Have you played the original GTA? The developer of Maniac even states it is heavily inspired by GTA 1&2. The first 2 GTA's are top down chaos. Sure you have missions, but only so much story. It was more the open sandbox nature of GTA 1&2 that got people to stick around. You could steal cars, get guns, and cause chaos. Sounds an awful lot like this game. Also, I do mention Arcade in the title to ensure you know it is not a story oriented game, but more round based.

Pretty sure every gamer does this now lol. Pixel art and retro grade graphics will always win my heart.. but I still have an unholy urge to have a powerhouse PC 😂😂

They say they have plans to incorporate the THUG stories at some point into this overhaul. Dude, I can't wait! Especially with the ability to be able to use other physics styles

It genuinely is. If you're on the fence with it being early access, totally get it. But for being in EA, Heretical is pretty stuffed with content already. Definitely keep an eye on it 👍

They are in the game actually! There is an extra match option for bonus fighters. Two of them being the duo's of Itchy & Scratchy, and then Mr. Burns & Smithers

@@thequ4u73 Road Rage for sure of the three is the best. Especially when you play and see all the dialogue exchanges between the characters. Yeah it's limited, but really cool that it's there

I found the story mode of road rage really repetitive. But couch co op, playing against a friend...legitimately top tier

@@SirblueshueifyUnfortunately I don't believe there is a way to do it on console due to it requiring the Windows edition to play. But you can play with controller! I'm using my PS5 controller to play it here.

@@SkinnysBooks For as old as it Daggerfall is, it still goes hard. The world building is definitely strong, and the gameplay is decent. It's all free, so definitely worth a look!

@@GamerInTheWardrobe If I would have known about it at the time, then I would have loved it. It's still fine, just dated. After spending some more time with it after this video I'd say I'm putting it off for awhile until I'm done with the Kingdom Hearts series 😂

@@GamerInTheWardrobe I thought that while playing it. The gameplay is smooth, pretty fun, and links together well. At the time it came out it would have been the only other game that kind of resembled something from Bethesda. Also, the graphics are still pretty fucking preem

@@generationwhyentertainment2455 I was actually thinking about this as I came to the end of my THAW story from this video. U1 not only gives you the traditional underdog to star story, but also one of betrayel and heart. U2 gave you silly hijinks, fun hangout moments, and really off the wall happenings 😂 felt truly like you were on tour with them. But THAW is my favorite due to you becoming a legend vs a pro. You live a whole life with your character, travel around, and get quite a bit of world building. It's a really close race in my eyes between THAW & THUG1, but just from a personal standpoint THAW comes out on top for me.

@ THUG 2 is really the sign that in the mid 2000s skateboarding as a mainstream thing was starting to go out and the only thing holding it together was its connection to Jackass which was also on its way out of mainstream popularity. It was a fun game but it just didn’t hold up I will say I appreciate THAWs open world for the story mode and that’s probably why this mod went with that.

@generationwhyentertainment2455 God that's a good point with THUG2 leaning into Jackass culture. I didn't even think of it that way. That might be why THAW didn't go with the classic AM to Pro story & instead went with one about the very soul of skateboarding. You make a name for yourself on the street, not for sponsors. You are just excited to meet your heroes, prove your worth, make friends, and be free to stick it to the man. It did this really well in my eyes and I guess I just love that rough & ratchet world that THAW gives me. It really feels like skate culture. I am excited since I saw that the developers of RETHAWed plan to have THUG 1&2 stories come to the mod later on!

@ damn if that’s the case then I’ll have to get it soon I would have been like 13-14 when THUG 2 came out and my friends and I jokingly referred to it as Viva La Bam the game. Even the style of the cutscenes is very similar to viva La bams editing. THAW felt like a better successor story to THUG 1 for sure. A different take on the sports movie style story. THAW was like one of the last games I played before I started high school and it has a very “end of the Wild West” feeling to it. Like after that there was project 8 which I still to this day have not played. And shortly after I’d grow out of jackass stuff and lose interest in skater culture as I moved to High School.

@generationwhyentertainment2455 I was about 10 or 11 when THUG 2 came out, so it was the perfect thing for little me to get hyped about. "Donna! You're rack is WiCkEd Awesum!" So many good quotes 😂 And THAW definitely was the end of an era. It felt very grown up, as though it all culminated in this. Project 8 was fun, but not memorable, same for Proving Grounds.

@@VladimirDev Absolutely! The demo showed a lot of what to expect as you develop the game. But really, I think you have something here. Especially as the gameplay itself tightens up and finds more of a flow 👍

@@LeonardoSilva-xm8ft The soundtrack for sure sits at the top of the list to create that feeling. But then you add in the fact it's still a challenging game with pretty tight gameplay, and that's was separated it from purely a kids game. It was a good balance

What is your PC identifying as the problem? Is it the ReTHAWed launcher? Or the Windows version of THAW?

Nevermind you noticed during combat! I think what happened in the first adventure was (besides getting caught stealing :D) that you kinda auto-ran / moved to a new position really quickly. As these games are turn based, every time you moved, a whole bunch of actions happened. Best to take your time during combat. Keep in mind that anytime you move, everyone else does too. potentially even multiple actions if they're a lot "faster" than you.

@@Rocknoob49 I am definitely not used to traditional roguelikes 😅 I love roguelites, especially due to the much faster pace, so going slow is not my forte 😂 When 1.0 drops I'll need to stream it so hopefully I can get some help as I go through. I did not consider the fact of everyone else only moves when I move. That will really help the next time I try it!

That's my mistake. I am much more accustomed to saying roguelite at this point, and slipped up 😅
