SEEING & HEARING NATURE & WILDLIFE UP CLOSE
The Watershed Wildlife TH-cam channel is dedicated to the appreciation of the wildlife and and nature surrounding West Michigan's watersheds. I position my cameras in a way that is intended to have the viewer feel as though they are present but unseen, watching and hearing nature up close. They are best viewed on a big HD screen with a sound system.

Michigan Wildlife - At A Creek
Where there is a source of water, you'll find wildlife. Seems like a good year for opossums but also a wide mix of animals at the creek that includes Whitetail deer, Coyotes, Fox, Wild Turkey and others.

Spooky sounds in the woods, there's a bobcat nearby!!
มุมมอง 2152 หลายเดือนก่อน
I spend a lot of time in the Michigan woods but I've never heard this warning behavior sound like this. It sounds louder and much longer in duration than what they do when I disturb them. By the process of elimination of the wildlife present in the area, we can safely assume who it is, and it isn't Sasquatch.
Michigan Wildlife. Visitors to a small wildlife pond.
มุมมอง 5663 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a small wildlife pond I dug in September of 2022. There will be a future episode on that project. The pond has attracted a great deal of attention from wildlife since the very beginning. It is a favorite spot for deer, turkeys, raccoons, squirrels, and a variety of birds. It remains a work in progress.

Trail Camera Hazards
มุมมอง 2216 หลายเดือนก่อน
Close calls with wildlife trail cams. Every trail cam location has its inherent hazards. In remote areas we would anticipate that the hazard to trail cams won't be humans. Recently two of my cams were exposed to the hazard of falling trees along a small creek. You can't anticipate these kinds of hazards so I suggest that you don't worry about near misses and place your trail camera using your k...

Thanks for the video, nice work as always!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Northbound bridge, one way only. Wounded coyote, beautiful ducks, great variety. Fox with a wet tail? Or some other problem? Very nice. Thank you!
Thank you! And thanks for watching.
Love the sunbathing squirrel
😁👍
Why does an opossum cross the bridge?
Hm-m-m...🤔. Thanks for watching!
To get to the road kill on the other side of
Great location for variety of animals. The audio was great too with the birds singing, the water splashing, even the coyote slurping from the creek. Thank you for sharing this, 👍🏼
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it! I think good audio is important.
Awesome, it was good here in Southern Indiana too.👍😁😁
Probably better there...😎👍
@@WatershedWildlife I wish I would have put a camera up. Take care bub.😀😀😀
Too cool!
It got very cool here, very quickly!
Now that's cool! 👍🏻👍🏻 Ours was around 96% but it was mostly cloudy.
It didn't seem that dark but eyes compensate. The camera didn't. Thanks!
@@WatershedWildlife yup, I know what you mean!
Went to see the total in Indiana. Saw the 2017 in Tennessee. Amazing. This is a great video. Sent it to some homeschoolers.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
So cool
👍 Thanks!
The noise is a fox I think
I've heard both fox calls and deer calls. Because it sounds more breathy than vocal, I'm leaning toward deer. Thanks for watching! And listening!
I’ve heard a sound similar to that once or twice in the woods while deer hunting. It was just after full darkness. My rifle was unloaded but, not knowing what was making the sound, I considered putting a couple rounds back in the rifle. Just in case, you know?
Ya, it's an odd sound and seems to vary among deer. Usually it's a short little huff, but these were very long. It's probably more important to worry about what the deer is warning about, depending on the local residents. Thanks for watching.
Fox
👍
That was a weird sound. That came out of a dear?
No doubt. I think it may have been more than one deer. They make a sort of whistle by exhaling through their nose. They usually stamp a front foot too. Thanks for watching!!
oddly, I heard a condensed version of that noise last week....I live near the mountains in Alberta. I get up around 3.30am, go out with my dogs. Dogs (3 big ones) head out first quickly and startled some deer that were close to homestead. Male with big set of antlers stood ground, faced dogs, flared nostrils, opened mouth, tongue partially out, and made this shriek/yell noise...scared the tar out of me....I actually thought at first a cougar was out there - and if I had not seen it, and heard I would not have believed that noise came out of a deer. :) love your channel :)
You had quite an experience! Interesting. Keep in mind that during the rut in the fall, those guys can be dangerous. I do enjoy the woods at night. The deer make some other less intimidating sounds too. Sound a little like a raspy burp. I've caught it a few times in videos. Thanks for watching and for the comments!
Second go round of the deer alarm scared my cat! Coyote.......coyote food 😂.
Glad I heard that in this setting. Never heard it before that I know of.
Hope your cat got over it... but glad you enjoyed it. Nice to know you stayed to the end.
@@WatershedWildlife kitty is fine. I comforted her and gave her a treat.

