Deadhead is one of my favorite songs and the Royal Albert Hall performance is especially great. Many reaction channels (including my own) have done videos of that song so I thought I would compile some of my favorite moments from each reaction.

*Reuploaded due to my dumbness...left 35-40 seconds of me getting setup at the beginning!* Sorry for the really bad audio. I lost my mic adapter so I had to use my phone's built-in mic. Next couple videos will be bad like that, but then will get better again :D

Goose House was amazing. Kei Takebuchi is a wonderful singer. They did a lot of wonderful covers and originals.
@@schelin1447 Yeah! I’ve watched a few more and they are all really good. Do you know what the concept behind the group was? From wiki, it sounded like they all lived together for a time.
That audio was DEFINATELY LIVE!! This band is WAY better LIVE!!!
素敵なカバーですね。
Nice cover
Oops, my previous comment returned an error and deleted when i tried to edit it. If you want some recommendations and you haven't reacted to the other songs written for Babymetal by Yuyoyuppe, they are in order of greatness (according to me) Monochrome, Rondo of Nightmare, From Dusk till Dawn, Kagerou, Believing and GJ. The first 3 are essential Babymetal.
@@Ryujin170 Oops haha. Thanks, I will check those out.
Hi J, fun reaction and analysis. Subbed based on you saying you'll be checking out more. You'll love how the mix up that classic rock sound with all sorts of other genres in other pieces. If you promise in your videos to go down the pigeon hole with Band-Maid, you'll probably get a ton more subs! Fun Note: The drummer of Band-Maid, Akane, was inspired by the female drummer of Maximum the Hormone to learn the drums. Also: we Madiacs are a font of knowledge about our Maids. 😉
Thanks, Mike! That's awesome about the drummer connection to MTH...I'm not surprised! So much talent over there. I might have to take a trip over there just to see some of these bands perform live!
You just can't go wrong with Band-Maid. Well over 100 songs to choose from, and every one is awesome one way or another. This performance of Thrill was one of a 33 song set, and the whole show was amazing from start to finish. Go Band-Maid!
Wow...33 songs! Crazy. The sad thing about most of these Japanese bands I find...they never tour the US outside of many 1-2 performances in Los Angeles.
@@jReactor That is usually true, but Band-Maid toured the U.S. twice last year (in May and August), and they also performed at several festivals including Lollapalooza. I am in the U.K. and the maids haven't been to Europe since before Covid, so praying for a European tour next year.
My recommendation is LOVEBITES' live version of "Holy War."
17年くらいに、JIMMY PAGEがドラムのAKANEを褒めてから、イギリスと日本で一気に人気が出たよね。
情報ありがとうございます!
A good choice for your first Band-Maid song. This is the song that really started their career. The great thing about Band-Maid is they love seeing what people think of their music. They won't take your videos down. As for songs, they've plenty to choose from. You might like some more than others but all their music is good. Probably the big two right now are going to be Domination (official live) or Hate? (official live from their 10th anniversary tour).
Welcome to Maid`s journey! Many songs are waiting you.
Thank you!
THRILL has the most views because it was their first video, released eight years ago. Today it sounds rather quaint and low energy in comparison to the material that followed. Try this live performance next: DOMINATION, 14th February 2020 - DOMINATION (live) - th-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/w-d-xo.html (Save the most recent concerts for later.)
Who would have thought that one of the best hard rock bands on the planet would consist of five Japanese ladies wearing maid uniforms? This video was indeed them playing live. There was not an audience present due to Covid restrictons at that time. Some songs for you to check out are Moratorium, No God, Rinne, and Matchless Gum. Also, they have several live videos from Yokohama Arena during their 10th Anniversary Tour that are incredible. Hatte and Don't You Tell Me are bangers with guitar vs bass duels, and Endless Story is a tear jerker ballad. Have fun with your journey into the Pigeon Hole! FYI... The Pigeon refrences are due to the band founder, Miku Kobato, identifying as an 810 year old pigeon. Yes that is weird. Get used to it, Po!
Yes, Band Maid is just that good. Have to give a thumbs up just for you thinking it was a studio version. 😂 This was their first video release (the actual studio version). Just wait till you see how far they've come.
This is a LIVE version of their very first Music Video. So it's a little tame for them. You can compare it to the OMV. Aside from a few changes, it's basically the same. The label didn't even let them write their own material back then. They've come a long way in the last 10 years and have about 150 other songs you can check out. all different.
Nice reaction, but as others have said, you ain't seen nothin' yet😊 PS You can ignore Starocean's comment, they're a known troll.
I've seen BAND-MAID twice live and, in my opinion, they seem a little flat here because they're basically playing to an empty studio with a skeleton TV crew because of the lockdowns. So you're not really getting the full experience of when BAND-MAID does a "serving" in front of a live audience. I can assure you that BAND-MAID is a group that definitely feeds off its audience. I've personally seen how the audience reaction gives them a kind of energy where you can see the enjoyment in what they're doing which infects the crowd which gets people more excited in a positive feedback loop. It's really quite something to behold when you see it in action.
