I 4.5☆ed kingdom of sweets. It did lose a ½ star bc it did drag at the end. I did preorder it and was hyped. The biggest thing that pbly helped me was knowing about the history it incorperates, like the events leading up to and including Bloody Sunday and the 1905 and 1917 revolutions. The beginning was the better half, but she did a fantastic job with a very tough task (IMO). I do always try to read Dumas annotated. He loved to put in obscure historical references and pop culture references from his time, which leaves modern readers missing a lol without a bounch of footnotes (about 200 in The Three Musketeers for example).

Adding all of these to my list for 2025 and I know that I will have some amazing rereads too ❤❤❤

Wow, the Lara Adrian series is a blast from the past! I used to love that series but have not finished it either (I think it has 18 books) 🎅

I also wasn’t crazy about the second book in the Skyland series. But I’ve been waiting for Hendrix’s book since she’s my favorite character. So I hope hers will be great!

I think in That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Human he calls her something like "weak human" and I die for it. I'm fine with little most of the time because it relates more to her size rather than personality or prowess.

Well... Shadow of the Gods just got bumped up on my TBR. LOL. I completely agree though that you should DNF books you aren't liking. You just don't have enough time to read books you aren't enjoying. I DNF'ed Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell because I just didn't care about the characters.

Agreed, I love to DNF! Every time I force myself to finish I end up in a reading slump. I also DNFed letters to the Luminous Deep because the letters were too much for me!

What about "little witch"? That's the Nicname for the witch in Seduced by the Fae Princess by Luna Fury,. It does make sence for three reasons, 1 she is smaller than the princess, 2 fae lifespan makes her much younger (approx age 35), and 3 she's just learning about her powers. And for me the fact they're both women helps take some of the bite out of it and make it cuter. I wish I could remember some of the odder ones I came accross. I do call my dog Creature, but it's usually "creature feature", and noodle is most common. 😇
