    Are all those "popping " sounds from backfire going downhill under compression? Does the engine hold a speed going downhill, and what percent slope overcomes the compression?

    • @Uraljunkie
      @Uraljunkie หลายเดือนก่อน

      Indeed. The bike will definitely hold speed going down a hill. Not sure how to answer your last question… I’ve never been on a hill so steep it overcomes compression. It is geared pretty low and doesn’t have a high top speed.

    First of all, thank you for your videos. I, too, have fallen into the abysmal addiction of these wonderfully awful, joyously painful beasts. I bought a 2020 Gear Up this Spring, and spent weeks working on extricating the bugs of neglect the previous owner let crawl into it. I am almost to a point of normal Uralism, but still have a problem with the handling. She pulls to the right. Right now the toe-in is a whopping 1¼", checked many times as accurately as I could. And the lean out is about 1½ to 2 degrees. I had it at 3+ degrees which didn't seem to help, and actually seemed to make handling"feel" worse. Any words of wisdom? Thanks. Len

    • @Uraljunkie
      @Uraljunkie 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there… that’s a lot of toe in. I think the spec is somewhere around 3/8th of an inch. Your lean out sounds about right. I would start with getting the toe in correct and then go from there. Curious if it helps - let me know. Thanks!

    • @Snegovik1000
      @Snegovik1000 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Uraljunkie But for some reason I start to start consuming oil due to wind resistance. if there is no wind, the level remains unchanged. I drive at a speed of 80 km/h. oil Motul 7100 20w-50.

    Thank you for this excellent Ural content! Air cooled aircraft engines typically cruise at a maximum of 75% power. Above this percentage the fuel flow is greatly increased with very little speed increase, and engine wear curve steepens sharply. Overheating can happen with sustained operation above 75% power as well. IMO the comparison of a typical air-cooled aircraft engine with a flat 4 or flat 6 configuration is apropos as the Ural engine is of a similar design era as the aircraft air-cooled engine. Just as the Urals have gone high-tech with fuel injection/ignition so have air cooled aircraft engines but the power percentage guidelines still apply.

    On newer Bikes red(+) is from the other side(right side where sidecar mounts), so the easiest way to jumpstart is to connect positive to the plus red wire which goes to starter and the other one negative black to any of open metal or negative which is from left side of the bike and is accessible when you put away left cover. Also it is not a good idea to ride on bad battery as you get enougth of power oly on high RPM and some of sensor may not work correctly on low rpm because of power loss. I had this issue with bad battery on my Ural cT 2020. And this riding with bad battery ended with dead crankenshaft sensor and dead throttle position sensor.

And the outlet - valve coud erlier break, it gets hotter than normal. .... my idea:put it off and make a good paint on it.... thats the best you can do, or change the material and take stainless steel... or chrome.... best wishes , Peter

    Hi Allen. I recently purchased a 2017 Ural Gear Up and noticed the Owners Manual on Page 4-2 (Fluids, Lubricants & Capacities) lists 20w-50 for both the Engine and Gearbox oil. Do you think its a typo for the Gearbox oil, or was something different with the 2017 model? I guess I'll have to give the stealer, I mean dealer, a call.

    • @Uraljunkie
      @Uraljunkie 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Kevin… Ural actually changed to specs for gearbox oil a couple of years ago. We are now supposed to use 75W90 synthetic oil in the gearbox. I think that is a good call since the bikes have a dry clutch and the gears are pretty hard on oil. Your dealer should be able to verify that. Thanks a bunch for the question and for watching!

      You make it seem very easy, I think I might give this a try myself. My only question is if your old brake pads are very worn, which I think mine are. How do you recompress the pistons?

    Hello Alan. You haven’t uploaded for a while. Are you ok?

      I am doing great - thanks for asking. It has been another crazy year, but I am hoping that the other projects get wrapped up so I can do some Ural stuff!

    Thanks for the great tips and video details. This helped me tremendously, and got rid of my annoying squeaky break.

    I've ridden the off road part of this trail on a Suzuki dual sport. I think my Ural would work out fine on that trail too. Keep these videos coming.

    Have you tried the Zion's tunnel? It connects Bryce and Zions national parks.

      Not sure. If I did, it was many years ago. I’ll put that on my list - thanks!

    Alan: You missed stopping by the Provo river falls which are along this scenic highway. I have rode by it many times without knowing this spectacular sight is there waiting.

      Great idea. I should have included that in the ride. I’ve been there taking photos a few years ago.