Thanks for the video, surprised the buck still had antlers!
Me too. I've seen them into March before but never any as developed.
I always love a good hen party!
I guess that's why there's a separate 'boys club'. Thanks for watching.
sublime
Merci!!
Very nice. The added info is much appreciated. Bird drumming on wood right at the end? Did the deer spook each other? Thank you!
Thanks for watching. Yup the woodpeckers are busy. It only takes one jumpy deer to spook them all.
Polite turkeys would cover their beak with their wing if they are going to sneeze 🤧
🤣
Thanks W.W. Again you’ve brought us a variety of animals, weather, and sounds. The wind, the deer crashing through the leaves, turkeys purring to each other, all so nice. 👍🏼
You're welcome! I like to keep my cameras close for the experience.
Folks you heard it here first! A live turkey sneeze! Nice variety. Thank you.
You caught that! 👍 I'm no expert on turkey sneezes but it was my best guess.
Fantastic captures of the hawk with its prey & all the different diversity of wildlife! 👍 👍
Thank you! You never know who's going to show up in front of the camera.
super beau bravos
Glad you enjoyed it! Merci.
Oh he got mad didn’t he!
It certainly sounded like it. After all these years, it's a first.
Shared it in person with a Tennessee state park ranger along with fawns first rain. 😅
I'm replying a 2nd time. YT didn't post my first one. Thanks for sharing. Maybe the ranger will subscribe. 👍
That button buck 🤦🏻♂🤣 I've had raccoons change my camera view but not deer! 👍🏻
Same here. I was surprised by his persistence.
@@WatershedWildlife yes, that seems quite unusual.
Definitely gets a thumbs up! I think this is the first time I’ve laughed at one of your videos. The Leap Day snowy procession of the turkeys got the laugh (Ringo). 😄 The darn vandal deer have got to be stopped. Maybe that one was camera shy and decided to abuse the video equipment? Thanks for the video. 👍🏼
Sometimes opportunities come along that you can't resist. That was one. I should put a little pepper on that camera & see what happens. (Maybe a little Sargent Pepper) Groan...
Thank you for a fun video!
Glad you enjoyed it! You're welcome!
Wildlife behaving like humans. Nice to see the trail cam vids again as spring approaches.
Yes, I hope to keep up the pace after some conflicts have now passed. Thanks for watching.
Just beautiful ❤❤❤
Thank you! 😊
Love possums on zoom speed!
They probably look funny enough walking away from the camera at normal speed but I couldn't resist. Glad you enjoyed it.
@@WatershedWildlife if you left it at normal speed it would probably have added 15 minutes to the video
Thanks again for the video Jerry. I think the deer was asking if you got a good profile or for the film rights.
I don't speak deer talk but I though it might be a negative comment about being watched.
Thank you for another wonderful video with plenty of variety. The deer talk and other animal sounds (turkeys purring, crows calling) were very interesting. 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it! It's all about the whole experience.
Deer at 246 pregnant? Conversation? " 'scuze me! Great group!
That doe probably was pregnant. The rut (breeding period) is during autumn, development takes place during winter and fawns are born in spring. Many mature does will give birth to twin fawns.
Thanks Ron. Yes, in a few more weeks it will become much more apparent.
Hi Jerry, thanks for another great video. Was that an Ermine or a Weasel?
It was a Long-tailed weasel. They are excellent mousers. Unfortunately fox will occasionally prey on them. I'd rather they stick to gray squirrels. Thank for watching!
This is best food for the soul. My cat and I enjoyed this. Its all I need before work. Raccoon cracked me up doin pull ups on that branch. 🦝 Look forward to your videos 💕 🦌🐿🐀🐇🦃🦝 Turkeys were stunning!!❤💙 Debi 🙋♀️⚘

Thank you Jerry for yet another wonderful video. I was going to ask where is the Squirrel, but he showed up right when I asked myself that.
Some of the recent weather has discouraged some of them from going out. Now that it is thawing they are back. Thanks for stopping by again!
All the wildlife look healthy and adequately fed in this December filming, and that's good.
The health of the inhabitants is a good sign that the environment is also healthy. We hope it stays that way. Thanks for visiting.
Awe, I absolutely love your videos! Ty for sharing!
Glad you like them! Thank you!
It’s good that the cameras are still intact after the log fell across the creek. Now there’s a dry crossing for the animals that choose to use it.
