This beach (Dappat se Gat, located at Kogels Bay resort) has been our family holiday destination for generations. Grandparents took my dad and his siblings camping there when they were young. My dad, mom and aunts and uncles took us kids camping there from as young as 6 month old babies. My husband and I have taken our daughter camping there too. It's still as beautiful as ever, thank you for the reminder of all the wonderful family memories.

We surfed dappat se gat for years. Used to be a secret place. Not anymore. Packed over weekends. Also watch out, troop of baboons get very aggressive, and chase people and steal their stuff. Best to go during the week nowadays.

Many years ago we went to Mapelane, just south of St Lucia, North Coast ,South Africa, there is this beautiful blue lagoon (just after the movie "blue Lagoon " showed), so us kids all had a nice swim and jol. Only after we heard this lagoon is riddled with crocs. I think they were all intimidated by the bomb dives and noise.

Really enjoyed your enthusiasm and drive. They truly are beautiful places with spectacular scenery and adventure filled journeys. I'm about to embark on a life changing adventure myself. Selling my home and purchasing an expedition/overland truck of epic proportions. The idea is to visit as much of our beautiful country, completely off grid, in relative comfort as I can before I can't climb into the cab. I could have a new sunrise or sunset each day, but I plan to savour some of them for a while. The campsites you visited are very cool, but I plan to wild camp too. Just a side note ... and I may have misheard, but the isn't an "N" in "restaurateur". I know you meant well and I'm no spelling or grammar nazi. I can't spell to save my life - I was corrected years ago and it has stuck with me. May you have many a safe journey with spectacular destinations ahead. Cheers - Clive.

Local here. We call it cool bay and before that stupid dappat se gat sign came up it truly was our island paradise. Spent many evening there waiting for the sun to set till past 9 at night not believing how lucky we are...

I would be careful swimming there. I am from Cape Town and had almost lost a friend there when he bodyboarding there. Everyone knows this break so please stay informed

😂😂😂😂 it was never a secret everyone living around the Helderberg know that spot there is also a beach resort close to it call Kogal Bay. So not so secret as you imagined 😅

This is my back yard, we go there often and it is beautiful. When I first saw the title of the video I was annoyed that you want to show this "secret" place to the whole world which makes it's special "secrecy" null and void. But when I saw which place you are talking about it is actually not that secret, well I suppose not to the locals. You can drive past that spot anytime on a weekend and you will not be able to find parking there. My favourite thing to do there is stand underneath the small waterfall and cool down. Enjoy!

Not in cape town, not even within the cape town municipal zone. Koggel baai is nice beach, on the right day, but si is every other beach in the area.

We got attacked by Baboons here:)

Myself a few friends got stuck in Dappet se gat when we were teenagers. A spring tide had come in and we were forced to weather the night in the cave, lost surfboards, wetsuits, towels, etc. Not a pleasant evening. But a great memory.
