One would have to ask where is the money going that is given to Māori led groups by government. Whai Kianga Oranga …$730 million Mahi Partnership’s $36 million He Ara Hiki Mauri $ 24 million. Hmmm I think we need to get out the comb and see all is being spent well here. This is just the tip of govt funding to Māori led solutions. I’m all for it, but I hope( and we should audit) that it is going to those who need and not those who want.

We haven't looked ahead as a nation to develop single affordable accomodation. We have failed. Councils Government iwi should be providing interim facilities for our homeless people, just the basics, a facility until proper housing can be provided. Another issue is the building sector. Look that up on Google. I thought it was a bit rich, pardon the pun when you said they are making the cuts from there 13 billion dollar deficit to feed the rich, you wouldn't be talking about Jacinda Adern who's net worth is over 5 million dollars or the Te Whãnau O Waipareira Trust Group who made a 16 million dollar profit 2022 - 2023 , to name a few by any chance?. Our government pays for transgender sugeries, 50 to 90 thousand dollars each. So we have a New Zealander who want's a sex change, but they can't afford it, the tax payer pays for it, while we have homeless and starving people on the streets, and Wellington City Council spent half a million dollars on a bike rack, rainbow crossings 20 thousand dollars each, that's how stupid and pathetic we are.

Too many immigrants who arrive and are driving rent prices beyond sustainable levels have been to many viewings for a rental property and the immigrants will offer a minimum of $100 more than the advertised weekly price which will prompt another whanau to offer more it's not a coincidence that the people using these tactics are of the same nationality as the real estate agent rent control needs to be enforced asap

it is this Govt job to help and serve its NZ citizens as well as such people like this who are in most need even the certain entities that are doing better then the Govt in supplying free food for them and helping their cost of living bearable is True Service and a HUMANITARIAN One at best and if the Govt cant help in giving service to relieve or eliminate this CRISIS for its Citizens and People then they need to step down resign and let some other party that can.

Absolutely hit the nail on the head! "The cost of living!" Soon the middle class won't exist. It's plane as day that the privileged are driving up the price of living to ensure the gap between the affluent and the rest increases. Very sad times ahead my friend

Build your own table and invite who you want there and get iwi to fund it all. Dave always seems to blame the government like many others even though the government is trying to do the best they can why can't iwi chip in and fund the shortage of money to feed these people in need seeing how alot of them are Māori..Another thing that should be addressed is this encouragement for Māori to produce more tamariki so they can have a larger population, that's all well and good if you can afford to feed and house these tamariki and not pass the buck onto the government and taxpayers..So many families in emergency housing have high numbers of tamariki - should of been better planning before creating lives without stability

@chronicz120, if like you say is true, "the government is doing their best", why would they continue to flood a country with immigrants to the tune of 100,000/year. And 1000's of N.Zers are leaving weekly! Something is definitely wrong with that equation. How can the government, not be to blame when their inviting 1000's immigrants in when the support isn't even there for their own citizens. Then you say make Iwi pay for housing and support of all Māori in this dyer situation. 😂 Iwi were stripped of their power and means to create generational wealth when the crown stole their land after the signing of Te Tiriti. As a result Iwi provided a privileged minority who only continue to take and not give a damn about anyone brown or white below them. I must say you've got a 1eyed view that lacks scope of the situation!!

Well............there has been zero push for Independence, so I am unimpressed with Kingiitanga 'movement'. It's a movement. If the young Queen of Tainui pushes for Independence of the United Tribes of Nu Tireni, then I'll be impressed. A TWO state nation is inevitable so the korero needs to happen. Or shall we just keep talkin 'tino rangatiratanga' talk about it but never stand in it, and not truly believe it because Independence is still ............waiting. So frustrating.

Unfortunately there would of been more whanau care abuse than state care cases, Incest was rampant in Polynesian families back in the day especially in Maori whanau's. Father's, Uncles, Aunty's and others were molesting other whanau member's and it was swept under the carpet and encouraged not to be talked about. The amount of story's told to me from victims of this abuse is unbelievable, some even resulting in pregnancy's. The victims of the abuse that I know of are in their 40s right up into their 70s and all say it was whanau member's not outsiders.
