Let me tell you easy way. put medical thermometer and also the sensor of your thermometer in mouth after 3 minutes take them out and the difference is the error that you need to adjust.

this is great and informative! I'll definitely have to try this the next time I need to dispatch a bird. Thank you for sharing!
You love the humidity pump, but that's the exact reason why you are having problems. It dumps too much water into the reservoir when it never should overflow.
Thank you for this information.
Thank you for this video, helpful and humane and delicious
Glad it helped
No good person takes pleasure in this, but it is what we must do as the circle of life continues. Thank you SO much for sharing, this makes my heart feel lighter about the process without scissors
thank you. but, I'm not sure I get it. What is your thumb on? heart? artery? what exactly are you feeling for? and, is the back of the bird hold just to get the pressure? I hate getting it wrong. want to have just as quick and painless, frightless experience as you have shown.
What kind of lighting do you provide for the quail? I presume that those Christmas lights are just for decoration. Thanks for sharing your set up. Very creative.
No those are the actual lights I use for additional lighting to keep them laying. They look nice and are effective
Hello, I need the centrifugal clutch for that machine. Where can I buy it?
I haven’t had to shop for any parts yet so I am not sure. I believe these are meant to be throw away once broken. If you are using it all the time this may not be the unit for you. Maybe try to find a cheap used one that you can use for parts. Good luck let me know what you find.
I was thinking about using one of these wire racks for my quail and came across your channel. Love the simplicity of all your builds. I'm certain as more people find your videos your channel will become very popular. Thanks for taking the time to create this wonderful resource!
Thank you for the kind words. Glad you like it
This is much better than those double-banded loops they sell. The string looks like it lets their legs move more freely. The premade ones have them tripping. Also the loops on this would be easier to get around their sqirmy legs..... I tried the shot glass technique and found that not to work, ever, since they always manage to jump out.... I recently fixed a splay by putting it into a paper egg carton. They can run around and go from slot to slot but the wall tapers so it always falls to the bottom with legs directed in. That worked so well that I though about making one with a paper bottom and clear top to watch. Of course I punched more airholes before closing the lid.
Interesting. What if the eggs arrived relatively cold like under 50F. Would it be best to let them slowly come to room temperature then put them into the incubator or would you still put them right in there?
Let them come up to room temp for a few hours first
Great setup. I use the cups and they occasionally will freeze. The "valves" that are triggered by the yellow tab get some "junk" in them occasionally and o end up with water in poop tray. I may switch to nipples soon
this or brinsea
I would recommend looking at the Borroto they are great units
@@thelarochellefarm595 need large for emu/ oskritches. I have a couple NR360 and a couple rcoms for the little fetuses
Would be nice to know how much you bought it for.
Was right around $1000 if I remember correctly
It was a very promising share. I tried tonight and it did what you showed in the video, I chucked it aside after 30sec and the bird caught it’s breath whilst I was on the second, the second came back after 60sec of this technique. I pressed VERY firmly too for the second one! So, I went to quail pop and they didn’t come back to life(& injured). I really had hopes for the method in this video… Unfortunately I cannot recommend this method. Sorry. *This was my first time dispatching Quail.
Not sure what’s going on. Have not had that issue. Everyone has a way of dispatching, which ever way works best for you is definitely the way to go. Also if dispatching for consumption you should be removing head.
The best incubator..
Please can you provide a resource explaining this process in detail? I cannot find it referenced anywhere. Thank you! - Phil
Watch the video not sure how else to explain it.
Finally found what compression hold is thank you I love so going to try it and I'll definitely share
Hope you find it helpful
Glad you are getting back into it
Could I ask, Why do you not turn the turner feature on for 48 hours? Is it related to them having been shipped, or do you do the same procedure for eggs you hatch?
Only with shipped eggs. It gives a chance for the air sack to settle and reattach if the eggs had rough handling. Your own eggs there is no need to wait to turn turner on.
@@thelarochellefarm595 Thank you.
Oh I'm so glad you are getting back into quail! Congratulations on winning!
Thank you
I tried this today with a chick that hatched yesterday. Seems to be moving around better. Hopefully it will cure the cute little one.
Usually a couple days with it on and you are good to go.
I am new to quail, only 2wks in since hatching. One unfortunately was injured with a tendon slip. After 3rd day, no improvement. This seemed calm and peaceful from my perspective. Chick is not suffering. Deep breath, it's part of what I signed up for🩷
Hello, does actually do a good job compacting? Ei does it hit hard and compact. I’ve used a rental (other brand) that didn’t seem to compact very well. Thanks
Hi, Yes it does a good job if you work in lifts of 6”-8”.
