tbh David would've been easier to explain in lore , just make it so that when David got shot he found himself in the world of GGStrive with one eye missing and only having his sandevistan , where in the first he sees sol and after hallucinating and getting psychosis he realized that he cannot understand how he got here with the first battle having you control sol as it shows that you don't have control over David , then after beating him sol drags David to Asuka where he gets a prosthetic eye that controls David's psychosis which could lead to David's route to get back to his world

While CDPR are the IP holders, it easy to forget that ArcSys have already worked with TRIGGER for Kill la Kill: If, so in terms of logistics getting someone from Edgerunners as a third party guest character was probably one of the easier options for them to pull off.

Lucy is the one I don't feel like fitting in gg's. Rebbeca and David have better personality that arnt too similar to already existing characters. And still have cool playstyle and gameplay ideas. I don't feel like cyberpunk don't fit in gg. It's anime. It's punk. It's crazy bombastic. Not bullshit blazing but pretty close. Like the tech they have in cyberpunk is so far from tech that it can be interpreted as magic. Even if that's the smallest concern I have.

Mean having a shotgun of a guest character makes more sense than a safe choice like ragna, it is more likely to bring in a new audience while i think ragna probably wouldnt get new casual players in at all. Plus there isn't really a lot reason that would make blazblue make any more sense in universe to be in GG, so might as well be a character that you wouldn't expect to even be in a FG at all.

My question is why the guest character isn't David or Rebecca?
