The UNTOLD FUNCTION of LIVE SCOPE: Every Boat Need This
After a near miss boat incident, I came up with this idea of a new use of forward facing sonar. No matter you are against it or for it, maybe we have all been treating the forward facing sonar "wrong"??-- FFS can look at fish, but FFS could also do this to make everyone happy!

Rods: WHY Length and Weight are almost Pointless: look for these 2 HIDDEN specs instead
มุมมอง 9K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
When talking about long rods and short rods, we often only refer to the rod total length. Actually the entire rod industry tends to do so. However, for artificial bait fishing such as bass fishing and trout fishing where a lot of wrist casting is involved, how much rod is actually constantly being used is not always reflected by its total length. Same can be said about the rod weight. A lot of ...

Its pretty simple and obvious. Its for rich people who dont even like fishing. It is the most disappointing thing i have ever seen in fishing. I cant even begin to understand how any angler cant see it. Its the end of fishing.
Coming from R&D industry, I honestly think it might come from a couple engineers who could not catch fish, turned around made this so fish (almost) have nowhere to hide, almost like a nerdy personal revenge lol
I think the obvious comparison is how almost every other sport has limits on technology to keep the "sport" in the sport. Why does baseball not allow aluminum bats? Why are there limits on golf clubs and ball technology when we could easily design equipment to exponentially hit balls further? Why do we have any rules in bass fishing at all? I think FFS is awesome technology and has allowed us to learn so much more about bass. On the other hand, it is completely boring to watch someone stare at a scope all day. so I think the obvious answer is to allow FFS in practice but not in tournaments.
What make the pros pro, and what are the fishing tournaments competing for...sportsmanship is out the window, although A-rig and netting is still banned in the name of sportsmanship.
Hit that reply button too soon, but also, how much of the new things learnt by FFS is actually applicable to fishing not using FFS is another question. A lot of the fish-bait reactions realized by FFS had pretty much taken the "strike zone" factor out of the equation, so the fish reaction has a precondition which is keeping the bait in the proximity of fish. Without FFS, one can barely make sure every cast is close to fish.
Hello, Not my beach but well told. See you at the next post "weekend fisherman". Cheers

Just because you can see the fish doesn’t mean that they are going to eat your bait. People are hilarious, they think that having FFS is cheating and that it’s so easy to use and it guarantees you that you’re gonna catch fish. Also I can’t stand people that have never used FFS but continue to bash it and say it’s cheating. I would love to see someone come on my boat and try and use FFS, and watch them struggle man I would pay to see that
I don't think it's cheating at all. Just like A-rig, not cheating. At the top pro level, I know nowadays you will need to have it to compete, but it's not that much of sportsmanship, also similar to the reason BASS banned the A-rig. Regarding the "you still need to make it bite" part, I also agree it is not guaranteed bite, meanwhile this is also true for folks who fish without FFS -- they also need to make the fish bite without seeing the fish on the screen reacting to the bait. Not sure which is more challenging. To me, FFS is not making fishing more difficult. It expands the capability of anglers.
I would love to see you turn it off. Why not? It's nothin... Right? That's what I thought.
Very well spoken. As far as obstacle avoidance, buying FFS just for this would be like buying insurance. Most people would rather take the chance than but insurance just for this.
Dude the underwater senator killed me lol 😂. Great idea on using ffs for safety .
Thanx Bassniper. I fish club level and a few open tournaments. The FFS has definitely impacted that level. I look at this as someone will always have a bigger or better boat, a more sensitive rod, a further casting reel and yes better electronics. In pro level you better have the best or your at a huge disadvantage. Being able to see a fish eat your lure probably has gone to far. It's hard enough to call bass fishing a sport. There's still talent involved with FFS but being able to skip a jig under a overhang or pitch a worm between two dock pilings without a splash is more of a sporting talent. Bottom line, I don't like it but if I was pro, I'd have it.
Agree, at top pro level if one is not in NPFL in 2025, he better be having it on the boat and know how to use it. My thing with FFS in top level tournament is, among "traditional" tactics, ie. jig, jerkbait, deep cranking, frogging etc, one can never find one tactic that could be dominating 90-95% (maybe more) of the top tourneys. When Scott Martin was using FFS to fish for bedding bass in Florida, that was the moment for me to call it too much lol Tight lines.
A better description would be directional sonar.
We in eastern europe have mounted LIVE sonars on a movable handles since they came out. No one ever hard bolted the "FFS" to the boat. For us it is not a a FFS, because we can turn it any direction we want.
Lol, no one has it hard mounted to the boat......
@@kenneth9874they’re all mounted to something that turns back and forth 😂😂
Forward refers to the direction of the sonar beam, unlike traditional sonar which pins down to the bottom. Early versions were mounted on the trolling motor shaft, now there are a couple dozen options to mount it everywhere on the boat.
Lol. It's called "forward" because the transducer shoot the beam forward. Rather than down. If you have it pointed left... It is still shooting "forward". Which is one of the many reasons it is completely unethical cheating.
I just want to use my new electric device I am working on to shock the fish just like game department’s do !
Its about its use in tournaments. And you never answered my question about your use of Kanji (Japanese) when you are Chinese.
According to TH-cam I replied 7 days ago. You might have some misunderstanding of what Kanji is-- Kanji(漢字) literally means Han Characters in Japanese. Here is the original answer: [Kanji is Han Character, which is Chinese, don't see any problem here. If you are referring to "simplified Chinese character简体字" -- I grew up reading books in the "traditional characters正體字" so have no problem switching back and forth, plus the pronunciation are essentially the same." ] link to the response: th-cam.com/video/hK_lEdr2F3o/w-d-xo.html&lc=Ugw_7kKhQqxEHJWxibl4AaABAg.ABzPchSd0T4ABzYDbfJTwH&si=wEnNezTI0LtRuHZx Japanese unique characters are Hiragana and Katakana. Even if you are referring to hiragana and katakana, I also don't see why I am not allowed to use...I do speak a little Japanese as well, just like I was using English in the other channel. TH-cam also allow creator to add different languages to the content and Japanese is one of the auto-translated options as well. About FFS, yes, that was what I said.
No one is against new tech. However, there are people who are against taking unfair advantage of our shared resources.
I agree, cause if you can't fish without this tech your are not a real fisherman you become a no nothing cheater, and in tournaments it should be banned.

