lapped on the 8th of may 2015, during a trackday. 4 seconds slower than my personal best BTG. Not so eventful but more of a "clean" lap

Video from fall of 2014, 18-22 sept. Lots of traffic and lots of fun. Subaru Impreza Type R. Practising trail braking which is why you sometimes see me turn in and turn a little out again, this means the back is sliding a bit. Trail braking is all about balance and keeping the car on the edge, from turn in and all through the corner.

@@blnfxt good idea, never had problems with oil temp though. There is alot of talk of the engine bay air pressure being high at high speed, but this works, i have front mount

Do you run with toe out on the rear? The back of my v5 type R rally car doesn't come around that easily.
@@crice1uk hey man, no, toe is zero all around. I use trail braking to get back end out, its a balance, but really fun and fast.

@@whocares264 thank you for your input, i think its impossible to sit in front of your computer and actually feel what the suspension is doing, and most importantly what the brake is doing. So please take you sit at home diagnostics and go away they are not welcome here.

Nice lap in the Suzuki Swift Cup, haha 😅 Traffic wasn't that bad, I've tried much worse and now it's even worse as far as I can tell from many other recent videos from Misha for instance, always yellow flag zones, very hard if not impossible to get a free lap unless you're first on track after a closure...!!

@@philip1541 Yes, heard the same but it's a bit risky weatherwise and you may have to stay there 3 days or longer to get some good laps. An alternative is a trackday but not any trackday and there's still the weather factor but on proper wets allowed on trackdays you're flying, I've tried it but on a TF day, Dunlop wets, amazing experience, can only recommend 🥳

What you are seeing is called trail braking, you brake into the corner with too much speed causing weight shift to the front and the rear swings out. No handbrake
I know a subi interior when I see one! I’m going to look at getting an ‘06 STi soon as it’s one of my dream cars but I’m worried about reliability. Advice? Thx!
@@itssrust 06 is a great car from an engineering standpoint 👍 dont know if it has weak points, maybe engine, they had problems in the beginning
dont put engine mods without tune. if using ots tune only use what it says no substituting. don't bang off the limter all the time. make sure compression is good before engine mods. be ana.l about maintenance. Don't flat foot shift or launch it alot. no wot below 3k unless your in 1st. If it's having issues don't be stupid. if your having issues fix them before beating on the car. don't put a blow off valve on without having a standalone. if your changing the stock put an aftermarket bpv ( dont need one below 20 psi). recommend the turbo smart one (make sure you oil it regularly it comes apart) Keep an eye on your fluids. If your modding keep it around 350whp/ftlb 400+ should build the short block. Do some autox or track days to learn how to handle it properly. I have an 98 rs coupe with an 06 wrx engine with a vf48 turbo making 303whp and 360ftlb while having the stock 98 5 speed which people say are made of glass. I've had my swap with the td04 for 3 years and the vf48 for 2 and have had no transmission or major engine issues (knocks on wood). I drove it hard with the td04 but with the vf48 it's too fast in first to go wot without needing slamming gears so I stuck with 2nd before getting on it too much. with the na engine i used to beat on it slaming gears and stuff. If I do it now I likely shatter the trans. The sti 6 speed will hold up much better but can still be broken. Treat the car right and take care of it and it will last fine, dont and you will be in for a huge bill. Alot of people who have issues don't take care of them properly or mod them properly
@@jeff666p yeah honestly in terms of performance mods I won’t be doing much for a couple of years as I need it for a daily in the Canadian winters. When I have enough to get something else I’m going to turn it into a rally spec car so likely around that 350hp mark. When I do get it though I want to do as many mods that can indeed increase the reliability just to stay on the safe side but I don’t know what to get in terms of that.
@@jeff666p for reference this will be my first car modifying. I don’t want to molest or trash it around like others do nowadays but I want it to be fun and capable. I don’t know a whole lot about tuning and modifying yet but I want this car to get my foot in the door. Nothing stupid until I do my research essentially. What would you recommend in terms of reliability mods and anything else to keep an eye on? I appreciate the advice!

Very nice lap! i dont know if it just looks like but it looks like your hoodscoop is turned arround= ? are you running a front mount intercooler and juse it as a heat extraction?

@@philip1541 if i might ask why did you switch? is it for the better highspeed cooling on track or is it for a biger max power output? as there are top mounts rated upwards of 500. is yours a v5 sti?
@@SenfSemmel-v5i yes its a v5. I had a process west top mount, rated for 500hp if i remember correctly. But it was not sufficient for my 360hp, so one wonders where that rating comes from. I can monitor the temp in the car while driving (air temp just before manifold). I switched to front mount and got a little more lag but also a constant performance whithout temp spikes. I was also starting to go sideways alot and then top mount is useless. Hope this answers your question 😀

@@SenfSemmel-v5i You are very welcome yes DCCD, its a Type R, you can check my video on Knutstorp lots of drift there 😀. temperature after IC went up when on the nurburgring, so much that performance went down, the ECU retards the ignition when temperature goes up.

If you go racing and you don't have a moment that puckers your butthole up get off the track. But if you do have one of those moments and then you post it to TH-cam pretending like it's more than just a burp of the throttle with some counter steer to correct it also get off the track because you're doing it for all the wrong reasons. You don't need everybody's attention to enjoy your hobby especially a hobby in which you sit in a car alone and it's all about you individually😂😂

the driver of this Mini owns an establishment close to the 'Ring, so first off he knows the track like the back of his hand. also, minor detail; the thing has been AWD-mid-engine swapped with a sequential trans and a huge turbo. sounds crazy, I know, but it's true. oh and he owns a second very similar build - one's a hatchback, one's a 'breadvan'.

Likely a engine swap, vtec, hayabusa and R1 are the most common
I think, mini used advantage of slip steam, crowded line, and small size to take over passing through, on straight duel mini stand no chance, despite the mini engine not stock, probably
