Nomads and Very Rich retirees, they have driven up the cost of living tremendously and it is hurting the locals badly. For unknown reasons, Guanajuato City is off their radar, unlike San Miguel de Allende. I don't want to live large. If you have suggestions by all means let me know. I will go to SMA to see it, but I think it is out of the realm of possibility, and any desire for that scene for me. Also, the infrastructure looks better in Guanajuato City. Looking for a more traditional Mexican City, and a diverse expat group. Thanks very much for getting back!
@NancyJMartin Oh no, sorry to hear about the Salmonella! That’s terrible! I agree about San Miguel and other “expat” heavy towns. So, I think Guanajuato is a great fit. Out of all the cities I would consider retiring to, Guanajuato and Morelia top my list. Morelia is sooo underrated. Pátzcuaro is cool also, but kind of sleepy. Heading to Oaxaca and Chiapas for the first time next month. Have a great trip and I wish you the best of luck! Keep me posted on your thoughts on Guanajuato! And thanks for watching!
If all you are looking for is a place where you income will suffice, you will not last in Mexico, start looking in Mississipi, Tennessee, Sout Dakota or the like at least you are in you own culture and country.
Unless you want out of "your own culture"!
You should go to some of the ex-haciendas close to Guanajuato city, like the ex hacienda san Gabriel de barrera
Thanks; I’ll check that if I’m back in the area!
Any pools or saunas there?
Not really sure, but I saw some Spa Hotels
hi-that's superb -peace out, Gringo,,
Thanks!
Great content!
35 Mex pesos for breakfast is NOT $8 U.S. !!! More like $2.25.
Oops! That should have been $135 pesos! Thanks!
How would you recommend getting here from CDMX? If by bus, is it safe? Thx for a great video.
Yes, by bus and its perfectly safe. I would take a first class bus, like ETN. They leave from “autobuses del norte” station (there are multiple bus stations in CDMX). Remember, the bus station in Guanajuato is a little outside the city so you can take a shuttle to centro or grab an Uber. Enjoy!
You can just show up at the bus station in CDMX and purchase ticket there. The website usually doesn’t take U.S.-based credit cards, but they will work at the station. You could also use BusBud.com
You can check departure times at ETN: etn.com.mx/english/. Remember your origin is “Mexico Norte” in CDMX.
Was kiki trying to overtake the japanesia on the vespuchi line? I use to yell at thor and say kiki your bad. He was the nanny pitbull for my brother but at times when the spanish were in town they would change it to my nanny pitbull and i would say kiki you bad, bad dog.
They said I had the meanest pitbulls they ever met. They would lay on the ground and wiggle to my feet or wiggle away depending upon when I used authority
The kiki one would pee when he laid on his back when I said he was bad and would wiggle to my feet.
Guanajuato is pronounced : WANNA -- WHO - AH - T O 👍👍👍
You spelled, “great video” wrong 😉
Another Gringo video!
That is correct!
Its more like ITALIA but love it
Yes, it also reminded me of Italy. So beautiful!
OH I DONT WANT TO SEE THOSE MOMIAS!! I was G. and skipped it!
Oh no, it’s definitely unique and worth a visit! Whats G.?
Thanks!
Thanks Mike! 😀
