10 Year anniversary collection
Who would have thought that ten years ago, least of all me?
It is with great pleasure that I present the 10 Year anniversary collection; There are five very individual instruments, each with its own little story. Each drum will be briefly presented individually over the next few days and can be purchased via the website.
It's definitely some of my most beautiful work I've done in the last ten years.

10 year anniversary collection/ Birch snare drum 14x4.5
มุมมอง 1144 หลายเดือนก่อน
This wood is the same wood that I used to build the first real solid snare in 2014. ( See photo) The wood was given to me by someone back then and has been waiting all these years to be released again as a very special anniversary snare. Birch is a great tone wood and in the size of a piccolo it helps to produce a crisp sound with a top response. A colored inlay as a separation between light an...
10 years anniversary collection/ Ipè snare drum 14x5.5
มุมมอง 474 หลายเดือนก่อน
The history of this snare goes back to the very first snare made in 2013. Unfortunately, my first attempt failed, and it was immediately the starting signal with Solid Drums in 2014. I thought to myself, there has to be a better way to do it. In the photos you can still see remains of the very first shell from 2013. The wood from back then was just enough to build a single snare for the 10 year...

This snare comes from a local plum tree. Plum is one of the best tone woods and can also be found in the highest quality flutes. Unique in appearance and sound. A timelessly classic instrument.
10 year anniversary collection/ Yew snare 13x7
มุมมอง 704 หลายเดือนก่อน
This cheeky little banger was made from local yew. Yew is a very rare local wood. It is one of the densest woods and is extremely tough. It is the hardest of all so-called softwoods. Unique in appearance and sound, with the in-house stainless steel hoops a real beast. Unique !
10 year anniversary collection/ Olive snare drum 14x6
มุมมอง 434 หลายเดือนก่อน
This wonderful olive wood comes from my private wood collection. Brought to you by a friend of mine from Sicily, its grain is so exciting and spectacular that it is difficult to top. A rare find and only available once. Olive wood is very hard and has an exceptionally dry sound. Unique! 14 x6.0

Solid Drums" Basswood" Series Sound Demo
มุมมอง 1.6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In our newest video Jwan Steiner demonstrates the newest addition to our wooden species family. The idea behind this series was using a lightweight wood but with very fine grain structure. With Basswood ( Linde) we found the perfect match for getting a relatively light stave drum kit. It has those wonderful vintage drum vibes and has a soft playing feel with a lovely low end. The Kit demoed in ...

We tuned them to the exact frequency described at the end of the video. The drums are equipped with a Ambassador coated on top and a Ambassador clear on the bottom. Wow…..now THAT truly was a drum made by hand. Loved the jigs you setup for the lathe. Very cool. I’d love to learn how to build a drum using those methods.

Very subtle differences. The player is mostly what determines the sound. All of these woods offer great sound. It ultimately comes down to who is playing.

the real answer is each song written desires a certain snare drum to be great..so they are all great in the right application

I love beech. The warmth and "roundness" of tone on that drum sound amazing. But honestly I think I liked the Cherry the most out of all of them. Such great balance. Honorable mention to the Apple. That one probably had the most unique sound to my ear and in a very good way.

And I love the finish on the apple and I really like the tone that it gets, but outside of the dark tonality it doesn't really have much personality. And you missed a couple of my favorites! Rosewood is beautiful, Ash is always welcome, and Birch has quickly become a new favorite, and mahogany is always a dark beautiful stranger! Otherwise though this video is fantastic! I think most people don't know what they're listening for. I look forward to more of these!

A friend of mine was recently experimenting with something called Brazilian Ipee ( dont think i spelled it right. Pronounced ee-pay) and teak. Both 14x6 and solid stave at 1/4". I am really excited to see what comes of it!

I also forgot to compliment you on your Technique. The demonstrations were all very consistent, and you seem to have a good understanding exactly how much force to put into it. Some drums do not sound great at all volumes. And some do not come alive until you beat the ever-loving shit out of them. You were playing Just Right to get a good sound out of all those cells. Kudos