I just got my 1550 GQF Hatcher! I had two major cracks in both top right and left sides!
It stinks to see them arrive broken but GQF will send out new panels.
I’m fighting with them to give me an exact date and time for pick up they’re gonna send me a whole new machine! Dude I wish I could contact you and talk with you about all of this. I’m literally so frustrated!
I tried to do it this way but my bird kept gasping for breath and didn’t die. Maybe I just don’t have the strength.
Is this okay as a method for human consumption?
Hi, I am sure you could use it BUT I would recommend dispatch method for consumption just so that it bleeds out
nice - what did you use for the poop trays? Purchase or made?
I used the oil pan trays from auto parts store
Thank you for sharing
Glad you liked it
How much do they eat I've got some on order and was wondering how much they eat at this stage.
Not much at all. I would not buy a big bag of feed at first.
Will you need to place the pvc tubing inside the quail cage since the horizontal nipple won't extend out as far? I'm currently working on my first hutch and was thinking about mimicking your setup. Thanks for sharing. Also wondering how far off the cage floor you place them.
Good morning, This setup is working great, I installed a larger heater and have not had any more freeze ups. I think the old heater may have failed and that’s why I had the freeze up. The pipe on the outside works great. I have the nipples about 4”-6” above the floor
@@thelarochellefarm595 Thanks for the response. Would you be able to share which heater and pump you use? I was looking at a low gpm pump because I was concerned that the psi would be too high at the nipple.
@@harrelsonbryan80 this is the pump I use VIVOSUN 130GPH Submersible... www.amazon.com/dp/B07RVHDZN1?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share But I do have a large system attached to that pump. You can likely go small if your cage isn’t as big. I use a 1200 watt stock tank deicer to keep water warm. I use a 300 watt deicer in my chicken set up. For a tank I recommend a cooler. I do have a video on here with my chicken water setup also. I recommend installing tank above cages. It’s easier on the pump to push water down as compared to pull water up. Also if pump ever fails the birds will still get water by gravity feed.
Oh, I like this! I’ve tried Zack’s way, but I’m not good at it. This looks easier. Thanks.
Hope it works well for you.
This helped so much! Thank you for posting this
Glad it helped👍
What was the end result? Did they fix you up?
Will that work in -10 because I saw one person show that it won't freeze. That is if the nipples are in the pipe like yours. Merry Christmas! I love those white birds!
them look like italions
Thanks for the update .. Happy Holidays
How do u get the pitch for roll out
Im try dropping 1” for every foot of floor
Happy quail🐥 indeed! ☺ Thanks for the relaxing video. Blessings🕊
Hay where you been have not seen you anywhere Facebook or anyones live And it’s been 3 months since you have posted a video You ok QP ?
I’m doing good, really busy with work and now with both boys in soccer I don’t have much time left during the day.
@@thelarochellefarm595 I understand life happens Just check to see if you were ok
What is the point of doing this,to squeeze it's heart, that's mean and painful!
This is to give those who may have issues dispatching birds other ways some options. You may think it’s mean and painful while others may not. No meals that you eat end up in a plastic bag for you to purchase on there own.
Thank you so much. This is exactly what I needed.
Glad it helped
from Peru lima I bought a real 49 plus the truth is I had nothing to modify in the incubator the seller told me to only add water to the level of the front tray on the right side and I followed that advice I have been over 2 years and 85% hatch without modify anything and without the sirio even though I have the pump I don't need to install it hopefully it will be of some use to those who have this incubator
When using the pump and setting it to a certain humidity % is where the problem arises. Sure you can fill the trays and not worry about overflowing. One needs to be cautious when using the pump that is where the issue is.
Hola desde Perú también, dónde pudiste adquirir un incubador como ese? Estoy buscando
Brilliant!
I understand for feeders but for eating, myself, I want it to pump the blood 🩸 out to clean the arteries. Maybe with such a small bird, it isn’t an issue🤷♀️
Most would want to bleed it out. I had a request for the head to remain on by a customer for consumption which I found this to work in that case.
I want to sale as whole as possible with the head on which to me makes very nice presentation so I'm going to try this and as soon as it's knocked out and done twitching I'll slit the throat and see how that works out. I'd also like to sale or even for my own consumption
Thanks for sharing
Anytime 👍
This is a god-send. Thanks for posting....
I’m glad you enjoyed it. It’s surely not something I take pleasure in but it is a fact everyone will have to deal with.
Thanks for sharing this alternative dispatch method, Marc!
It’s my pleasure
