That thing sounds ridiculously good! Without hearing it in person, id say this sounds better than my Matin 0-18
Wonderful!!!!
Tried a custom shop OM18 today (actually, two... One Sitka top, other adi). The custom shop models are noticeably better than standard models. Very nice bass punch and mahogany thrum though feel a little more difficult to play than Larrivee. Two different brands with completely different voicings, really.
Which of these do you prefer (Nick, and the player who played them)? 40 series has a nice bass and airiness to the tone. 03 more balanced, less airy, more mid range. I've always preferred the symmetrical bracing when I've had the choice.
I don't actually prefer one over the other. They honestly both sound excellent to my ears. Boring answer, sorry. When the 03 is strummed really hard it has a bit more headroom.
@@tuneupguitars all good, my friend!
Not usually keen on their more scalloped bracing but this sounds good. Guess I'll get to try it in 20 years when it hits UK stores.
You played the Mahogany guitar differently and gave the Rosewood guitar more "air time", you might say. You had a chance to do a good comparison and you blew it by favouring one of the guitars.
You said it with a little more passion than I would have, but I too noticed that and had wished he would have played exactly the same lick/riff on each for our comparison.
@@richardwheeler3768 I definitely did intend to dmonstrate a bit of frustration because it happens often. Especially in videos by guitar stores it seems.
Larrivee please stop this! I’m not a fan of Adirondack but this seriously sounds amazing - I shudder to think about this setup in the SD body.
Guitar strings tuned down?
Medium 13-56 Daddario XT strings tuned to DADGAD.
Can you have this girl do a video of all of the 24 series Larrivees you have? Her soft playing style (and the sound setup) would do a better job of showing me what the L or LV-24 sounds like or the D-24-than the most TH-cam videos I see. (I saw the short one you did on the LV-24.)
I'll have that video up tomorrow. She plays the 000-24 in the next video.
@@tuneupguitarsPerfect. Of course, no worries if you don’t, but I’d love to hear her play the LV-24 (a D-24, if you get one), and for the love of god, if you ever get an L-40 or an LV-40 in put her on that too. There is literally one TH-cam video on that model and it is not a good one. Be nice to know the difference L body sounds from -03, 24, and 40. (I have a LV-03r moonwood, and a D-40 Bluegrass). Appreciate the videos
I do have an LV-24. We will demo that tomorrow.
@@tuneupguitarsPerfect.
Moon Spruce, 12-fret, and general Larrivee awesomeness!!!! What's not to love??? I'm not typically a fan of such small instruments, but this sounds amazing.
BOTH have Elixir strings..no doubt.
The Yamaha might have had elixir. I think Martin might have daddario XS.
Would like a fingerstyle shootout next😊
Love the design of these. I'd be particularly interested in the SD-24, but who knows when or if we'll ever get it here in the UK.
I can ship to the UK!
Cryin Holy?
Hmmm... maybe?
Nice /pickingComposition. Is it in any of your tracks :) ?
This is @charliesutton7108 original tune. He does not have this specific guitar on any of his music (to date).
I played the BG-42 and HD-28 at a store in Toronto recently and had the same impression. Martin sounded recessed and damped. Boucher was alive with punch - guess which one I bought :)
Sweet.thx.spotted a used one gonna have to try it out after this😇
This shows me that it's the top that makes the difference! They sound very similar but with the attributes you'd expect - slightly more bass and treble with dipped mids and more harmonics for rosewood... More woody growl, less bass and treble but more mids in mahogany. As ever, best demos !
I don't know why fine guitarists insist on doing percussicve thumb slaps. It adds nothing to the music, and is just plain annoying.
Hello; i have the same guitar. What type of strings do you use? Greetings from Spain
Jason likes to use medium strings, so we set this one up with D'Addario XT 13-56.
Unstoppable. Listened to this 40 times In a row. Gonna listen to it 40 more. What a snack!
Nick, hit it out the park on this video. To compress so much information in less than three minutes is incredible. Proud owner here of a OM-03 Moon over Bhilwara. I love it.
Thank you!
