The Secret Boost Pedal You NEED - Laney Black Country Customs Tony Iommi TI Boost
no graphic EQ
Sounds really good and fuzzy.
That'll be why I always struggle with holy wars on the chord stabs. Need to try this
Marshall way warmer!
I want one. It really does give it that "extra" beautiful nastiness 😊
They supposedly saved money on the speakers and the lack of tubes compared to the other 5150 amps. All in all they are killer amps for a great price !!!!
I had an SD1 and i didn't like it through my JCM 900 at least for what I play, I like my Berhinger Vintage Tube Overdrive TO808. Recently i saw some videos of the Walrus Essential Drive and that's next on my list
Awesome 👏
Most of the shred is just wankity wank bullshit that offers nothing to the song writing. It’s cool nerd factor. But most of us learned to do that shit as a high school dungeon master. Dime a dozen. Most iconic solos are memorable because they were more melodic than mathematical.
Dude this is the most brutal sounding video of the Fireball 25 I've heard so far. 🤘🏼
@@JosephCee thanks!
Getting mine in 3 days..finally ! Damn it sounds great here and excellent playing as always.
@@rosskrause3926 thanks! You'll love the amp. It's killer!
@@shredaintdead9323 Have you tried any analog reverb pedals in the effects loop yet ? Sometimes I use just the slightest bit of reverb for leads and I mainly use a Electro Harmonix Holy Grail Neo pedal..just wondering....I saw on another video in the comments some people saying the Engl amps effects loop is awful so got me wondering.
@rosskrause3926 the fx loop works great. I used a bit of reverb and delay on this demo actually
@@shredaintdead9323 I just listened to your video on my home pc with good speakers instead of my phone and I can hear it now..yep it still sounds awesome ! I found out earlier today that mine Fireball 25 won't be here until this Friday..I hate waiting for guitar gear !!
Mine was delivered Friday and it sounds great..no pedals needed but I did try my Boss GE-7 and EHX Holy Grail Neo in the effects loop and you were right..takea these pedals well. I will be enjoying this Fireball 25 for a long time..I bought it as a backup for my EVH LBX 15 Stealth head but put the LBX back in its box for safe keeping.@@shredaintdead9323
Suhr Aldrich.....more defined
It still sounds a bit low on gain for lead parts, can you boost the pedal even more?
You sure can! I don't use a ton of gain, the pedal has a ton of gain though
what input on the back of the unit does the preamp pedal go?
I bought both the EL34 and the 6L6 last Saturday. I set them both up next to my JCM 800 and I have to say, the EL34 gets pretty close to the JCM 800 tone on the green channel with overdrive on and drive set about 2. With a TS9 Tube Screamer in front of it with level dimed, tone at 12 o'clock and drive at 0. Eq Settings were Low at 8, mid 4, trebbile 8, resonance 2, Prescence 6. Kick in that TS9 and closed my eyes, and A-B back and fourth to my 2203 JCM 800 and sounds incredibly close On red channel, same eq settings and red channel drive at 2 with a Boss SD1 overdrive in front, drive at 0, tone at 12 o'clock and level dimed it has a killer tone for the heavvier stuff. I don't like the burn button, it is just way to much. I also running a CE5 Stero chorus, HOF Reverb, FlahBack2 delay and a EH 720 Looper in the effects loop and do not use the amp reverb. In front I am running Les Paul Custom Shop into a TU2 tunner, into Boss 200EQ to better shape the tone, into Morley Mark Tremonti Wah, then to TS9, SD1 and OC5 Octave. Last in Chain is NS2 Noise gate. The EQ pedal allows you to refine the tone really well. After 5 days of having both, I settled on the EL34 and returned the 6L6. The El34 is just a little more reminiscent of the classic Marshall tone. A bit warmer, and not as harsh as the 6L6. If I was a hardcore metal player, then the 6L6 would have been my choice. For me, the EL34 is a winner. And I forgot to mention the clean channel. Same EQ settings, but I do have a dedicated eq channel on the boss EQ 200 just for clean that gives probably the best clean tone I have ever heard from any amp. I have a fender twin reverb, and a 1977 Roland Jazz Chorus 120 I usually A-B with my JCM 800 for cleans, and the tone I got out of the EL34 with the eq pedal, is surprisingly better. No need for me to lug multiple amps to the gig now. Being a diehard vintage amp snob, I was very reluctant to give this a try. But wow!! I am glad I did. The vintage stuff can stay at home now where it is safe, and this will now be my gigging amp. Less to haul around to achieve great tones all in one head versuses A-B ing 2 amps, two mics in front and two channels to dial in on front of house board. This is a win for me. Never thought I would say this, and immediatley hated it until I gave it a try. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. PS: I spent about 6 hours total, tone shapping with EQ 200 to each specific channel to achieve the tones I finally dig. TS9 on Green Channel with Overdrvive engaged, and SD1 for Red Channel no burn button. The burn will never be used. And one final tweak, I removed the front grill and took off the 5150 and EVH logo and put behind the grill. Looks a lot better estetically. Now it's a custom lol
Wish you would have shown the settings I have one I just got but not very good at dialing it in I want that 80s metal tone
@johnasbury3744 you can see the settings in the video intro. Just pause it to see them
Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately my guitar is now filled with arachnids.
