How to add ssb delay
My first attempt at adding ssb delay, it might be a double pole single throw switch, in the video I messed up a couple times and especially towards the end and said resistor when I meant led , but hopefully you understand what I meant, remember Iam not a professional and just trying to help, as always thanks to gatekeeper, bbi , 28Chicago video gates, radio active amps and all the other builders out there for posting their help videos!

How a con artist begans. Omg where do these guys come from
Another diyer con artist pop up.
Look at them solder globs......jeeeeesus
Con artist station.
Nicely done and explained. i did this on an amp many years ago. exactly the way i did it and worked great no issues
Thank you very much
First of all, I wanna thank you for your videos. I truly learned a lot from you. I actually built the same box. Your four pill seems to work fine however I can’t seem to find that blue output, tuning capacitor. I don’t know if there was a mistake on the numbers or whatbut maybe you can correct that for me if you don’t mind I appreciate it and I thank you so much again
There not easy to find, when I built this four pill I did it exactly like Carl builts 400hd and he had a blue capacitor on the output and it had 151j 6kv on it so it found some of them on eBay and ordered them, and they worked, here is a link to what ica has for tuning capacitors there’s is a 150 3kv but Iam pretty shure it will work the same, Iam just learning the tuning of these amps, so I don’t really have a solid answer for you, but i pretty shure it should be around a 150 pf capacitor on the output, sorry I can’t help out more www.icamanufacturing.com/shop/p/tuning-capacitor-3kv-150pf-120pf thank you for the nice comment
This is not exactly but the 150 pf ones in this kit should work just fine www.amazon.com/10000pF-Voltage-Ceramic-Capacitor-Assortment/dp/B073TW1XG1/ref=asc_df_B073TW1XG1/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693270340071&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1697612190553412532&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1027270&hvtargid=pla-1649669417969&psc=1&mcid=98f4cb50f8f1387189ce70450d9ec29d
I have built a lot of SSB Delay amps with no Bias and have had not a one come back. Good job keep up the good work...."Professor Tech-Nine"
Thank you very much tech nine, I really appreciate it, yeah it’s definitely a big debate over that subject, I’ve heard that if it doesn’t have baising it’s not really ready for ssb , will cause harmonics and splattering, Iam just starting to learn so I really have now idea , I did run across a video rooster radio did where he tested a amp with delay only and one with baising, and the results were pretty close, here’s the link, once again Iam humbled that professionals builders like you check out my videos , thank you and take care 73s th-cam.com/video/vY5Cusvvr0c/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygULU3NiIGJpYXNpbmc%3D
Very good man 👍. I know nothing about building but I’ve been taking an interest in learning You answered my question at the end . But you can further educate us folks like me when you learn , what’s the reason or difference in making it a true class AB , and using those “sand bars” and figuring out that term that is often used “setting the biasing voltage” ,, etc ,, keep up the good work , 73’s 👋🏻
Thank very much for checking in out , I haven’t even started researching baising yet, sounds like you know more than me about it, some people say that without the correct baising a class c amp is not ready for ssb use it will have harmonics, splatter etc, and it very well may be the case, I don’t really know, but I did run across a video that rooster radio did , where he tested a amp with ssb delay only and one with baising, here’s the link, thanks for checking it out and the nice comments, take care th-cam.com/video/vY5Cusvvr0c/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygULU3NiIGJpYXNpbmc%3D
