Is that a truck bed from a specific company, or did you weld it yourself? There's a "Badland" sticker on the back, but Badland doesn't make beds, only winches? :)
@@coolftp this one might be a factory bed (flatbed only) it is very nice but I built all the gin truck components on it. The badland sticker was from the winch. I need to make a video about building this truck it is very interesting

Lol in winter a high idle is used
Sometimes, I've seen trucks run at 900 for a little bit then go to idle, some trucks are programmed to kick off the high idle after a hour or so. You can't trust your truck to high idle itself unless you don't care about it or have bags of money.
'Promo sm'
How did you get switch to do that?
Did it set the high idle? Hooking the aux 4 into the seic all which is above the parking brake lever
Well done, great piece of equiptment those are. Teaching the next gen. Is what it about. Maybe some atf in the diesel will clear up the starting. Probable just old diesel.
Yeah I can't wait to fix the dump bed, will be using that a lot. My oldest got taught on a manual transmission truck and she's already forgot how to stop in a manual lol.
Life is too easy..

Haha that thing is out of scent, been hanging on the little hook for over 4 years. I had to tie a knot in it to hang it back up.
I just put the windows down like a man, and I live in south florida which is basically satans asshole, as far as heat index.
Windows down equals a dirty pickup, at least here in windy kansas
A man can afford to keep his ac running. A man doesn't want to sweat and stink.
@@skinlab4239 That's not the point, the point is not to bitch about stupid things. And I hate to say it, but if you work in an oil field you're already going to smell strong, nothing an open window will make worse. 😂
Wait...why do you have more buttons then I do?
The aux switches or on the steering wheel?
What happened to letting the oil warm up before increasing engine rpm I guess I’m old school.
The threshold for that system to idle up is a lot lower than you think. If it waits for the oil to be like 100-120F then it would take 20 minutes before it even idled up in cold weather.
You're 100% right. Pistons require heat to operate at normal temperatures. 214 F at least. If you high idle. You may end up with pistons and valves slapping harder.
That's extremely hard on the engine as the time to let the engine "warm up" is a lot longer than if you just drive moderately. In the dead of winter if I just hop in and go after 3 blocks of 1/4 pedal the truck will start kicking out heat. If you let it idle it takes a very long time. If you high idle it it takes maybe around 5-10 minutes I can't remember.
@@medicchester peg would disagree with you and so do I, truck never sees 214° unless I'm towing or something is wrong. Most 6.0s out there have a stuck open thermostat and only see in the 180's and people are not easy on them. I have never heard of slapping valves on a 6.0
@@diesellivesmatter Over-rev a 6.0 and those pistons might pull a Chris Brown.
Be sure to let it idle for half an hour minimum too like my neighbor does at 5:30AM every morning
That's pretty hard on an engine especially if your not high idling it.
ROTFLMBO!😮😂
I always idle up my ram 6.7. Turn on cruise running in park hit the set button twice 1100 -1200
It's nice you can do it factory and you can pick the idle speed. On the 6.0 trucks it's 1200 (I've seen it going higher with boosters) but at least it sets faster than the cruise
Your brake pedal pad is upside down.

Love the straight pipe!
Lol and yea much better :)
It was a gift from the wife!
cool, would it help with some sort of cross brace if not 2 between the poles, like at 5 & 10 foot marks from the top?
I don't think it would since the gin pole design is very strong to side loads. Having the proper angle is definitely best. There could be some things like belly wires half way up the pole or something but these are supposed to be handy and easy. When I make a permanent long set they will be both sizes of pipe all the way up and I'm going to go with 15' too, these are too long to fit under wires.
Wouldn't have hurt to get some acetone or alcohol and clean the surface of the plastic it would have helped the epoxy stick better.
Yeah probably, I sanded it. I've done this a couple times and it worked but this time it only got me home. My radiator at home was cracked so I have to change it again.
Well I just wasted a bunch of time swapping radiators. This one is back in the truck sealed and working. Just needed to give it more time to set up. Video out this weekend over it

I can't tell if that's a common rail or it has an injection pump. If it's got an injection pump I would check to see where your positioning is for your throttle on the pump itself. Somebody could have a confused if they worked on it before between full fuel and idol
It's an injection pump, throttle was binding under the timing cover and the throttle stop for no throttle was bent so it was setting a very high base throttle. Took me around 5 times taking the timing cover and injection pump off but I got it. This is just a short from the full video linked at bottom I think. Thanks for the comment
Very cool little truck. Will be awsome machine. Mechanical diesel, very good apocolypes vehicle. Nuke or solar flair, that will still run. Could even push start. Everyone shpuld have one of those. Sweet!!
I have it almost ready to drive, I can't wait! Makes me want to throw a IDI or similar in a 05-07 super duty to have a super reliable easy truck.
@@diesellivesmatter 6.9l, 7.3l IDI are good engines. Even the similar chev 6.2l is pretty good. All million mile engines. But have to run, some 2 stroke oil or addive in the fuel to keep the pump healthy. Pre low sulfur fuel. Modern diesel variable centane non-lubrrcating garbage.
@@manbuilds1587 I typically run diesel treat on 2007 and older engines. One of the better reasons to build an idi is to run up to 100% wmo with cheap injectors. 300 HP is plenty for me and I'm sure I could get close enough.
@@diesellivesmatter dont need much for a daily driver 1/2 ton. 120hp 200ft.lbs good enough for cruising around 30mpg. But need more power if towing anything bigger than tent trailer.
@@manbuilds1587 yeah probably going to build it as a tow away rig where you tow other people's trailers for money. I always go like 60, well 100 for you communists, because you don't know the condition of the trailer, so a little extra umph for hills. How long are your poles? In process of building similar setup.
Those are 16.5, they are way too tall for that truck. Normally they are 10' and are pretty handy and safe at that height. I'm going to slide in 2 3/8 x 10' on my normal ones and make a set with both at 15' for temporary tall stuff. I hope to build/buy a medium size in the near future with 15'
