    Well it depends. for video 35 is obviously better. For photography; if you're more macro, wide, animals etc then again 35, BUT if you're looking to mainly photograph portraits of people without dropping thousands. You absolutely should buy the 50m

    • @TMVVisualMedia
      @TMVVisualMedia 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for the comment! I really like the 35 for full portraits too. I can usually get a lot more of the scene in the frame. Have you tried the rf 35 on a crop sensor. It's great.

      What's the camera body? For the price there is no other better deal than the nifty fifty. Like I mentioned, the nifty fifty is likely everyone's first prime lens. It's just so affordable that it's hard to ignore. If you had a little bit more of a budget i would ask you to look at the 35mm. The 50 on a crop sensor is close to an 85mm and that's a little tight. But the 35mm on a crop is a 56mm. Fyi

      @juancarloshorta1934 love the Canon R8. I filmed a lot of stuff with it using the nifty fifty and the 35. Awesome combo. Notice that the 50mm does not have image stabilization. The 35 does have IS. This is important because the R8 does not come with IBIS

    Thanks for this video buddy. I am upgrading from a 77D and my use case involve wildlife (50% birds, 50% big animals), indoor video - talking head on and TH-cam, may be some dance videos outdoors for my wife, at times some family events. Better battery and dual memory card not needed. I intend to use my canon 50mm and 70-300 lens for now. My would have taken the R8 but the Apsc really helps with wild life. Unless a 150-600 sigma ef would do the trick, I need to work with my 70-300. 🙏

    • @TMVVisualMedia

      I carry extra batteries for the camera. That's the easiest way to address the low battery life. Another option that I have is rigging out the R8 with a monitor and a V mount battery. It's an expensive investment. But worth it. I may do a video about it. 🤔

    APSC sensors do not change the focal length. They change the field of view only. All other aspect of a given focal length remain intact. If you’re going talk technical aspect, get the information correct. Also, the R7 can record video in C-Log, the R8 does not. Serious content creators will want to use C-Log for full control of video editing.

    • @TMVVisualMedia
      @TMVVisualMedia 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for the comment! Speaking in non-technical terms, would you say that if i put an RF 35mm lens on the R7 will the field of view more closely resemble that of 56mm focal length? The R8 does record in C Log 3. If you need help finding it I can happily walk you through the menus. I know because I own both the cameras. Several cameras that all film in C Log 3 They all seem to match well in post. Lastly, there are plenty of "serious" content creators that use standard profiles. Thanks again for your comment!👍

    i wonder if any women will weigh in on their preferences. Seems to me (male) that size, weight, positioning of controls, etc might be quite differently prioritised. Also worth mentioning that Canon sells a body extender for the R8. Any viewers care to comment on their experience with that?

    • @TMVVisualMedia
      @TMVVisualMedia 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The extenders in my opinion add zero functionality. I would recommend a cage. I have a video coming out that talks about that exact problem and how to fix it with a cage and add some more threads and mounting points as well as providing a better grip. I intentionally added my hand size on camera so folks may size up their hands. Thanks for the comments!

    Does the R50 have in camera focus stacking/bracketing like the R8? I was looking at both, and the in camera focus stacking really appeals to me as I do some close in photography similar to product photography, which is what brought me to your channel. I was also wondering about the crop sensor vs. the full frame of the R8. Thanks

    • @TMVVisualMedia
      @TMVVisualMedia 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great question! If you have the budget for the R8 then I would highly recommend the R8. Or even the R7 if you're looking at the crop sensor. They are close in price and you could get a deal on the used market. The R50 is a neat little camera but you will likely outgrow it very quickly. But to answer your question I never looked into the bracketing feature on the R50. I only tried it in a camera shop. I have made a few reviews on the R7 and R8. Do I need to get written permission from everyone I take a picture of? Some people be out here with a 400 mm lens just hittin shots from a mile away. Is that even legal?