Same shiet under different name Stradic Ci4 then Vanford. Junk reel at a premium price.

Great video, very good and detailed presentation, with perfect examples and comparisons! You skipped to point out one detail that makes this lure a gem, in combination with all the others you mentioned.

#1 is the bass puzzle grass piece. Grass and wood and rock. Basically anywhere and can be used like a buzz bait too. Ultra versatile and add any trailer type get it to do more. 🎉
My Vanford FA, I upgraded to cnc cut Carbontex Drag washers, I have never been a fan of Felt washers, all my bigger Penn reels all have carbon fibre Drag washers.
I was gonna get a ballistic mq but found a vanford on sale for $170. Hope im not disappointed. Love my tatula so this is surely an upgrade. Old tat. No mq.
Youre comoaring a $200 reel to $600 plus reels. No shit its not as smooth as the stelka. Everything gonna feel shitty compared to stella or twin power.
Hi ! Wery good video ! My Vanford has this problem !!
Definitely not a fluke problem unfortunately.
I read that Diawa uses shimano gears.
Static cross drag is a marketing phrase and that’s it. You can compare the new felt drag to older generations and there is no difference.
Shimano reels are overrated and overpriced. You can buy Lew’s, PFlueger and Okuma for much cheaper and receive much higher end features.
I bought a whole pile from Japan when they were released, love these baits. has delivered when nothing else worked. fishing for perch in Sweden

It's a 26$ lure here in sweden and just come in two colors in the local shop but I probebly will pick up atleast one but wont put it into the water without a foot of 0.6fc leader to secure it from pike. My favorit bladed-jig is the eye-chatter and that's a 7$ lure. :P Just found you channel but i will sub and stick around great, detail info. :)
Try Digitaka, JLS and Asianportal. The Fine version is around $8 a piece, problem is they are gone fast. Thanks for the support!
Thanx Bassniper. Great video, now I know why I like my MGL spools. I do use braid for backing due to weight but always wondered if braid held more water weight and should switch to mono? The Einstein wig cracked me up!
Great question. I have yet to measure this but will, and will be a good thing to know. Mono will absorb some water as well. Most of the surface water is "scraped off" by rod guides and reel line winder.
Thanx Bassniper. You may have lost a few Diawa fans. I'm a Shimano fisherman so your alright in my book. I do believe Diawa my have the edge in spinning reels. My first baitcaster was a Curado and 30+ years later I'm still throwing Curados. Reel technology in the last 20 years really has been amazing to follow.
Shimano reels in a timeframe was built like a tank. I hope they stay the course.
Great job explaining. Very informative. Keep them videos coming 🔥
One other thing to prevent snags that isn't often mentioned is the type of trailer. Something like a Zako or Spunk Shad is quite pointed on the bottom. So they tip and fall over when they deflect on cover with traditional chatterbaits. Something with a wider, flat bottom like a creature bait largely prevents this. And that's another nice thing about the Jackall. Because of the "kick stands" on the bottom that prevent roll, you can go back to using things like the Zako in heavy cover without worry. Also, really great channel. The underwater footage when provided is particularly useful. Your detailed explanation WITH underwater video is about as good as it gets. More please!
Exactly, the Jackhammer due to the open hook design restricts trailer selection. I use Beaver, SpaceMonkey etc for going through woods but like you said, makes the overall profile big. Thanks for the support. Will do.
@BassniperEng If you want a pintail bait with flat bottom designed for chatterbait, check out the Nories Hulabug.

