Usually it's between 2.5-3.5 hours. Depends on how much action paralysis your group has but safe to say 3 hours minimum for first playthrough.

Thanks for the compliments! With regards to immortality, it implements fairly seamlessly. The 'Research Station' overlay still goes where it normally goes, but the Experimentation cards go to the allies (replacing dune the desert planet as usual). Beetle bumps and movement up the Tleilax research track trigger from the leader for their respective ally as commanders do not have a marker on the track. They also purchase cards from the activated Sally's supply of specimens. It's a good addition! I didn't go over it in my video, but I think immortality is a nice option to the 6 player mode and balanced for both sides.

Oh ya that would sick. It's fairly easy to set it up, but for the purpose of this overview I played 95% of the time with rules as written. A variant that allowed any leader without the crippling forced asymmetry would be very nice, but I would probably want revamped commander boards as well.

Thank you so much for the wonderful comment! Ya, I still highly recommend popping that cardboard and giving it a swing. The first few games were excellent, but I do admit I play my games to death, and this one didn't hold attention for too long.

Oh ya I know what you mean, it's important to have games that everyone can enjoy the mechanisms without getting frustrated at the results. I think another game that shockingly works well for easily upset competitive players is Brass: Birmingham. Because it has an element of 'friendly' competition, it's approachable by people who don't want to feel like they've had negative player interaction, but the amount of interaction is certainly higher than wyrmspan.

Hey friend, you can! Buuuuttt... The biggest difference is the AI is replaced by an automated deck with different rules than players. The AI in the digital game follows actual players and is a significantly better experience in my opinion.

Ya definitely, no risk of player elimination, minimal interaction, generally pleasant gameplay, and tallying points only at the end, all lead to a very safe experience!

Ya I'm pleasantly surprised by the tablet/phone implementation, especially since it's the same game but cheaper than the steam version.

Hi Friend, good question! 'Dune Imperium' is it's own game. There isn't an 'Imperium' game, so 'Dune Imperium' is entirely it's own thing. There are 2 expansions to 'Dune Imperium' called 'Rise of Ix' and 'Immortality', which requires the base 'Dune Imperium'. There is also a sequel called 'Dune Imperium Uprising, which is its own game, but has the exact same nuts and bolts. My recommendation is if you can get 4 people together in person, Uprising is your best bet. If you want to dip your toes in, the digital version of' Dune Imperium' is the perfect entry point.

It's probably for a couple of reasons. 1. Gives the option to sell expansions/uprising individually as future upgrades. 2. Easiest to code and test the water for interest. 3. The original is the most well known and approachable. 4. Makes sense from a release standpoint to begin with the successful base game and move up from there. It's still a complete, and great experience! Just not the best of what could've been.

The digital version is the perfect way to get into it! Give it a go and let me know what you think!

Hi friend, that isn't an option yet! But if you're playing with the timer, I find the 90 seconds per turn keeps a pretty decent pace.

100% true, it works great for a family game. Satisfying enough, approachable gameplay loop, and shouldn't cause frustration between players.

My friends and I have played a ton of the 'Merakon Mix' which is the tailored method of implementing IX from the designer of the game that implements a curated deck list. (boardgamegeek.com/thread/3213458/merakons-house-blend) Overall, it's very good, and is an improvement from implementing the full expansion without considering the chemistry of the cards, however the removal of the intrigue spot and the additional contract can be felt in our games. Of course there is the 'jumpstart' contract, but I find it as a bandaid fix compared to a natural evolution. If you have the time, I recommend trying the Merakon Mix and let me know what you think!

I agree with you, the story teller has a disproportionate responsibility of knowledge and involvement that can dramatically reduce the weight of complexity of other players. That said, finding an amazing story teller can be hard for a group of people who don't usually play heavy games!

Oh ya good point, the BGG rating system is a bit illusive and definitely has flaws. I guess it's the closest thing the board game community has to a quickly reference and tier games, so it's become the default measuring stick. I think you're right though, the intent is key to enjoying the game, and wanting to dive into a deeper puzzle than your average party game is enough to swim through Trouble Brewing.

Ya totally understand your critique, the game definitely has an emphasis on combat. I find it as a good place for player interaction (including matching symbols), but I understand why people may prefer DI's lighter focus on combat. For my group, the combat phase is often the highlight of a round, with high engagement, and intensity. So helps create memorable moments.

Would you describe to me how engaging is the combat? the combat is decided by who has the most amount of blade symbols right? that amount of power can suddenly change?@@seaofpasta

Hi friendo, yeah essentially the blade symbol represents your strength. If you can imagine, every turn you may have the ability to participate in an 'auction' where you put in troops. You don't have to, and the goal is to put in as few resources into this auction, but since everyone else has the same goal, the winner is often decided by thin margins. The 'sudden change' typically happens during a part of the game called the 'reveal' which is when you show what cards you have left in your hand, which can bump up your blade value, or by 'intrigues' which are random mystery cards with various benefits. My group and I rather enjoy this combat, because having a narrow victory feels amazing and you're always thinking on what other people have and can do in a given situation. I don't have any evidence at all, except my experience in the hobby, tons and tons of videos I have watched about many different games and somehow perception or suspicion that some videos are orchestrated more or less. So there - I am admitting that, Have absolutely no evidence about that and my previous comment was just a my personal theory. Btw. how long have you been to a hobby and video content related to it on YT?
