This one was a single fire but I highly suggest bisque firing before painting and glazing

Yes, it is heat resistant. It’s been made of stoneware clay that gets fired to high temperatures in a kiln

I use stoneware clay which needs to be fired to very high temperatures in a kiln. If the bottom of the pieces are glazed then they will stick to the kiln shelf when being fired. Glaze melts and fuses to any surface it touches, so any point of the piece that will touch the kiln shelf cannot have any glaze on it

I used underglaze watered down for a smoother consistency and then transparent glaze over

I highly suggest glazing after bisque. In this case I just knew that with this specific glaze it works for a single firing. So to be sure and to avoid potential issues I’d say to rather glaze after bisque

Functional ware (mugs, bowls, plates etc.) needs to be made from stoneware (a type of clay) that then gets fired in a kiln to 1200 degrees Celsius

Air dry clay and stoneware are very different - stoneware needs to be fired to a high temperature to strengthen and become a functional ceramic whereas air dry clay doesn’t need to be fired. You can find air dry at a pottery supply store or an arts and craft store. Hope this helps!✨

@@ezza5661 hi! For this type of clay it needs to be fired - the firing process turns the clay into ceramic, making it strong and functional. If you left it as is you won’t be able to use it for food and drinks and it will be very delicate. You can get food safe air dry clay if I’m not mistaken - which won’t need to be fired. Hi! Yes this is high fire clay - I use white stoneware. I don’t have a link for the exact clay I use but you should be able to find something similar at any pottery supply store ☺️ hope this helps!

I suggest using a seamstress measuring tape to wrap around the bowl and mark out equal sections. For the arch of each scallop you can cut out a template from paper to trace along the bowls edge. Hope this helps!
