First drive with comma.ai self driving
Installed the comm.ai self driving hardware and the open pilot software today. Took it out for its first drive. Impressed with it so far. Even more impressive when you consider that this is a 7 year old car with nearly 175k miles on it. Don’t need a new car to get the latest technology.

It came with a stack of invoices documenting previous repairs. It currently has 291k miles on it. I found 3 different invoices going back 50k miles and 5 years ago hat mentioned the rag as a coolant tank cap. I found the cap! It was right there the entire time! It’s very disheartening that 3 different technicians mentioned problem, but did not find the cap. Do better!

Just a quick note: the number displayed on your speedometer is totally irrelevant with regard to left lane laws. Absolutely meaningless in relation to left lane laws.
Every state could fix these problems on their roads very quickly if they wanted to...maybe start handing out extremely high fines, especially for 2nd offenses...or start revoking driver's licenses, and straight to jail fro driving without a license, etc. I ASSURE you, this is all being done by design. People up top know that everything during your day is becoming more and more frustrating. From things at your job not making sense to clueless drivers on your to and from work commute. All this to demoralize the Normal people. It's called subversion...a communist tactic to run everything down, so they can take over. Look it up,
I drove Indiana highways which are 4 lanes and all 4 were full including the passing lane
Hey, this is revit up, can I use your videos in my new episode? Watermarked and linked to your channel of course. thank you!
There are big signs when you enter VA on any interstate telling one that radar detectors are illegal. It can be seized at the time of being caught with a $100 fine. Connecticut is another state with a law against radar detectors, and Canada will seize and destroy them on the side of the road while you watch. They use radar detector detectors, and all passive instruments such as radar detectors do radiate an RF signal that can be seen by such. And, VA uses another system for speed detection that a radar/laser detector will never see and you will not know that you have been caught until you get pulled over.
1. Virginia no longer takes radar detectors if caught. There are no laws banning rd’s in Connecticut. Virginia and DC are the only places in the US with such laws. 3. The laws in Canada vary by Province not by Country. Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan they are legal. And finally 4. Not ALL as you stated can be detected. There are several undetectable Rd units available.
VA uses VASCAR, which is essentially a speed differential calculation. The insidious part is that the police car can be travelling at a different speed than the offender and it still works, and there is no way to know you are being clocked.
@@commontater652 VA also uses aircraft to track speeders, and one never knows that they are tracked, and VASCAR works from way up high.
Keep driving like that you will get a lot of tickets.
Hey! I just got a prius prime 2018. How is it?
Also how was the install?
The 18 wheelers in the 3rd lane should have been the focus of the cop.
What is the detector saying, other than the beeps?
How does it know if the lane next to you is free, are any other cameras added, or it uses the blind spot monitoring?
Great question! It doesn’t know of check if the lane is free and it’s safe to change lanes. The driver is responsible for making that decision.
AFAIK it uses the cars blind spot monitoring feature if it has it. Plus the cameras are 360 degrees, so it can see out the sides somewhat
Self driving hybrid > electric car.
Hogs is a result of not caring. If ppl had manners anymore nobody would ever be obstructing the road and freedom.
How does it interface with the car? Through OBD?
Yes, via the obd.
@gonzoprius3589 thats cool. I'm gonna look into it more cause I drive 70k to 150k a year in my prius.
@@jacobknoxdroid not sure what generation yours it, but it only works on the 4th generation and newer.
There is a plug-and-play intercept for the Lane Keeping camera housed above the rear view camera. That is your primary interface. You can see the wire heading to the camera cover in the video. The small device you install under the camera cover also connects to the OBD via a 6-foot cable.
Hello, can i use your clip on my channel ? It will be credited on screen and by link in the description
wasn't the Cadilac actively passing cars? How about if the police focus more on drivers not honoring the 2 second rule. I guarantee you the roads would be much safer. Yes- left lane campers are annoying but if I'm that Cadilac driver- I fight the ticket. Left lane camping is when you're not actively passing a vehicle for a least a ¼ mile. That's 1320 feet for all you math fans; which is about 10 seconds @80MPH. The Caddy was actively passing slower vehicles... at 87 MPH ???
I came here to ask the same thing. No one was hogging the left lane in this video, everyone was passing slower traffic. The caddy probably got busted for speeding.
You're being kind calling them technicians, Sounds like maybe they had Zippy the Chimp working on this car.
Bs
🤣🤣🤣 good find sir well done haha👍
Everyone knows you need the head of a doll to seal a cap
Love this idea!
Sad but true, many technicians just don't care about customer service😡
its a toyota. it doesnt care
If that rag is any indication of maintenance done I’d run…
Yeah, knew what i was buying here. It runs, has a loud rod knock and a two year old hybrid battery. Paid 1k cash and drove it 150 miles home with the rod knocking. Swapping in a used engine.
Im expecting it to be a ways away, its hilarious seeing how it was RIGHT there and the overflow tube is holding it right in place. hahah
Impeding the left lane should be reckless driving then these self righteous/incompetent idiots will finally learn their lesson
Incredible.
I think I know what is going on here, this is Fancy Gap Virginia, on I77 near where I77 meets I 81. Its a very steep incline and decline and its easy to get your car into a situation where the gas pedal is floored and it wont accelerate any more up a hill, very difficult to pass when you dont have enough speed, then you are stuck perhaps to the left of someone going same speed. Radar detectors are illegal in Virginia, and I think the cops have radar detector detectors, hence the "first alert" message on windshield, must be a heads up display. Notice the drop offs of landscape on right side of road and inclines on left, very mountainous, very dangerous. I blew the head gasket on my BMW 525 about 10 years ago, that was the end of the car, when it met this hill.
Just shows you what crap BMW is if a hill blows your head gasket
Legendary!
Those types of drivers start road rage. Drives me nuts. I watch these videos all the time and it amazes me the people in the left lane still won't pull over even with flashing lights behind them. One of my pet peeves is people who won't turn their lights on. Like they think the 1000 hour light bulb is going to burn out faster. The idiots that think their "daylight" running lights are good enough to drive. But they don't know the rear lights are not on.
Very cool Jay... 😎👍

Hello there! May I use this clip in my compilation? Thanks.