You owned it Jake, made it your own. Outstanding!!! Bravo
Where can I purchase a GR-HG-166-T? Also, is it possible to get a torrified curly maple or is flamed maple the only back and sides used for this parlor style of guitar? Thank you for your help. Sincerely, Mary
Wow! Both Jason and that Larrivee sound wonderful! 👍🏻✔️🇨🇦
Great tune and playing.
A customer of theirs once told me that Jean phoned him to ask what inlay he wanted on his new guitar. He replied that he wasn't interested in inlay but was told that he had to have it in order to keep Wendy busy so she didn't go out spending money.
Decent guitars, very pretty, but bailers as a business. Here today, gone tomorrow.
They've been around a long time and they're great guitars.
I'm after that Rosewood but I'll have to try the Maple before just to be sure.
Wish the edits were cleaner. Song sounds like No New Tales to Tell, but that’s just my ears.
Great playing. And, thanks for letting the guitar do the talking. Nice not to have to wade through the sales pitch.
Really nice.
At 0:50, that’s my young floating head above the buffing wheels, lol. Circa 1995/96…
AMAZING
Both sound like they need some time to break in
Have to say that after your Boucher maple video I came back to this and really like the maple sound, what these builders are doing with it. I love the moon spruce pairing here. Btw not asking for a demo but I see you have an OOO-50. How does the compare (with it's enlarged soundhole and shifted bracing) to a standard 05? As ever, great material...
The 000-50 is such a good guitar. Right now, its the guitar I pick up the most to play. The neck, body size, tone... it all just works on this guitar. I've played so many guitars that I'm not ever sure if bracing patter, soundhole, wood choice, even make that much of a difference. So much of it is up to the builder of the guitar.
Thanks @@tuneupguitars I'm not a big 40 series fan and know the 50/60 series uses the same bracing pattern which has put me off, but perhaps the enlarged soundhole and shifted bracing might give the sound a different tone to 40 series. Looking forward to the day I can try one locally
Also prefer the maple to the rosewood.
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet Brazillian Rosewood!!
I actually preferred the maple body in this video.
The customer just received the torrefied maple just yesterday wrote to me, "UNBELIEVABLE. It’s all the even, woody, gnarly response I love in my mahogany guitars, but with a little bit of extra sparkle on the top end (can’t wait to hear how this changes as the strings break in). And you can PUSH it without overpowering it. The bass is present but not in your face, and doesn’t flub out on you. Have never in my life played a guitar like this."
Boucher is the only builder that makes me love Adirondack, and now Maple. I love my Larrivee’s but Boucher takes it up a notch or two. Maybe one day, when I feel like my skill could justify a 6k instrument. Of course by then, it’ll be 10k.
@@fredflinstone3173 Amazing Boulder MN
Beautiful
She is to inlay as Jean is to picking out some of the best tonewood. What a team!
In the 70's there was one with an eagle landing on a cactus in Atlanta. Wanted it, very young. long gone.
We can do a payment plan to lock in that price 😉
Love this... Now THIS is a family business
Wow this sounds better on this demo than it does when you compared vs the Bubinga and Rosewood models... I prefer this one, massively. Maybe the previous demo was a 14 fret hog (I checked - it was!). There is a sonic quality to the sound that is impressive
The Artist really made this shine, I want one!!! Bravo!
Really coming to appreciate the Larrivée quality and sound after buying a simple travel T-40 on a whim. I didn’t expect much from a travel guitar, but only after playing it for a few weeks did I realize the intonation on the higher frets is superior to my much more expensive guitar. Also I realized the neck is a one piece dove tail which is surprisingly rare now yet very important for resonance. Not sure how they do it but I’m now in the market for their parlor size too now. Nice video.
I'm counting 14 frets.
Yes, this is a L body which joins at the 14th fret. There are also other models like the SD, 00, and 000 that join at the 12th fret
Oh yeah, what sounds so low, like it
Yes! Thank you for making short scale a standard feature.
Personally don't care for cutaway acoustics. But that's me. I really can't tell the difference on a blind test. Only playing. So yet again like anything else it's a personal choice.
Cut aways look infinitely better
