Instructors Dan Semrad and Dan Flood went out for some fun dives the day after class. Here's the footage. Sorry for the hard F in the song... I just found this cover and it took me back to middle school lol.
Paralenz Vaquita Unboxing HD 1080p
มุมมอง 2083 ปีที่แล้ว
Just got one of the new Paralenz Vaquita cameras to upgrade from the original Paralenz. I've been really happy with ease of use and durability of the original so I am excited to try this new camera. This video shows what is in the box on the three components I got for personal use. In opening the box I learned that the camera is named for the smallest and rarest porpoise in the world, which is ...

Such an epic day on the water! Huge thanks to our good buddy Jeff Garwood! Started out dropping pots for crabs, then trolling with an insane Coho bite. Finished with dives and found crazy cold water, but great visibility and amazing marine life! Song: Heat Waves Artist: Glass Animals

Great day out to kick off 2021 with some solid dive buddies! Huge shout out to the crew! Kurt Grote, Jeff Garwood, and Dan Flood made this day awesome. My dives were feeling subpar, but with solid safeties and no pressure I was able to just enjoy a mellow day with good dudes and great conditions! First time really putting the Orion from Omer to work and have some thoughts I will post in a revie...
C4 Minimal Review
มุมมอง 4.2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This video is a followup after a day in the water with the fins. You guys asked about performance and durability. I used them while teaching one of my freediver (20m) level courses and was pleased with their performance. Softer than I personally like for instructing in cold water, but they did great and I was happy after a day of kicking them. On the durability side, they again did well. Our en...

Headhunter Nomad Polespear
มุมมอง 9974 ปีที่แล้ว
Quick preview of the Nomad polespear and the Nomad Roller Polespear from Headhunter. I've been using the Nomad for a couple years and it is by far my favorite polespear. I run it as a 6' in our cold green water and a 9' in warm blue water. Tons of power, great mass and diameter, super solid slip tip; all reasons I love this beast of a polespear. Excited to get the roller out ASAP. If you have q...

Freediving Lanyards

Things to consider when purchasing a lanyard. Mostly just information on lanyards since we had a few guys asking questions. Many appropriate options. I like the one shown, but find the gear that works best for you.
Canary in a Coal Mine
มุมมอง 5894 ปีที่แล้ว
Compilation of some good days on the Oregon Coast this summer. Some of the highlights include an 18lb cabezon taken on the Headhunter Nomad Polespear, my first ever Canary Rockfish also on polespear and some lingcod and rockfish. There's one clip in here of big Cabs playing defense for a little ling. The little ling is all I wanted for the table that evening so it was fun trying to get a shot. ...

