Exploring The Mystical Beauty Of Moody Gardens
We traveled to Galveston, Texas to take in the beautiful Moody Gardens. Moody Gardens is a beautiful Aquarium, Atrium, and Discovery museum, all housed in glass pyramids. But it doesn't stop there, Moody Gardens also has a Hotel, a water park, and a steam Paddle wheel boat for dinners. We would definitely recommend one or two days here. There is soo much to take in that extra time is needed. Moody Gardens aquarium was a really cool setting, and they had the flow of exhibits set up perfectly, event with two school groups in the aquarium at the same time as us, we never had a blocked view. Unfortunately we had camera issues in the "Rain Forest" Atrium that we didn't noticed until we tried to upload so we were not able to share that, but it was just as neat as the aquarium was. This was a fun get away for a day for sure, and the ferry was pretty cool too, a lot of Dolphins to be seen.
Thank You

Our take on the Victron Orion DC/DC charger, and how we installed it.
มุมมอง 2.3K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
EDIT: we misspoke in the video, we said 600MAH but meant 600AH worth of battery storage. Sorry for the confusion. Of all the products we changed or integrated in 2023 the Victron Orion DC/DC Charger is without a doubt the BEST. We were on the fence about installing the Orion DC/DC Charger because to be honest we just didnt quite understand it at the time. This thing is awesome!! Our original 7-...

If you have an outlet tester, you can plug it into your generator and watch it fail over the floating neutral. I don't get why they don't do this in a inverter generators out of China, especially the 120V variety. There is an excuse for larger 240V generators because some people hook these into their homes and already have a ground-neutral bond. However for the 120V only generators, it doesn't seem anybody hooks them into stationary house power, so it doesn't make any sense to not have ground-neutral bond there. You should always have one and only one ground-neutral bond in your system. It is not safe otherwise. Your surge protector will either not be able to work or in this case refuse to work because it can't do its job without this ground-neutral bond. So when it refuses to turn on, it is actually doing the only thing it can do at that point to keep you safe, which is refuse to accept that power. Here is another way to put it. I have not heard legitimate stories of any of these Chinese inverters or inverter generators burning out due to someone setting up a ground - neutral bond. At the same time the NEC codes are there for a reason and everything is designed around them. So either you add a single ground - neutral bond when you can verify that there is none, which is very easy to check for or you operate an unsafe system. You can just look and see the label and even if you don't, just put the outlet tester in there to get a quick answer. You should have a tester anyway for your home / apartment as often there is something wrong there, especially with older homes and slumlord management for apartments. If you find you need to add this single ground - neutral bond, but are afraid of damaging your inverter / inverter generator, remember that not complying to NEC codes, especially around a ground - neutral bond can lead to you being electrocuted and subsequent death. This can be just touching any electrical appliance with a metal surface such as your toaster oven as they all may end up energized at the same time with no path back to source until you complete that circuit with your body unwittingly. Everything that is supposed to be safe to touch instead being energized is a very bad place to be all because you didn't have this ground - neutral bond there. So I would say better to burn out that PoS inverter generator now than to burn out your body later. If the inverter generator does fry, which I am pretty sure it won't, it is a lot easier to replace than your body.

This works for RV's with outside enclosures. Inside an enclosed space the legal limit people can transport is 90 lbs, the cylinders must be upright, held by a strap and turned off while driving. I'm surprised more RV camp sites aren't offering a 100 lb tank to use for free and renting a cargo dolly to move it for $20 a day.

Correct because they only run a brake simulator on it. We ended up going to probably a dozen different dealers before one actually cared enough to dive deep into it. There is something wrong with the tcm programming and it drops communication randomly. There is a soft code that needs to be cleared . This is what they told me. And since we got the truck back we haven’t had any issue with it since. I hope I didn’t just jinx myself, lol. Also there is a TSB for the trailer module out now. Hope this helps.

Maybe I misunderstood what you were hoping to achieve but it sounded like you purchased the wrong model Orion, Isolated insteand of non-isolated. In any case, regardless of the model as long as it's setup correctly, I've been very happy with my Orion dcdc. The unit is under specified whereby I have seen it charging at 35 amp even though it is specified as a 30 amp charger. Of course there is a 50 amp version now which would be ideal for a setup such as yours. In my case I only have 170AH of battery capacity and the combination of 30 amp DCDC with 200 watts of solar via Victron MPPT charger provides a consistent power supply for my application. Thanks for sharing. Cheers from OZ

Most of the time isolated isn't required, but can be useful with trailers. Here is a quote from an EE on the topic: "Galvanically isolated is a nice thing to have, especially if you are charging house batteries in a trailer from the tow vehicle engine. The issue relates to how the house battery is grounded to chassis ground when the tow vehicle is disconnected."

@@fratermus5502 Am I correct is saying that you're referring to the ground related to the AC circuit for an anboard AC charger ? Cheers

@@cyclemoto8744 ground as in "NEG return" in the DC circuit. DC-DC chargers require two POS connections by necessity (in from alternator and out to battery bank), but usually only one NEG connection. The isolated version is useful when there is not a unitary NEG available: disconnected trailers, fiberglass bodies, etc.

@@fratermus5502 I get that but this can be overcome by adding a dedicated neg circuit in the trailer instead of using chassis grounding. Cheers

How much electric draw does your DEHUMIDIFIER take?

On load it says it pulls out 7.8A. We have never had a problem with amp draw with this unit. We are on our third year with it and still are impressed with the amount of water we pull out of the air. I hope that helps. Thank you for watching.