A lot smaller wire than 16g will work fine. Also the double throw switch isn't necessary - a simple double pole single throw switch would suffice in the configuration you used.
Input tune get variable trimmers for front and back tune use your watt meter and reflect adjust trimmers and that will give you your value. remove input trimmer read the value with a ohm meter and drop in your cap. the same for the output trimmer/ adjustable or use a brass slide tuner for the output. And now your set.
Thank you very much for that , Iam just starting to learn the tuning, and that helps, thanks
You can't get 500 watts out of a 2 pill class c amp. I have built many 2 pill amps and the power transistor's specs show it plain and clear the output of the pill you are using. 2 pills will NOT output 500w. Even in my bench testing up to 22v and high input drive and swing no go. when you are in the game of making amps class c they show you what you can only see and it is NOT 500w. It just will not happen unless you have high SWR or using a meter that is not calibrated to show you what you want to see. A bit of hokus pokus if you know what I mean. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! I have been building 22yrs again you are correct not going to do 500w. But if you listin to the preacher long enough you will start to believe they will. Punisher amps.
Thanks I appreciate it
After completed what was your output and how many watts drive? RMS/ Peak? Nice lay out sure it will help many. what was the HFE OF YOUR PILLS?
I don’t remember what the hfe was but I did two videos on testing it here th-cam.com/video/FMLdRURvMN4/w-d-xo.html it was peak , Iam just recently trying to learn the tuning process to get more out of the amps
The first video I sent you was with a galaxy 959 and this video is with a connex 3400 a little more drive th-cam.com/video/Z8WFoUgix9M/w-d-xo.html
I am just watching this video. Thank you for this list. As I am a newbie at building the amplifier. I will be building my first one soon. I have been watching a lot of videos. Now I am ready. I just know making my first key up switch. Gatekeeper has a great video on that. And have learned from him most. And he has fixed a Texas Star Modulator Plus V for me a few years ago. Now finally I find this which helps us not only know what to get for the build, We will know how to pronounce the parts when searching them on the ICA website. Thank you so much for this video. I have been wanting to build one that I can use on 10 meters.
You are very welcome, I know the frustration of just starting and trying to figure it all out , and that’s why I did this in hopes it would help people just starting, take care
I have to say, that is a nice build for sure!
Thank you very much for the nice comment I really appreciate it.
Are you still at it? Build any 1446 or 2290 yet?
I built one two pill with 2290s but that’s it, hopefully I’ll get back at it soon, thank you for looking
I like the video are you going to show more like it Thanks for the info
I should have some more builds coming in the future, but for more info on how to build the amps look up gatekeeper amps here on TH-cam, he has a lot of videos on how rf flows through the amps, relays keying circuits inductors capacitors, thank for checking my video out, take care.
How do and where can I get all the parts to be able to build my own can you please help me
Hello , start by watching my 2-pill amplifier parts list video, if you haven’t already seen it, it shows you all the parts for a 2-pill build, and most all the parts come from ica manufacturing, here is a link to there website www.icamanufacturing.com/

