Discovering Lao Traditions: A Family’s Baci Ceremony in Nong Khiaw
Join us as we experience an unforgettable Traditional Lao Baci Ceremony in the magical village of Nong Khiaw, Northern Laos. During our two-month stay, nestled among the towering limestone mountains, serene rivers, and hidden waterfalls, we became part of a local family’s close-knit community.
In this video, we celebrate the birth of a baby and dive into Lao culture, from witnessing the incredible craftsmanship of handmade "sinh" skirts to enjoying delicious traditional Lao food, dancing, and live music. The Baci Ceremony is a beautiful tradition full of hope and blessings for the future, and we were honored to be part of it.
Explore with us the breathtaking landscapes of Nong Khiaw, surrounded by ethnic tribe villages, trekking trails, caves, and the natural beauty of Laos. This video captures the essence of Laotian traditions and the warmth of its people.
Watch until the end to immerse yourself in the stunning scenery, authentic culture, and joyful celebration! Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more travel and cultural experiences.

    Hello, I came across your account while looking for information about the possibility of transporting a motorcycle to the other side of the Kong Lor cave. You don't even know what a smile came to my face after seeing your video of this adventure! And here comes my question and request: do you have any information about the person who transported you to the other side? Or is it so common for local people that everyone will help there? Is there a possibility that this will be impossible if the water level is too high? How do you rate this crossing? Would you do it again? I will be grateful for any information 🙂 Greetings from Poland!

    "dangerous and isolated route by {motor}bike" ...no it isn't at all. that's youtuber falang b.s. it is a well trodden dirt road connecting two villages in Lao. there is absolutely nothing dangerous or isolated about it.

      Thank you buddy you sound great 👍🏼 I talk to someone for whom can be dangerous, there is no signal, Google maps don’t work, the road is washed of the rain with the big potholes, slippery clay and thick dust, very bumpy (my heaps started to hurt and had a headache from all shaking ) river crossing etc.. some motorbikes can’t even pass it u know what I mean. And if u are experienced bike driver with big dirt bike that’s not a problem it’s fun and great adventure I get it :) I was driving 110cc detach it’s a pain on butt but it works :)) you should watch the video, you skipped. This time of year, they are slash and burning their farms. It should be illegal because it contaminates the air.

      @usonearth หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you, You're right, the slash-and-burn practice does have a significant impact on air quality, and it's a tough issue. In some places, it's a traditional farming method that's been used for generations, but it’s true that the environmental effects, especially on the air, are concerning. Hopefully, there can be a shift towards more sustainable practices that balance both the needs of farmers and environmental protection. I will make full video of burning season in northern area.

    Bumpy adventure😅 Is it easy to communicate with local people?

    • @usonearth
      @usonearth หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, yes and no-it really depends on where you are and how you approach people. Sometimes, people may be reserved or not open right away, especially if they’re not used to seeing foreigners, but generally, if you’re kind and respectful, they’re kind back Even if they don’t speak English, we’ve been able to get by with body language-it’s usually just basic things like food, drink, sleep, how much, petrol, or asking for directions. And you always learn some words in their language like hello, goodbey, how much, numbers, thank you etc etc, . The people here are often smiling and friendly, and even though they might look like they don’t have much, I think they’re really rich in their way of life :)

      We had Detech (Honda win copy) the bike is not that big I guess as a XR150, but I think if you on your own they might take it, because river is pretty shallow sometimes they get out from the boat and push a little bit, but we were on dry season. The experience is incredible, and the short cut was way more fun and authentic villages beautiful landscapes, I would like to stay even there over night or two somewhere. Also we use Nikon d850 (but it’s more of photo camera but it does beautiful still shots) and Sony a7riii, and some lenses of course, camera is just a body, so it all comes to the lens, settings and camera position to the light:) All the best dude 🎉😊