Oregon Octopus, Wolf Eel, and a giant lingcod
hey just watched your video I was wondering if you have a online shop so i'll be able to order.... am looking for online souses to get my spearfishing equipment preferably Salvimar produces. can you help please?
I did not see anything 😂
I would love to know some good spots along the Oregon coast for scallop diving, if you don't mind sharing!
Unfortunately they say the internet is where good spots go to die... Stop by the shop sometime and chat with our staff.
Bad ass
Good. Real good
Hi, do you find this speargun noticeably lighter and more maneuverable than the Salvimar Hero of the same length?
Definitely
Is there an easier way to put on the 300s. Can they be made to fit better with heat gun or hot water hack?
Can you make a review about the c4 carbon suit ?
How much weights do you have on your dive belt
are these blades compatible with the SEAC motus foot pockets?
Very nice video, is that the Omer Orion 90? And what do you think about the handling of the speargun?
That is the one! I like the gun a lot. I had to play around with the ballast because I went to a shorter shaft making it lighter in the water, but less overhang. Definitely more drag in the water than a pipe gun, but it is a solid gun for sure.
Golf
Salt water, with breakaway, no reel. How much weight should I use?
Hi ! Thanks for the video. I'm thinking of buying one (the 110cm). Have you ever tried ?
I haven't shot the 110, just the 90 and the 140
@@oregonfreedivingcompany7382 Any opinion on the serie ? Compared to a Riffe ?
No Salvimar Nightmare in stock?
Nope! Had to look it up. Is the Nightmare significantly different from the Hero or is it basically the Hero in different colors? I may have to check it out.
@@oregonfreedivingcompany7382 it's a Hero with primeline
They are the same only diference is the rubbers are more high quality then the hero i think they are primeline 16mm and maybe shooting line different @@oregonfreedivingcompany7382
The structure of HERO NIGHTMARE is completely identical to that of HERO. But NIGHTMARE uses the latest dark coating, and the rubber bands have been upgraded from S400/S600 to PRIME. PRIME rubber bands provide higher strength, but they are also more difficult to pull. In addition, the ARES series has also launched the latest ARES NIGHTMARE.@@oregonfreedivingcompany7382
Cool! Do you own or sell wooden spearguns?
Absolutely! I have many in my personal quiver and typically keep at least a couple in stock at the shop.
Hey do you ever do guide trips for albicore tuna.
hello , for spearfishing , with long distance swiming, are they better than plastic blade?
Hi! How's this compare overall lengthwise to a Rob Allen 70? Basically is this shorter when loaded due to the reverse mech or is it the same? Is it like a 70 with the band pull of an 80? Looking for a dirty water gun to replace my 70. I see they also make this in a 60 as well... Thanks!
Hey David! I have all the above mentioned guns so will pull a tape on them when I’m back in the shop Tuesday. Can also send pics of side by side as needed 🤙🏼
@@oregonfreedivingcompany7382 That would be great. I'm in Vancouver, WA and dive the Oregon coast a bunch. Thankfully I learned in the east coast murk and the fish here aren't very smart. The 70 has worked pretty good. I would like a little shorter, as sometimes even that is a bit long and I don't feel like cutting down my 120 in case I might take a trip one day. Thanks again for your help! I really appreciate it.
For future reference, for anyone interested, as this reply string seemed to die and there's not much out there on these... I ended up buying a Meandros 60. I'm kinda bummed as it is pretty much the same size as my RA 70, just with less band pull. About 2 inches shorter at most as opposed to 4, which I was expecting (10cm ~4"). The handle is long, so that seems to account for the extra length. At least it was cheap (have to know where to look)... I have to say, it does look nice though. At this point, I'll probably fix up my 70, get a shorter shaft and cut the meandros 60 barrel down and just make it a 50.
Hey Jered, glad to hear you have a buddy and are being cautious. I will tell you that I learned sooooooooooooo many things I didn't know, hazards, safety, gear, technique, equalization (really everything) when I took my first course. Prior to that I was a scuba instructor (trainer) and thought I knew everything about being in the water and diving. I'll just leave it at that and say I understand.
Cool beans. Ill find an instructor at some point. I think there is a class in seal rock somewhere. But for now im just puttering around on the shallower side of the jetty. I will deffinatly be cautios and aware.
Hey Jered Melendez! Sorry, not sure why, but it is not letting me reply to your comment so posting as a separate comment. For freediving you need a rubber weight belt and I strongly prefer the marseilles buckle style. That being said, I would encourage you to take a freediving course if you are interested in freediving and spearfishing. Overweighting your self is a really common bad habit and a dangerous one. I wear 11lb of lead with a 7.5mm suit and have never had a student actually need 30lb. Dive safe!
Thenks for the comment. And i will test it incrementally. And find my safe wheight. But im a big 320lb 6ft predetor. Going for spearfishing. Havent done a freediving class but i am a certified diver. And im well aware of the many dangers of being new to it. Have a buddy and im carefull on the times and conditions of our dives. Lol just failing at belts. Im starting out in about 10 - 20 foot deep off the jetty in newport. Thanks for the advise i will invest in one. Cheers and happy hunting.