You lost me when you said the jackhammer doesn’t work in cold water. 💀
Literally said "does not work well", not "does not work". Give it a try and you will know what I mean. Out fishes Jackhammer in water below 40 F 4:1, especially when need to do bottom hopping in weeds or close to woods.
Now that the patent is ending hopefully Jackall brings these over to usdm
AMAZING video sir! Wow. The analytical breakdown of the design upgrades and how they relate to each respective companies business approach is fascinating, and as shown by you....undeniable. I never stopped to think about it, but when seen in the charts it was such an "ah ha!" moment of Daiwa rolling out new tech in the middle tier models. I had an original T3, albeit the lower T3 Ballistic. And, like many I was incredibly excited for the new T-Wing system. It was amazing and seemed so logical. But, like many, many others those T3's were highly prone to breakages (on mine....two spools failed via MagForce inductor seperation, as well as the hood mechanism). I have also had a critical failure on the original Lexa 100 (when it FIRST came out....perhaps the design was improved over its product life), and a clutch failure on my 1st generation (Silver) Daiwa Ryoga 1016. I have around 25 reels, mostly Daiwa and Shimano, but also Okuma, Lews, Quantum, and Tica....and those Daiwa's were the only ones to ever outright fail. However, my favorite reels are also my Daiwas, that being the 2008-2012 TD Zillion, and those 1st gen Ryoga's (1016 and 2020). I never owned a flagship low profile bait caster, and just recently I purchased the 2021 Antares DC. I have yet to use it, but I think it may skew my favorite category a bit....haha. To your point on reliability and longevity I am in lock-step. In my mind, I feel that a reel should essentially last a lifetime, and can even be handed down as long as regular maintenance is done. There is nothing that intrinsically ages and/or wears out aside from perhaps the drag washers depending on material. Bearings can be replaced if they are that far gone. But, realistically I believe can last decades with proper lubrication. Thank you so much for this video. Your knowledge, degree of homework you did, and ability to show and explain these metrics and ideas are absolutely TOP NOTCH. GREAT work!!! Just watched one other video of yours that was also excellent. Immediate subscription! :)
I agree. I hope all the reels are like the old Abu C series etc, literally get passed down generations. Some of the Shimano's are built this way. In general I feel the spinning reels are not as durable as the baitcasters because of the structure difference. You will love the 21 Antares DC, it is one of those built like a tank. My HG has been working flawlessly, I use it from deep water cranking to spinnerbait to jerkbait and swimjig in the weeds, still as smooth as butter. Thanks for the support, I found your channel as well, love your big bait vids, super informative and just relaxing to watch. Hope you come back to post more vids! Tight lines buddy!!
Glad I found your channel... I'd love to see your take on the best rod for a chatter bait !
I've been throwing the Chatter bait a lot in cold cold water and had one of my best days this year ... I live the Grass piece ... fishes amazing in heavy cover
For Jackhammer I use 2 rods: Megabass 2014 Evoluzion Diablo F5.5-68Ti (for medium to close quarter applications) and Megabass 2017 Destroyer USA Javelin for distant or deep water applications (7-5 MH MF composite rod). I'm sure there are many other great options but I have been a fan of Megabass for over 16 years now. They are not only beautiful but also functional IMO. I'm not a big fan of using glass rods for chatter baits. I fish hard weed/grass a lot, glass rods give too much to jerk the chatter off of the weed, and when they do it creates a huge darting distance. I like the composite or graphites with high power, whose blank bottom kicks in much quicker. When you jerk the rod to pull chatter off the weed, a small quick wrist pump will do it, the chatter comes off with speed but short distance, this is when I found success in triggering those reaction bites. Hope this helps. If you are looking for a chatterbait rod, good luck! If you are interested in Megabass, P5 Blade (very similar to Evo Diablo) or MadBull are both great options.
@@BassniperEng I have the Madbull! Love it ... I've seen a lot guys throwing the Daemos for the Chatter bait ... Hope I spelled it right lol
