I love how your cages turned out. One suggestion. I saw a video where they did the water system similar to yours but used a blue plastic barrel and placed a stock tank heater in it and the pump to keep the pump circulating through the system in the winter. She said she has no ice building up and uses the same nipples that you are using. I plan to use the same water system when I get to the point where my birds end up in outdoor sheds.
Hi, yes I think you are referring to Lauren and her setup. I don’t have an issue with freezing in the winter. What happens in really cold temps is after the birds finish drinking sometimes a drop is left on the catch area of the nipple and will freeze up. I use an aquarium pump and a 250 watt stock tank deicer also. Have not had any problems with water freeze ups. In the summer time with the water tank mounted up top I can turn it into a simple gravity feed setup not requiring the use of pumps. If your tank is located on the ground you will need to use a pump all the time, as well as needing a stronger pump because you will be pushing the water up as opposed to using gravity to help.
The manure trays do not get removed. From one end I will use something similar to a squeegee and push out the other end. The Formica sheets are just to help it slide better.

Could you please give us a idea on how the manure trays are removed?

Excuse me sir... I do not see a dirt box.
What’s a dirt box 🤷🏻♂️
Perhaps it's a bowl of sand for their "dust" bath?