Hey guys so. I have a question. Whats a good wheight belt type to use if i need like 30 lbs. Of lead and have no butt. Cause the supposedly non strech nylon i got failed miserably. Loosens and just falls away. So i can only float in my thick 7mm suit snorkling.
How about size spocket? Theres normal size or deferent size with another brand?
The material they use is very light, but not very flexible so I do go a little larger on the pocket personally
Will this be too stiff for me? 168cm tall, 72 kills. AIDA 3 freediver Or should I opt for C4 Fast t700 soft blades?
I find a lot of personal preference in stiffness based on the type of diving your doing so... Blanket recommendation based on line diving and the information you've given I'd say softer may be the way to go. That being said, I've never seen you dive, don't know what fins you are kicking now or what performance you want out of your fin. Personally I have blades from very stiff to very soft and I like them each for different applications (instructing, spearfishing, depth targets, pool etc)
@@oregonfreedivingcompany7382 im currently using leaderfins fiberglass with soft stiffness. I dont know if which one is stiffer. Carbon or fiberglass
can you remove logo of c4? is it painted or sticker?
Doesn't seem to be easily removable
❤️❤️❤️
How long can you hold your breath under water staying still?
I haven't done a target static in ages, but assuming it's the same I'm somewhere between 6:00 and 7:00
Is this out on the coast? Which part?
Oregon Coast, Central/North-ish
nice!!! fat cab!! awesome mix bag.
Thanks Jes! Great day out there!
How would you recommend someone get into this sport out in NorCal?
Historically I would say go talk to subsurface progression, but the sadly closed up. I always recommend a freediving course first and getting plugged in with your local community. Steve Monk is a freediving instructor in Humboldt. If you shoot me an email I can get you guys connected. Always dive with a buddy! I’ve run courses in NorCal before and would be happy to come down if you’ve got a group. Or if you can make it up here.
Do you think its worth the price between a GoPro?
I have used both and prefer the Paralenz for some of the reasons I mentioned. Ease of use, less drag, auto record only on my drops. Depth and temp is great when we’re running training. I usually am trying to film while I’m doing other things like spearfishing or instructing so for my personal use so I don’t like fiddling with other gear while I’m focusing on something else. We got a Hero 9 before Vertical Blue so I hope to have the old Paralenz, the new Paralenz and the Hero 9 out on the same day and do a comparison review sometime in the near future.
There is something wrong with audio. I can't hear your voice. Perhaps you're too far from microphone.
Strange! It’s playing on my side. I’ll look into it.
its fine for me
👍🏻..
What guns were you using?
Omer invictus 75. See above reply for more 🤙🏼
What speargun are you using for manuerving in and out of those holes. Looks like that gun is working good for you
In this video I was using the Omer Invictus HF 75cm. I do love that gun. I also often run the Meandros B28 in a 75cm or a 60cm, or the headhunter Nomad polespear as a 6’er.
How do you guys like that fish pro as a dive platform? I'm looking at getting one for H&L and paddy hopping in SoCal when I get back. Thanks, love the videos! 🤙🏻
We've got a couple buddies with em and love em!
Incredible surprise! Super cool footage!
Thank you!
What is your light? It looks super good
This is one from Darkwaters. I don’t think he’s making em anymore.
That skate is absolutely gorgeous
I never think of skates off the Oregon coast are they common?
I thought so too!
First one I’ve seen here
looks like great viz!!
We put it somewhere between 25'-30'. Pretty amazing.
Great Video crew, well done, loved the tunes, the fish and the editing were excellent! Cheers for sharing the fun! Dive Safe!

Epic video! 🤙🏻
Does the ODFW gives you a ticket if you dive and doesn't have a scuba or diving certificate?
Nope, but dive training (scuba or freediving) trains you to dive safely and efficiently.
Hey! I'm just starting to freedive and spearfish I live in Oregon where do you recommend I go?
Hey man! Give us a call at the shop and we can talk about good starting points
hello, why don't you use volare fins for spearfishing? Are there too long?
For our hunting here (shallow, hole hunting, current, swell) I like a shorter stiffer blade
@@oregonfreedivingcompany7382 Thanks for your response.
Do you guys have any divers in newport?
Yeah man, there are a few divers out there. If you’re on Facebook we have a group for certified divers and there’s an open community group as well. I’d say give us a call, but we’re in FL for a comp... back Tuesday
Cool beans. Ill check it out. Thanks man.
Man o man i cant wait to try. I get my first wetsuit next week. Gonna try for myself. You should make more vids.
Thanks man! We will! Good luck, dive safe, always with a buddy, always one up one down!
Working on that part. A guy from the salal center said he would dive with me. Will go soon i think. Maybe get some crabs lol
Well done on the video team, great effort, liked the footage and editing! Cheers for sharing the fun, Hello from Aussie, Dive Safe! Have a great Easter!
