HOW TO CATCH AUSTRALIAN SALMON ON LURES!! Wineglass Bay, Tasmania
Well done lads and you blokes play the best music l have a torn bicept and shoulder at the moment but I hope to be freediving down here at Southport after Christmas 👍
I hope the recovery goes well and you can get into the crays soon!
Thanks
You're invited to my party
Wicked!
You teach us a great deal and then you show us what to keep and what to put back and the reasons. Great video work and music!!
Thanks!! Will try and get some more stuff out this summer too!
Wow, thats amazing! just sitting there... no need to dive or anything?
Yeah was insane! We had a particularly calm period of weather - we suspect the rockpool was connected to the ocean via a cave, or the crays had walked in at high tide, to eat the mussels. The rocks in the sea over there get hit by too many waves to grow mussels, so the rockpools are the only place!
Many years ago my grandfather used to put a piece of wallaby at the edge of the rock pools and the crays would walk out onto the meat and he would catch whatever he wanted 👍
Yep it's crazy when you see them in areas like this, but back then it was completely normal all over the state!
@@tassiefreedivers4024 yep 👍
hahaha that is fucking ridiculous, awesome stuff
So good !!
i love west coast dolerite...
*quartzite don't you mean!
@tassiefreedivers4024 Awesome. What did u say about releasing the cray? I heard good breeders but couldn't hear your next point. Cheers
ah so basically we have long spined sea urchins along tasmania's east coast, which are capable of overgrazing kelp and causing areas of bare rock known as urchin barrens. Large crays can control urchin populations and prevent urchin populations from getting large enough to create barrens. Once the barrens have formed though it's very difficult for them to revert to healthy reefs naturally...
Into em will
Gotta get a feed!
Oi, get away from my secret ab spot. Fr though that’s bower spinach, which is edible just as warrigal greens are, but has much smaller leaves. Makes a great pesto, but you need to blanch it first. I think that’s to address the oxytocin levels in the leaves. If you’re foraging, consider taking it from a public park rather than somewhere that has strong habitat value Also, I think Baronia is informally a nude beach. So maybe don’t take your kids…
Cheers for the info! Leaves definitely seemed a lot bigger and thinner than most of the bower spinach I’ve seen on other parts of the coast. And great point about the reserve! Was also great to see a few abs coming back to the area. Back as a young tacker I fished it pretty hard in 2015/16 and there were no sized left, so was great to see that there’s a few coming back! Definitely going to leave it for others this time around!
BORONIA! Magic spot for cray.
This man knows too much!
is this the place near kingston beach ?
Sorta near there yeah!
Awesome video! Great job promoting sustainable catches 😊 Nice production on the video too!
Cheers!!
Nice video. Ive tried them lots of times and still dont like them
Haha yeah they’re definitely unique!
Another cracker little episode mate, thanks! Always awesome to be pushing the sustainable gear! Gotta say, your Nigiri technique could do with some mastering 😊😅 Ps when is this wind going clear off? It’s been nearly 3 months!
Abalone is great tasting
Sure is!
Yeah boy, lets do a spear one together soon
oath we'll make a documentary!
Can we see more 4wd corolla's hahaha love your work mate! can't wait to come dive with ya again!

It’s a wild time aye!
@@tassiefreedivers4024 my left little pinky toe goes numb and my jaw. It’s weird haha
@@tassieadventureman haha so random! I just get cold everywhere by about 30 minutes
I grew up on those exact rocks mate. Great memories. It used to be chockers with Trumpeter too.
Yep what an amazing spot! Unfortunately I think the majority of the trumpeter have been speared, all I see these days is the occasional solo undersized 😭
Where about is this at
Hobart! Australia’s best city!
Haha you guys are nuts! Balls shrunk into another dimension!
Haha it certainly makes you feel alive!
Where abouts in the Derwent?!😃 keen to get into myself!
On the reefs - all Derwent reefs have crays!
great video thank you guys
Glad you enjoyed it!
Diving there lucky you diddent get geert talen,d
yep, few big ones down there...
Well done gents its fairly hard work there l take my boat all the way to south west Cape there are hundreds of spectacular spots with big crays everywhere and easily diving. Sometimes we stay down there and sleep on the boat
Wow! That sounds like a great time. Definitely planning on exploring a lot more of the south coast this summer! Cheers
@@tassiefreedivers4024 l live at Southport may be able to take you fellows on a trip this summer
@@johnboy5167 well... that would be fantastic! My number is 0461 131 106 if you ever need another adventurer or two!
I have to say that you young fellows also play the best music 👍
I free dive all of the south Coast there are many amazing locations where huge crays are everywhere even in 1 metre deep water l have been diving there for over 30 years and will continue to do so
That’s awesome! We haven’t found any of those spots yet but we’ll keep looking! Planning to head much further west along the south coast in future missions…
Please do a catch and cook video, would be awesome. Similar to Field Days
We'll make it happen!
Where you at
