There's a better conversion kit out there called The wasp conversion kit get that kit and you'll never have another leak like I did on my tractor these two here leak all the time the pioneer is the same as a John Deere the ones I have are just push and pull just like the new tractors it's called The wasp conversion kit

Got the old m f whizzing again , that sound takes me back to when I had mine!

Having issues connecting my shredder to this new set up, I can’t get them to go in a lock up. Like can’t get passed the barring part that catches the connection. Not even with a hammer they pop right out.

Have you ever had to replace any of these iso style barrels or replace the o-rings? Looks like that clip holding the barrel in place would be a real pain to get out once these are installed. Just curious

I'm happy to see them running again. I had a 75 Liquifire 340, and my ignition would cut out on one cylinder at random. There was no way to get a replacement ignition module in the mid 1980's, and it ended up being given away. I wish that I had it now, as i'm seeing modules available now. It wasn't the most comfortable machine, and it would go through front skis often. But, for a 340cc machine, it was FREAKIN FAST!!! I liked the black/silver colors and the graphics. Great Memories!! We bought it used in the mid-1980's, upstate NY, in the Catskills. My parents bought a vacation house around 1985, in Haines Falls NY, in Twilight Park. There were numerous times that there were blizzards down in the City, in Queens county, where we lived. I remember leaving at around 7:00 am, from Whitestone, with my daughter, (she was about 7 or 8) we got in my 88 Chevy 4wd pickup, and drove upstate. When we got to the house, we went inside, (to use the facilities) and so she could eat and warm up. I loaded the sled in the truck, tied it down, (too long to close the tailgate) and we drove straight back home. We arrived just as the snow started falling. Everyone said I was nuts, but I was so glad that I had gone up to get it. Very shortly, you couldn't drive, and I took my mother, on the sled, to the grocery store! I was everywhere that night. Quads couldn't keep up with me, and the police didn't even BOTHER to try!! Just a great memory. I wish that I still had it.

Hey awesome video! After you got the barrel in all the way were you able to move it back and forth by hand? I've got the seals and backwashers in and I'm working through this and it seems like id have to use a pry bar or a hammer to get it to slide. I'm using an aftermarket kit (probably my first mistake) and think the tolerances might not be good.

I switched my JD ISO over to the WAPSI, My Deere ISO leaked from day one when I installed several years back. No leaks now.

Had one of those once. They need piston swap. They can rev over 9 grand if everything is working. Took that engine and swapped it into a 81 SRX. It performed really well in the lighter machine.

Ah… the old Arctic Hex… the Hex bushings would wear over time causing slip and it would break an arm on the spider. Later versions were a little better with an extended stronger bushing. It would hold up on a small engine, but anything with more than about 50 HP it would fail rather quickly.

Save the easy top bolt till last, and install it first.

Hi i had a 84 440 liquid it was doggy atbottom end kawasaki had same motor but more horse power to bring the jd up to the same power we changed heads ,bumped compreshion bumped timing @ rejetted it turned the track around wanted to go not stop this made a world of diference

It’s not your belt your secondary needs to go together more so your belt is higher. That will give you a lower gear to start. You primary dictates the rpm. If you tighten the secondary to get rpm you loose efficiency Secondary just tight enough so the belt doesn’t slip.that sled needs a lot of clutch work. It’s horrible

I always thaught they were hated cuz it was a stupidly designed pos that made xtra useless noise at idle at least the doo tra was a great answer to what the rv's needed and only hated by those that didnt understand how it worked good luck btw dont all three pieces have balence drilling?

Take a look at 84 jd and Kawasaki liquid 440 engine specs. I had a 84 jd liq we changed the heads to raise comp. Bumped the timing and rejetted it ,to kawi specs .we also turned the track around I was more worried about going not stopping bill w

I had the same year machine. The engine and engine mounts are way over engineered. The water pump and oil pump way of engineered.

I used to make mine all the time, much much cheaper

Good job. I know collectors who will not mess with clutches, they just swap them or buy new ones. I have been messing with them for 20 years or so. The 100-C that was used across the line in '74 are pretty much good for 1000-1500 miles, then you toss them. The 101-C that was used in '75 was very much re-buildable, but you would have to find NOS parts to do it. As you stated, parts are still available for the 102-C, but some of the arms are not available. For example; the "F" arms used on the mid-mounts. It is often a judgement call whether a clutch is worth re-building or not, as the cost of the parts can quickly approach the cost of a new one. Often you will have to heat the cover bolts to remove them, as they were Loktited in when new. Twist one off in the tower and you have a problem. I have also had spiders I could not remove, and I know guys who have broken vises in the process. The spider requires heat to melt the Loktite. Torqueing the spider to 250 ft/lbs is problematic as most guys do not own a wrench that goes that high, and you are likely to break something. I get them as tight as I can with a standard 1/2" breaker bar and call it good. The Deere manuals I have just say to tighten it securely. Most of these old sleds will never get enough run time to wear the clutch out again anyway, you should be good now!

Bro Your on the right track , Increasing the Tension of the spring in the Driven clutch causes the drive system to Downshift sooner and harder , You Adjust Overall Top RPM by the Weight of the Drive clutch Weight's , Less Weight = Higher RPM , Sub Up Breh's !

Ive always wondered about the facing the sheaves on a lathe and balancing the clutch. Some folks mark parts so they are clocked the same after reassembly. I have several pieces and parts. Can i mix and match parts or am i going to be out of balance and do some serious crank damage??? Thanks. Awsome video. Straight to the point.

What if a person had machine tools i.e, lathe and mill? Could it all be machined?

HEY, I wrapped the front of one of those around a stump in Montana! Cost me $600 in 1993.

We used to throw Walbros in the trash and use a Tilison add the glass ball, best we could find back then. But Mikuni is much better! Yeah, we had to piss with the cock we had too. Can you fix my 2005 Pol RMK 900? I just don't want mess with it the old ones seem easer.
