Its great to see you back Dick.
Hello what bujía ajs 500 1948 i'm sorry my idioma thank you
Thank you Marcel, I’m pleased you enjoyed watching the video. Safe travels.
That's great with the tray type bottom plates, try it with the cross drilled type. They have to be assembled before being placed on the head and I have found that type of tool useless for disassembly. The half moon compressor was money well spent.
Excellent, thanks. I have the opposite problem, my clutch slips on using the kickstarter but this clears up the operation for me.
RICK... If you drain the oil out the crankcase of a 1951 ajs 18sc How long does it take for the oil to get back to the oil tank ???? I have a lot of puddling
Ridenut... Love your videos...I have a 1951 AJS 18S That puddles oil when it sits for a couple of months. I drained the oil out of the crankcase replaced the oil lines . and started up the engine .. watching the return line in the oil tank of which there is NO oil returning.. I let it run for a minute and nothing returning...question --- does a certain amount of oil have to be in the engine case for it to return before it goes back into the oil tank?? Leo
Really helpful video thanks. The tool you use & made, for dynamo shifting. You say its in the user manual, but I cant find it. Are you able to send a link? Thanks, Alan
Quite possibly one of the worst repair techniques I have ever watched on TH-cam, even allowing for the Pakistan versions. Well done my friend.
He is allowed to grin broadly.
Hi, good ideia, that will works for sure, and what type of oil you recomend to put in the chains box, perhaps valvuline ? LIKE !
Cool
Very boring video 👎
Wow the front brake lever to twin cables very sweet, how is it for setting up so brakes activate evenly?
Ciao DC, great videos, what are the engineering options available if the oil pump wear is in the housing. I have looked at a coupe of AJS 18, with poor oil scavenging and believe this is a common problem due to pump housing wear, any advice would be truly appreciated, Lisa
Nice video. I notice that you change green and yellow wire places.
Couldn’t think of a worse way to start a bike, on its centre stand...
The most beautiful motorbike, and I never owned one. But I think starting it would have driven me mad
Thanks for taking the time to film this. Explains a lot.
best to tighten the inner cover nuts more evenly rather than first nut being torqued right up.
Excellent informative video once again. Thank you.
That smile said it all! Must admit never had any issues starting mine just wish I still had it60 years later!
Another useful tip learnt. Thank you sir.
Thank you Peter... Happy to Help!, The RideNut
Mine has a belt drive. So gearing slightly different. Kick start movement decompressed a bit shorter. Otherwise as shown.
Hola mi nombre es Marcelo y soy de Argentina y quiero saber cómo es la junta de aceite que va en la salida de la bomba de aceite de la ajs 500 de 1948 gracias
Please tell me, I want you to show me how to put the oil outlet that rises for the valves of the ajs 500, thank you very much
Thanks My name is Marcelo of argentina
Thanks a lot. This is most helpful and much appreciated. Colin UK.
My pleasure Colin. A dry bottom is alway a plus. Ciao Dick Casey AKA The RideNut
@@TheRideNut I've now got most of my '51 M18 project together. I finally got a crank assembly this week. So, I'll start assembly in the next few weeks and all your videos, with super presentation along with your practical skills will be a great help to me. Thanks again.
Hello, I am from Syria. I have 150 motorcycles from 1920 to 1974, including Nortoon M, BSA, and MH. I keep them as a memory from my grandfather because he was a repairman on these bikes.
Thanks for the time and effort you've put into helping others (like me).
Thanks Downunder, I'm always happy to help, and open to recommendations. Thanks for watching, Dick Casey
Fantastic job, well done ✨👍
Thank you Sir! I appreciate your kind comments and for taking the time to watch my video. Ciao Dick Casey, The Ridenut
'promo sm' 🤭
The information in this video is quite wrong. The A.M.C. factory Workshop Instruction Manual gives the following information: "To decide if the bearing tube or the bushes are worn, the spindle diameter is .9995"/.9990, the bush diameter in situ is 1.001". At the factory a pilot reamer 1" diameter is used for these two bushes, for correct alignment." and "The two flanged bushes are housed in steel sleeves which are not supplied separately." Some side street manufacturers made replica tubes (or spindles) with diameter 1.000" and these spindles are of course useless. Preben, Denmark.
Ciao Preben, thank you for your comments and for watching my videos. Safe travels. DC
So superb!
Seems acceptable for a airplane.
Good job all round.
Very nice!! Thank you for sharing. I'm collecting information before staring a restoration/rebuilt of my father's 1949 G80S. Its in pieces with a few items missing, so I find your videos very hepful and inspirational. God Bless!
As usual Dick, an absolutely first class job.
I had a ZB34 back in the sixties, I was an apprentice fitter & turner, it was pretty rough so I stripped it down and rebuilt it. Scouring junk yards for parts was the Saturday job. It turned out ok a good performer as long as you were not in traffic, that Amal TT RN carb had no idle, you were not popular at a traffic light.
Aw Mike... the good old days. Somehow we managed ... fun to reflect back on those times. Thanks for watching! DC
Bravo Dick. great save on that very worn case. Is it your bike? I look foreward to seeing it take shape.
John I don't know if this is my mike or my Albatros . I must admits really enjoy preparing these old beasts. Yep, its all mine, 1950 ZB34GS. Thanks for watching. DC.
What a beautiful beast.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching my Vids, Dick Casey
That was a long ride😮
What a great tutorial!👍
Helo there sir!! Is there any solution for ethanol added fuels coz we here in India will only be having e20fuels....
Brilliant Sir, like all your videos. TY Regards from Germany.
vielen dank! RideNut
Valuable skills to be learned here.
Thanks Bud!
❤
Gosh...... I forgot all about those devilish springs. Old gentleman that operated the AJS/"Matchbox" shop did them by hand too! He never let me in on easing over the edges like that. I can just see the twinkle in his eye as I type this 😊
You made me laugh. Yep, life is easier if you learn a few 'tricks'. Thanks for watching.. The RideNut
Genius 🙌🙌
I think, anno 2023 , the way to go is using a digital caliper.......set the caliper at 2 inches or so, have the piston push up the measring rod of the caliper, set it to zero, then push out to 7/16 inch for 39 degrees.....turn the crankshaft and wait till the piston touches the measuring rod again at 7/16 in compression stroke....
how did you apply the white silicone?
Ciao Gianluca, please look at the video again. I revised it, and you can see I used a squeeze trigger caulking gun. Ciao RideNut
nice to see a video from you, as usual good advice and solutions.
Thank you Keith, I appreciate your comments and your taking time to watch my videos. RideNut
