Hi, any advice would be great. I need dry ice for my party Saturday, but can only get it delivered Fri. I will only need 5 or 7kg of pellets & it will come in a little styrofoam box, is it okay to not open that at all & then put that inside a normal insulated cooler zip bag, but without zipping it or zipping/closing it all the way? Getting mixed messages & saying i need to also buy minimum of 10kg for it to last about 34 hours, where can i put it outside the house to orolong it please? or can i wrap it/do anything to prolong it or leave it inside my garage but not in my freezer overnight? Its for halloween drinks & i did it 2 years ago wuth great success, we drank it fine & used tongs. Thanks

How about dry ice stored/packed inside the styrofoam cooler box with goods inside, can i seal all part of the box with the tape completely? Can it explode if not ventilate ?

Ok ive worked at a place where i had a lot of dry ice to throw away. The child in me knew how to have fun. But with all the safety stuff here, i never had issue with hold it in my hand and never needed glasses. To this day i still have fun but everyone around me treat its like its the plague. Dont get it.

Anyone know if Penguin dry ice is "food grade"? In other words, no contaminants like lubricants. I've contacted Penguin through their web site and all their social channels and they won't answer. Many people are using dry ice to refill carbonation canisters like SodaStream. If there are lubricants, that is getting infused into the beverages people are making. Suspicious that Penguin won't respond.

@. almost $2 a pound in yr. 2022- & most places only sell by the bag, (most bags are 8-10lbs) then there's the shipping cost. That's a costly 4 gallon of ice cream. Easier to send that person a gift card or the recipe lol!

So can you use dry ice in a cooler
Yes, however there’s a lot of important steps you need to follow when doing so. Because dry ice melts into a gas you need to make sure that the cooler is able to vent the gas off, otherwise it’ll explode, and no that’s not an exaggeration (search TH-cam). You also need to make sure the dry ice doesn’t touch the cooler itself as it’ll cause the plastic to crack. Wrapping the dry ice in newspaper or a towel works but make sure you use appropriate gloves and common sense when doing so.also make sure that there’s a barrier between the dry ice and anything you don’t want frozen as direct contact will cause it to instantly freeze. Keep pressurized items like cans of soda or beer as far from the dry ice as you can when kept in a cooler.

It's not a locked lid, just a cooler. It pops open and breaths.
Before you do the steps in the video you should put ice on the bottom and leave the ziploc open so moisture can escape

If you've got dry ice, why the hell do you need to supplement with regular ice??? Why even use dry ice?
The dry ice is colder than regular ice so the dry ice keeps the regular ice from melting.
if you put ice on top of dry ice, the regular ice will insulate the cold from the dry ice which could help prevent any carbonated drink from blowing up from being too cold.

yes. There's also dry ice nuggets. I find these work a little better for my use when I can find them.
How long will dry ice keep food feozen
It doesn't necessarily freeze the food to be cold. It freezes out the liquid so that when it dries, it should be dry. So, it doesn't keep it frozen. It dries it out quickly.