Awesome brother! Rock on! What model guitar is that Schecter?
@AngelMartinez-qs3cf thanks! Its actually a 10s guitar. I think the model is called extura or something.
Boss developed their distortion pedals to be used with pro gear, especially valve amps. They were never meant for the basement guitarist on solid state practice amps
Sounds like Metallica meets EVH. And they made a song or riff.
Orange Dark Terror is better than this amplifier.

@@winceyV1 thanks!!! It's a killer amp!
That actually sounds amazing, did you use a bit of delay or chorus or was it just the amp clean? I just bought this amp this week and im obviously very excited bcause its my first valve amp, gonna build my cab when i get home, bought a celestion V type, i like its sound
@@thomasVA9707 thanks! I used a little bit of delay and reverb.
@@shredaintdead9323 thanks man, those two effects really work well for alot of things, it sounded really good
@thomasVA9707 sure and thank you! Its a great amp. I'm sure you'll love it!
EVH
SD-1 is better than a Tube Screamer into a JCM 800 or the classic gain channel of a JCM 2000.
Hahaaaaaa it's still Eddies
I'm a type of man that just likes to make tones thick and grrr dirty, so for me it's perfect amp, and with sd1 it's will even better.
I use this setup with my DSL40. In Drive Chanel is perfect, but….I cannot boost for solos….in clean channel, I have great boost, but less drive….what’s the solution for boost in the dirty channel + SD1?😢
@rdannenh you need to add a clean boost into your fx loop for solos. Mix micro amp, suhr koko boost, friedman buxom boost etc all work great for that.
Just today I got a great Marshall style tone out of the clean channel with the treble boost on. An attenuator helps get the tubes distorting, but my Archer pedal gave it that extra bit of bite. It's not exactly like my JCM800 Studio, but its a pretty decent take on it.
I've owned the Plumes twice now. Sold it both times. I just don't get along with the thing. The SD-1, on the other hand, is my favorite boost ever.
@Mitch.Engel84 I actually sold mine recently too and stuck with the sd1. It's also my favorite of all time. I stack it with the suhr koko mid boost for insanely good tones!
It sounded way better in the 80s setting than the modern metal imho.
What no double drop F gauged ear lobes? Well I'm off to a ass-less chap wearing contest. Toots lol
after years of owning this amp i now just want an attenuated 100 watt jcm 800 more specifically the bogner helios, i can never get that 800 tone i really want, its a good amp though..
Meshuggah's Destroy Erase Improve is amazing. Writing music takes good taste and self-criticism. Most people are just bad at it. Internet guitarists seem to spend more time hoarding gear than writing or practicing. I would say the worst genre known to man is kawaii metal. Can't stand pirate metal, power metal or nu metal either. Oh and whatever Ghost is. Wish that band would dissapear already.
I wasn't the biggest fan of the look of superstrats but lately they've started to grow on me. I'm thinking my next Warmoth build will likely be a superstat.
I baught this amp to play Gojira riffs so thanks for throwing some in there !
@@MrFatPallasCat welcome!
is it worth getting?
@59plexi absolutely! Amazing amp with tons of versatility for a great price.
I personally think Les Pauls are more moddable… ok you can’t remove the neck, but a bridge mod is really easy and sth you can’t really do with a trem based super strat (I swapped mine for a bell brass one and the sustain is huge!)… a pick up swap is easier too and if you wanna change string gauge, maybe tune to D or C# standard, you just detune and tweak the truss.. this is a nightmare on my ibanez guitars, tho I love them.. I think gibsons play better too and contrary to shredder lore, they have just as quick necks, just as fast as an Ibby super wizard… remember VH was a huge LP fan and user as well as 335!
Make some more videos!
this is actually really funny im sad you dont have more views
@@FocusPocus-t4n thanks! Me too :(
FWIW Full = 20w, Mid = 3w and low = 0.5w for the attenuation.
i have an EVH 5150iii EL34 50 watt and did a shootout against my Marshall DSL 20h that I just picked up and thought i was loosing my mind, I liked the dsl better . was playing to a foo fighters backing track (Somthin From Nothin). I like it better here too, now I want to try the 100 watt
The dsl20 is insanely good! Punches way above its weight. It was my favorite amp of all time that I've owned until I got my soldano astro 20. Still a VERY close 2nd though! Best amp for the money out there