"Thrill" is the first big hit for the band (it saved their careers) from more than a decade ago. Your next reaction to Band-Maid needs to be "Hate?", the official live video from their 10th Anniversary Tour finale in November 2023. It will give you an idea of how far this band has progressed in that time (completely intact as a group). The band has also released an amazing LP album since that concert. The album is titled "Epic Narratives" and there are a few official music videos released along with the album. I still feel "Hate?" is a great start to understand how the band has progressed over time. It is also the first song Band-Maid newbies listen to first. They are not defined by any one rock genre. We Maidiacs (that's what Band-maid fans call ourselves) come from all social classes and ages. I'm 75 years old and have seen and heard A LOT of hard rock music in my life. Band-Maid is the first rock and roll band whose music I have fallen in love with in decades. Their cute maid outfits from "Thrill" have changed over the years (except for Miku, the band founder) to accommodate the members' own sartorial sensibilities. Miku's idea for forming the band was what she calls "the gap" with the idea of the audience seeing the outfits but get face melting rock music from the band. The band has succeeded so well at that, their individual garb makes no difference in the musical talent the band displays in their concerts. Keep up your journey with Band-Maid and I guarantee you will gain many more subscribers and many more friends. We Maidiac are loyal to the core.
Pandemic era concert, so it was from a live stream. They absolutely can play everything in their catalog amazing live, you can YT people recording with their phones and get the gist of the quality of their live performances. I saw them in concert during their 2022 US tour and it was an amazing live performance. While the MV is only a few years old, the song itself is one of their oldest songs about 10 years old, I suggest watching something newer.
THE best Hard Rock band on Earth. This was live - but no audience due to plague restrictions - and was streamed worldwide. Miku, the rhythm guitarist and founder of the band, deliberately chose the cute maid look to be cognitively dissonant against the Hard Rock sound. This is an old song of theirs but they have never stopped improving and I'd recommend seeing HATE? live at Yokohama in 2023 (on their YT channel) to experience the ridiculous levels of musicianship they have reached.
Welcome to the world of BAND-MAID. That was a fun reaction, thank you. Were you surprised by so many comments? BAND-MAID fans love making new friends. My recommendations are "ON SET" (live) and "FROM NOW ON" (MV). Both are their instrumental songs.
No! That was live. Except for a few songs, the live is always mind blowingly better than studio, as you will soon see. Moratorium, Domination, No God, Real Existence, Black Hole, Freedom- Official Live videos. Choose Me, Warning, Blooming- Official Music Videos.
Allow me to suggest the official live version of “Hate?” at Yokohama Arena and the official MV of “Don’t Let Me Down.”
I'll add it to the list!
Plenty to see an hear here….stick with BM and you won’t be disappointed
Glad you enjoyed it. Band-Maid are very special and have many many great songs and they totally rock. Some songs are fairly simple and some are extremely complex but still catchy. This is one of their earlier songs. I would suggest listening to their latest MV for the song 'Forbidden Tale', to see what they are capable of now. This is a band that continues to surprise and they will always put a smile on your face.
Oh yes, the descending line. I was immediately reminded of Boston's “More than a Feeling” when I heard this little figure. If I go back even further in time, I end up with “Badge” by Cream, and it always sounds very nice and is relatively easy to play.
You can't go wrong with Band-Maid, pick any song :) Also for your consideration: Nemophila - "G.O.D."; NEK! (neki) - "Maze"; Lovebites - "Rising" official live; Hanabie. - "Pardon Me, I Have To Go Now"; East of Eden - "Evolve"; Rolling Quartz - "Azalea", TOUCHED - "Addiction"
Studio version? Haha, you have no idea what you're talking about 😂 Band-Maid always exceeds expectations, it's like their trademark. And, speaking of stereotypes, those are their stage costumes, like many bands have. No regular japanese woman dresses like that on a normal day, unless she's working in a Maid café 😉
Thrill was their first hit.... highly recommend watching some early videos as they were basically a punk style band at the beginning with songs like Non-fiction days. While their newer songs tend to be more Prog Rock. In the beginning Miku the rythm guitarist was just learning to play guitar so she did simple chords, and over time the lead guitarist taught her more advanced jazz type chords.
別の曲もお願いします…🎉😊

Brother you ain't seen nothing yet. BANDMAID is the greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century IMHO. It's a crazy statement. Was Mozart the world's greatest composer of his era? He'll yeah! The farther we get away from that time the more clearly we see the immensity of his talent. Few would argue with the above assessment. Everytime I write "IMHO" after BandMaid is the greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century I feel like a liar. IMHO my ass! IMHO water is wet. BandMaid rules right now. 66 years old here. The future will prove us right.
I wish the United States had bands with this level of excellence... Instead of we have "performers" like Taylor Swift.
