Lube your shaft all the way! 👀
You guys send it to Femto?
@@adolfogonzalez1305 yes. Any G80 ever made has to go to Femto.
That lube is in excess if you dont wipe the bottom clean. The rest is pushed off
Is there a difference between you guys doing it and sending it to Sweden?
There is not. Any DME produced after 06/20 has to be sent to Finland.
Boy do I have a tip for installing those keepers, put a plastic clear bag on top of your retainer with the keepers in the retainer then press it all together and the plastic will keep the valve keepers from coming out of place and it's works like a charm
I love the color on it
@@Croissantman00 thank you!

Where is the dyno video?
Ugly front bumper !!!!!!🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈
Looks good. Are there any things you would do preventatively on an S54 other than vanos exhaust hub and bolts, upper timing chain guide, and possibly rod bearings depending on mileage? I’ve heard the oil pumps can occasionally fail but it seems uncommon.
Oil pumps are extremely uncommon, but if servicing chains and rails, might as well throw an upgraded pump in. Electric fan conversion is worth it. You covered all the bases, valve adjustment is a good one I’d say every 25k depending how hard you drive the car.
@@znmperformance thanks!
Terrible argument, i ain't paying for someone elses wish to boost it.
You must’ve never built an engine before. Ok $50 bucks for a set of stock head bolts. $240 for ARP. In the grand scheme of things - this is a minimum $15,000 job out the door. Anyone who pulls the “ain’t paying for someone else’s wishes” - we’d just eat the price difference. Next day, customer walks in wearing ARP shirt. If $150 is a problem in a $15,000 job, this life ain’t for you.
yeah, you aint paying for your own wish to boost it either
@@znmperformancestraight to the point. Better to install the aftermarket part, if anything for peace of mind (and future upgrades)
Oh that's just crazy talk,😂 I bet you use a torque wrench on your bolt too,, You're probably one of those guys that says if you take the head off it has to be milled before you put it back on😂 just put three gaskets on it it'll be fine😅😅😅😅😅
typical BMW.. terrible design...
you must not know a thing about the s54 engine
@@rogerdelfin9334 i know that what you just taught me is that none of these vehicles is repairable in the field without BMW's special assistance, because parts are not interchangeable "as a design feature".. which means as an owner i gotta pay bullshit money for basic services on any of it.. Why?? ask me how I know..
@@rogerdelfin9334whats the reason then for not making them all the same .....
@@matth523I think you’re relating a traumatizing event at repair shop with this video and trying to justify your comment. Not sure what “special assistance” you talk of, but none of that is needed. I guess you could argue you need to drop a few bones for a repair manual - otherwise that’s about it. Every brand has their own special tools needed etc etc, but even then most of these tools can be sourced by OEM’s or aftermarket for a fraction of the price. Back on topic - this is a design feature followed by many different manufacturers and many internal parts. The solid rocker arm design on the S54 along with the rest of the valve train is far from terrible - it’s actually quite genius. One could bring up the shortcomings of the bottom end - but even then it’s not a “design” issue - more of a miscalculation issue.
@@znmperformance making parts that cannot be interchanged from one like engine to another is what I'm talking about, which was the entire point of your vid.. and just cuz "they all do it now" doesn't make it right..

Bmw will warranty that and give you a loaner
Good to see someone taking the time to measure things. One critique is that main studs usually will have finer thread pitch as well as higher torque specs, meaning much higher clamping loads. This can distort a journal, so you should always measure clearances with the same hardware and procedure you will be using for final assembly.
Thank you! And yes, you bring up a great point. Considering we do a few of these S54’s it wouldn’t hurt to keep a set of ARP main studs whose sole purpose of existence is for zipping down to spec to measure clearances and then remove.
Do the main bearing 👍🏻 that's the real issue
Wrong, that's never been an issue.
Strange. I usually just set the impact gun to “on” and send it.
Good job but you do realize BMW will void your warranty due to the fact that you not used the recommended oil. Trust me I know this is a fact as they screwed over my buddy who even though used the correct oil but diff filter like you. Good Luck!
Wrong. Your buddy needs a lawyer. Any Craigslist lawyer can handle this. I’ve been down this road before and it’s not a debate or an argument. This is black and white and we have opinions and then the law. BMW cannot void your warranty for using a MANN or Hengst filter. I mean they can, they most likely will if given the opportunity - but it’s up the to the owner to initiate litigation. In the State of NJ - both parties would never see a judge - it’ll most likely get settled in arbitration.
How's the ride quality on those super low profile tires? Any issues with the transfer case since this is not OEM spec?
Same when you give a bmw tech an audi. Such garbage to work on.

If that is the factory break in oil it's not 0w30. It's a low detergent straight weight.
BMW is not putting low detergent straight weight at the factory knowing people are going to put 10,000 miles on oil changes possibly 15,000.

So you’re gonna damage the valve stem oil seal when you put that valve back in. We’re it’s been in the chuck
Brass wire wheel go brrrrrrrr. But i didnt think to polish the face with grinding compound.
Isn't the drill chuck going to damage the valve stem? I would at least put an aluminum can shim to prevent it from damaging the stem.
"dont use gasoline, im an expert, i can use gas, you guys at home should not" -how to instantly invalidate anything you have to say by being a prick.
Bet you voted for Biden. But yes, this dude is an absolute prick.
@@znmperformancethat's one way to tell people you're insecure. Bring up politics in response to something completely unrelated and think it's an absolute zinger.
@@2fourtango952 LMAO INSECURE MY ASS. Child, Listen. FFS how does he advising NOT TO USE GASOLINE because HE IS AN EXPERT make him a prick? He has a fire extinguisher on deck and other safety equipment, IN A PROPERLY VENTILATED FACILITY. Key ******* element between a fully equipped facility and a house. How about this. How about not stating something is invalidated because someone appears to be a “prick.” That’s exactly what’s wrong with the god damn world. Life is binary. 1’s and 0’s. We don’t pray to god the bolt is torqued. It don’t work that way. When something fails we don’t attend church and look for the answer. Causality. For every action there is a reaction. Relevancy see below… “I am an expert” - he is an expert. “I can use gas” - fully equipped facility, ventilated, fire suppression and MOST IMPORTANTLY DISPOSAL. “You guys at home should not”. - Show me a damn home equipped with what we have. Out of the 8 billion + people in the world I am sure one exists in favor of your argument - but the chances of them being in these comments. Low. (Note - see how I didn’t say impossible). You **** around with gasoline, the shit can hit the fan real quick and you got a big problem on your hand. Ahh, back to causality. There are tons of people we consider “pricks”, but guess what - we have nothing wrong with admitting that “prick” is still sensible. Trying to understand how one’s perception of someone allows them to invalidate what they’re saying. Call him a prick. A piece of 💩. Whatever you want. Won’t hurt our feelings. Like I stated before, he is a prick - but that doesn’t invalidate what he’s saying. Don’t bring the politics into it. It’s a joke.