good job keep up the good work
Thank you very much
Nice lookin box . Love a clean lookin build.
Thank you very much, I really appreciate it.
Thanks for some great info, I would love to build my own just to say i built that! I have some knowledge in electronics, probably just enough to be dangerous but i do have all the tools, i do minor repairs on coin changers for vending machines and the coin handling part of the control boards for snack machines, this looks like it would be fun!
Thanks for checking in out , it’s was fun learning and trying to figure it out, you can do it, thanks again.
I've learned alot from the videos,I got tired of the tube amps,and I started watching videos,that's a good job, good and clean.my first was a 6 pill,I've made 3 of those,2 ,2 pills,1 ,16 pill,and I'm collecting my parts for a 24 pill,it's all just for personal use,if I can get ssb biasing down I'll have something.3 yrs ago I'd never thought I could do this,but BBI, gatekeeper, clown built,all those guys are a inspiration,and I'll keep watching your builds,thank you 106.
I just saw your comment, sorry for the late response, thank you very much, yeah the first time I looked inside a amp I also thought there’s no way I could do it , but like you said gatekeeper bbi and the clown guys were so much help with there videos, thanks for checking out my page, take care.
keep up the good work
Thank you very much
Beautiful job sir. I love your shop. Wow! I noticed the input transformers soldered to the board. I’ve never seen that before. Not gonna lie,I kinda like it 73’s from 28chicago. God bless.
Thank you very much for the nice comments, sorry for the late response been busy family stuff, I really appreciate the nice comments, take care and 73s
Oh wow I just looked at your profile and realized who you are, the nice comments mean a lot coming from you , your first two pill clown built and your other videos are among a few that were my first videos I learned from, your kind words mean a lot coming from a experienced builder like yourself, thank you very much 28 Chicago, take care my friend and 73s
My pleasure. Your a great addition to the CB TH-cam world. Keep up the great job. 73’s
great to see your 4 pill build .i want to build an amp the same specs .what would the max drive input be ?
Max input carrier of 8w or 180w max carrier out of amp. Max peak input 100w. thanks for checking it out.
4 pill
YEA LOOKS NOCE, I am sure the F.C.C. will like it when they come to look at what you are doing.
Well thank you Mr mad and jealous ham radio operator
Nice looking build! Thanks for sharing the video.
Thank you, very much.
Looks Nice to me Good Job!
Oh wow thank you so much, that means a lot to me coming from a professional builder like you, thank you for taking the time to look at it!
Just calling it like I see it. Nice Work@@frppower1
❤❤🎉
chicken bander, thumbs down, loosers!
You should never leave a charred resistors in the amp, change them out and put a new ones in. So the next time you have a problem in a section you will know where to start to trouble shoot.
Okay thank you.
Blue Capacitors. Not Good....
Those are 151 pf tuning capacitors, exactly what Carl built uses in his 200 hd amps so yeah!!
Nice and neat build just what I like to see, good job. You can also put a 103 or 104pf cap from the hot to ground to trap the RF from the fan. If you want to put a diode on the hot buss to ground, and a snubbing diode on the relay between the positive and negative. Also try using a 33pf cap on the bypass of the relay to ground to lower the pass thru SWR. everything else looks good. Keep up the good work! from your friend The Professor "Tech-Nine" of Tech-Nine Technologies.
Oh wow thank you so much, that means a lot coming from you, thank you for the nice comments and thank you so much for the tips on things to do, I will definitely do them, I know you’re a very respected builder and iam humbled that you took the time to look at my build, wow, thank you for that and the tips so much, take care and thanks again!
@@frppower1 You are very welcome! anytime I can help when I have time just let me know and I will get back to you. P.S. I use a 180pf on the input of my DD-400-HG 4-Pills but I will try your 220pf to see if there is a change. If it is then I will use it from know on thanks to you. See you it's bed time for me good night!
I found a 180pf little low, 220 pf little high. 200 pf seems to be it for me@@TechNineKOQ1152
very clean build
Thank you.
Looks great . You have an awesome DX desk setup I saw when you scanned over there to show your Carl Built . Super !! Keep up the good work . Ive always wanted to learn but I keep making excuses . I think for real this time next year I should be finished with a major radio project and actually be able to get a few things and start . Until then , I’ll keep following along and enjoy your content . 73’s
Thank you very much,
Not sure if those bias chokes are doing anything when you have the input transformers soldered straight to ground
The input transformer is not soldered to ground, it’s a small block of the phenolic board that is soldered to the rf transformer to space it up , the transformer is not making contact with the board, the copper side of the board is facing up towards the transformer.
Thank you for your time and humble nature in presenting your craft.
Wow thank you for the nice comment.
Great job!!!
Thank you
Do u have a contact number, needing some amps repaired.
Sorry I don’t do it professionally, just , just tinkering around and learning

Thank you very much
What about your 1.6 ohm resisters

Wow! Nice setup!
thank you.
Absolute top-notch and what a clean build Plus I love your setup totally OCD just like me anyway 73'S from Canada😎💯🇨🇦

Good work man. Question: very curious about the yellow strip nut/bolt thread checker hanging on your wall. I use those when in the big box stores..didn't know they sold those?
My father got it from ace hardware, he told me that he asked one of the sales guys that he always talked to when he went in the store, could I get one and dad said he ordered him one , that’s my dad’s storie anyway, not 100 percent shure if that’s how he really got it