First off: Yes, it's "LIVE", but not as live as they would have liked. The concert was *supposed* to be a triumphal debut at Bukokan, but the lock-down closed the venue. Having the set completely rehearsed, they rented an empty auditorium that was regularly used for live television and they streamed the concert to their fan club members. So they are performing "live" in an empty auditorium to a skeleton TV crew: it may sound like the studio version, but it isn't, they just don't have an audience on set. This version a hair crunchier than the original studio version which is in the "Thrill" MV. I have the Blu-ray of this concert and there are moments where the typical Band-Maid energy you normally experience at their concerts is missing. Band-Maid composes, arranges, and produces their songs to be performed live. They will often use studio backing tracks along with a click track during live concerts. This is why their concerts sometimes sound so studio perfect. I've seen them live twice: once at an outdoor festival and at a small club and I can tell you that they are playing live. They will also rearrange extended versions of their songs when they feel their songs need more oomph to get the audience moving. Here are few live videos: "Puzzle" at Tokyo Garden Theater, "Don't You Tell ME", and "HATE?" both live from Yokohama Arena. This will show you what a great live act Band-Maid can be. Also "Domination" and "Freedom" live will give you a taste of the energy they create at a live concert. BTW, Band-Maid appreciates reaction videographers, they recognize that the internet is the conduit that feeds them and keeps Band-Maid alive. They know that word of mouth of their viral "Thrill" video saved them from losing their management contract back in 2014, so they do not bite the hands that feed them. As a result, they usually don't copyright block Band-Maid reaction videos. In fact, during live shows they have pointed out reactors they recognize in the audience and cheerfully greet them, They love their fans!
Thank you for all of those recommendations! I probably cannot monetize reactions to those videos still (as there is someone else who owns the copyright) but I'm still figuring out what can be considered Fair Use.
Juxtaposition is a word all the J-Metal bands are very familiar with. Band-Maid are superb whatever they look like though, Maids corralled by a pigeon, or just modern young women - they are exceptional either way. TRiDENT are up this alley with Band-Maid - much talent there. Try “Cry Out” for starters.
The Maids watch and enjoy reactions. They will not block reactions to songs from their official YT channel, so have at it. :)
That's good to know! I'll take a look :D
I was about to write you "great reaction"... until you said that this was not the live sound This song is part of one of their many live gigs online, that the band started to broadcast during the pandemic, all these online gigs are characterized by having a very raw and basic production, without any kind of post-production.... This is the most live sound you can get from Band Maid or any other band.😕 By the way, this song is just a walk in the park for the Maids, they are usually much more aggressive.😉
@@COTTERO I’ve been corrected by a few people…a great live sound, for sure! It fooled me lol.
100% live, other than the sound effects at the beginning and end of the song. Watch the official mv (the oldest video on their channel) for the studio version. Then understand that as good as this song is, literally every other song on their channel (and most other songs in their discography) is better. Still a great song and a great live performance, just one they could do in their sleep.
Welcome to the fandom! ♥ these girls! I suggest these Band Maid songs: Dice, Manners, Bubble, Blooming, No God (live) & Puzzle (live)
That was 100% live from an online concert during Covid. The original music video is from 9 years ago. This was one of their earliest songs and they have evolved a lot since this song.
You gonna be surprized at the next song and all the following too!
Definitely live. this is a very early song of theirs that they didn't even write and they could play it in their sleep. It gets way better from here so I would just keep going and chronological order if you want to and check out the official live of real existence. And keep in mind that you'll have to have 20 or so under your belt to get a handle on them because they're so diverse they cannot be classified. Honestly they're unreal.
Thumbs up, nice reaction. Welcome to Band-Maid! Next couple of Band-Maid songs maybe check out Domination live and Onset also the live version: th-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/mVrN-j_Uc0U/w-d-xo.html
And the lead guitarist is the Primary Composer of the band as well. :)
Great reaction and this was their first real world-wide viral hit back in 2015 when they were just getting started (they formed in 2013). This performance was an on-line concert during the virus lock down with no audience. The audio is live and almost all of their official live videos use live audio. This is a live band at it's best. This song was provided to them from their label and their first song they were allowed to use was in 2016 called "Alone" and since then they have written and arranged all their songs, over 130+ now. Their new songs are much better then "Thrill" and you'll get lots of recommendations, any one will work, but usually live is better. New sub, interested to see how you find your journey exploring Band-Maid.
This was definitely a live version from one of their online concerts during Covid - check out their MV for this song at some point and then learn from the Maidiacs how the Thrill video saved the band from being broken up and launched the trajectory of one of the greatest rock bands to emerge in tne past 20 years... They have a vast and varied discography but like others I'd recommend HATE? live, Real Existance live, or the MV's for Dice or Manners as your next stops.... also, if you like MtH, check out Hanabie - 4 young ladies who began as a MtH cover band in middle school - their MV for "We love Sweets" can't be described- it has to be experienced....
Yes, this was live on-line by BAND-MAID. Please check out more sooner than later. Live performances are top-notch and so many to choose from. I recommend DICE/HATE live from Lollapalooza 2023. It's raw and it shows the gals performing upper tier while contending with a Chicago summer afternoon under a hot sun. Great talent these five musicians. th-cam.com/video/a6gvg9Xg4Ao/w-d-xo.html
The camera choices are jacked up but that doesn't reflect on the Maids but on Hulu.
Uummm I know you just didn't call them band aid right cause if you did an apology is in order plus the mv would have been better for the first time so 2 strikes so far