    • @TMVVisualMedia
      @TMVVisualMedia 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It depends on what country you are in. In the United States it is perfectly legal to photograph I'm public areas. You will have to be mindful what constitutes a public area though. A pedestrian gives up the right to privacy when they are in public areas. It's important to respect people's personal space and to not be a nuisance. Use common sense. I also can't be standing in the public and taking pictures of people private residences through windows. That would be odd. Additionally, if I am ever asked to not take photos or to erase photos I do it without hesitation because it's not worth the argument. In some countries it's definitely illegal and you can be held liable. Plenty of resources out there, so you may educate yourself on the subject if you wish. How many pictures of you do you think are out there that you never realized were taken by cellphones when people take selfie or are sight seeing. 🤔

    • @TMVVisualMedia
      @TMVVisualMedia 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @fluffycast92 great question! I think it will for sure because it's tough to record 8 hours. I took this set up and had my R8 and atomos monitor for a weekend shoot and both days I never really dropped below 50 percent. Also they sell one larger size than the one I am using. I think it's a 150 and the one I have is 99. I like the 99s because I can take it on a plane without it being an issue. But that kind of stuff always changes. So to answer your question directly, I think you will be happy with the 99 and it's longevity. Should be good for the whole day. I think the R8 would overheat at like hour 2 though if you're recording internally.

      Both are really good systems. Canon is a little more expensive and your limited on your 3rd party lenses. The Canon lenses are the best on the planet and they come at a premium. Sony has great technology and has opened up their mount system to 3rd party lens makers. Making the lenses more affordable. It's a tough choice regardless but you will not go wrong with either brand. They are both premium brands. Let me know if you have any other questions. I own all Canon cameras. Including the R8.

      @@TMVVisualMedia You have to consider this too. How many primes can the 28-70 F2 zoom replace vs the Sigma 28-50 1.8. Canon has an outstanding zoom lens winner here that is until Sony or Nikon bring an alternative to this market.

      @TheRedc0met I have thought about it but I think I have concluded that Canon lenses stand on their own. I say this respectively, but nikon and Sony only wish they could compete. Bold claim I know. But it's my opinion that Canon sets the standard.

But to keep the answer simple and a client approached me with this project I would quote them 1000 dollars. For me 35mm is good allrounder, but for lots of situation it is too narrow for me, even 28mm pancake is sometimes too narrow. I often shoot 14mm with samyang 14mm 2.8 on my R5. But I hate to always change all the 14mm, 28mm and 35mm lense several times in a hour. So I perhaps will buy the 15-35 :) Or I use my 28mm and do 3-4 vertical shots and stich them together to get a good panorama which looks good as a 15mm photo, too

    • @TMVVisualMedia
      @TMVVisualMedia หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 15-35mm is exactly what you need then. I had a similar problem to yours. I was tired of switching lenses because all of those focal lengths I use for recording video. It's the best investment I made and it's my most used lens. There is a slightly less expensive 14-35mm but I believe it's a f4.

      That's a good enough topic for its own video. I will definitely make an update to this video. But in short it's easy to identify. If you have ever had clients that change their minds constantly or that don't respect you time or boundaries. That's a very good indication of a low quality client. Essentially there are two kinds of buyers. Buyers that are looking for a deal and then there are clients that are trying to buy their time back. You do not want to be working for clients that are looking for a deal. Let me know if you need more clarity. Happy to help.

    R5 is down to around 2600-2700 new. r5Ii on the way but will be close to $4000. I’m thinking the R5 at the current prices is a no brainer - doubt it’ll be discounted much more. Any thoughts?

    • @TMVVisualMedia
      @TMVVisualMedia หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you can secure a new R5 body for under 3k it's totally a no brainer. But it might be worth to wait for all the people that will be upgrading. If you're into buying used gear from reputable dealers I think you could score one for the low 2000s. R5 is my least used camera to be honest. Even though I still love it and will probably have it forever.

    • @kontaa
      @kontaa หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly, have the M3 Max laptop to support processing, and 20 TB of NAS storage so don’t mind the downsides in that respect. I’ve had the R6 which I loved, and currently have the r8 which I love. Debating because because the R8 or R6/R6II don’t work with an Astro ecosystem I got, even though that’s a small part of my usage. The R5 fits in… but the hesitation is the proximity to the R5II release! Looks like canon has refurbs for close to $2k, might do that ! Biggest fear for me is the less effective AF of the R5…
