James Onedin is a real Scrooge! And Tom was the best character of the whole series.
Charlotte didn't care about the children when she ran away with her lover.
Jut finished watching the entire series. OMG I absolutely love it!
Young Will Onedin has a brilliant future in shipping.
Probably the best television series ever created brilliant stories, brilliant acting,
Whenever I get bored of life I re-watch the whole series. I was born in 1951.
I was the Floor Assistant (Eunner) on all this last series. I remember the jungle set well - the goats ate all the foliage. Fun times.
You haven't been 'woried' for children when you've run away with those fool on the boat, haven't you Charlotte?
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It’s a weak premise to think that the proprietor of an international shipping line could be thrown into jail (or rather, gaol back then) for the supposed receiving of stolen jewellery worth £50, and threatened with up to 14 years of hard labour. Sure enough, it could happen to a common man or woman, but this guy has supposedly recovered salvage ships for the government, and around the world, so you would expect him to have many high powered connections and be in a position to hire a cracking good legal team. Add to that, that on a ship that is in port, anyone could have stepped on to it at anytime and put it there - it’s hardly like there were surveillance cameras everywhere to deter people. I know that it’s only a programme and that generally you shouldn’t read too much into these things. But seeing as they have gone to great lengths to provide a plausible historical and social context for the entire run of the show, whilst weaving in many of the events of the time (in a similar way to Upstairs Downstairs, which also overlaps with much of the time frame of this show), you can’t just walk past the difficulties here. Someone like Van der Meed wouldn’t want to give evidence because it could be reasonably demonstrated that he had a reason to ruin Onedin, and had indeed stated it, so all the evidence would be coming from the people who were placed much lower in society. Although in most respects this was a great programme, the plot line here wasn’t satisfactory; it’s just an opinion, but I think that some trumped up charges of either fraud or embezzlement - or a combination thereof - would have been much more convincing.
Yes, A long journey - magnificent series. From NZ.
onedin slow learner
This is the 3rd time I have watched this series. It’s the best ever . My god father took me on a beautiful schooner 78 years ago. Does anyone remember Capt Watchkin on the Fitechban ? I have photos. 60 yearsagon
Great history lesson. But, Prince Alexander of Battenberg (Mountbatten) looked "too Bulgarian" to me. He was a German Prince and the uncle of Lord Mountbatten.
lol bs
I have watched the The Onedin Line since the first episode aired so many years ago. I watch the entire series again about once a year. Wonderful.

Blimey this swashbuckling is tedious - was there not any wrangling amongst the capitalists in 1890? But they killed off all the main characters so we're left with this.

Gabriel Ducharme was better known as Shungus. He was the local Medicine Man and he had a lot of respect from the people of Cormorant.
Great series
Bucharest,Constanța-my country Romania❤😊
this is on nfb eh
Max is such a snake
A sad episode. Tom was the most likable character of all - and the most admirable.
He would not use the term "gentlemen" for ship hands. We also never used it in the 50s. "Men" would and is still the correct term for us commoners.
deze margarita is een echt "rotwijf "!!
Somehow my most favourite character is Elizabeth. So well played by Jessica Benton.
I worked this line from The Pas to Churchill from 1966 to 1981 on the train crews. I knew most of the people in this film and they were great down to earth people.
Thanks ptooti, Nice sentimental ending to this series-thanks to you and Lance for making it available to us!
Thanks ptooti, Very exotic settings for these episodes!
Thanks ptooti, It seems James has found love again-more of a feeling of high adventure in this last series!
One of the best series ever! 👍 Thanks for posting!
What a great series.
Ptooti, Thanks for providing these remaining Onedin Line episodes!
What a lovely humane life-affirming ending to a wonderful series from a bygone age of BBC drama. Thank you.
Good old Mr Dunwoody.
My goodness, 91 episodes, and when l came here to leave a comment, there were 91 comments! Anyway, thankyou so much for uploading this, it's been a rollercoaster ride, and l enjoyed every single moment of it. The acting, costumes, story lines, everything, was so good. Truly the best entertainment lve seen in a long time. I remember my mum and dad watching the programme in the 1970s or 1980s but l didn't take much notice of it at the time. Now l see why they loved it so much. And lve come to love the tall ships and learnt a bit about sailing too. I'm going to miss this so much, l wish it could just go on forever. Thanks again and God bless.
