This channel is intended for the discussion of all things music (particularly metal & rock/indie/alternative) as well as sci fi, horror and fantasy related books and films.
I love the idea of having the platform to share thoughts and feelings with a community of others who share said passions !
....If you were wondering 'The Green Man' is a reference to the epic fantasy series 'Wheel of Time'.

David Gilmour 'Luck and Strange' Album Review
I review the 5th solo studio album from Pink Floyd singer and guitarist, David Gilmour. His first album in 9 years, I was curious to see what this record had to offer as an addition to his impressive discography (with or without the legendary Floyd)

For this Sunday's Premiere, I go through a selection of some of my favourite Post-Punk albums (including one recent discovery and an odd one out from the 'revival' era). It's an influential era of music I particularly feel an affinity with due to its often moody, vulnerable and gothic flavours.
Crypt Sermon 'The Stygian Rose' Album Review

Epic Doom Metallers Crypt Sermon return after 2019's 'The Ruins of Fading Light' with their 3rd full length release 'The Stygian Rose'. I review an album which sees the band move into slightly newer territory whilst not losing any of the strengths of their prior outings. Deeper yet more concise as a musical offering than its predecessor, 'The Stygian Rose' will take you to new towering heights!...

May 2024 Recap & Album Ranking (This Month Was FIRE!)
มุมมอง 653 หลายเดือนก่อน
Although I don't normally do monthly recap/ranking videos, this month was too good to resist doing one for. There are 13 albums which I listened to and felt comfortable to include in the ranking. There were obviously many more releases than this (basically, if the album isn't here I either didn't get to it or felt I needed more time with it).

Welcome Back Green Man - gotta say I was disappointed by this album 🌶
Hey Chilli! Thanks dude. I was a little unsure after my first listen but it's grown quickly on me.
I missed you Tom
Bless ya, thanks Hector 😊
@@thegreenman4925 you missed some atrocious albums on is it that bad lol
Great to see you Tom! I'm glad the move is going well so far. I certainly agree, taking a break from YT every now and then can be very refreshing and healthy for you. It's nice to have a bit of freedom instead of being confined to watching/making videos all the time. It'll be great to see you make a few videos for a little while, hope everything is good 😊🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thanks Josh :) yeah it's been v productive having some time away 👍All good here. Hope you've been doing good too.
@thegreenman4925 You're welcome mate! Yeah that's great, I find making a small change like that can make you so much more productive! That's great to hear man, yeah I'm all good thanks 😊🤘🏻
Good to see you back.
Thanks dude
Welcome back
Thanks dude - only back for a short time
Really solid tune. Loving the Daniel Avery remix that was released along with it.
Not Of This Earth at 13.🙄Get out of here! 😂 For me it smashes Crystal planet down the stairs. Satch is one of my fav guitarist growing up. Been listening to him sins I was 12.
Awesome album
For me dark waters is by far the worst album.
@@forefather6974 interesting. I love it! Thanks for stopping by.
@@thegreenman4925 its not bad just my least favourite. I don't like very much Diana cause is more pop sounding singer and her tone is like a little girl sings. Not a bad singer but not for metal. As for the songs some are kind of boring for my taste but ofcourse overall its a good album .
Sacrifice is an absolute gem of a song, that finishes off the album so well.
@kefkaspawn79 yeah absolutely. I think it builds up so well. That last couple of minutes or so is goosebumps inducing!
Hey Green Man, which of these musical styles that start with B is your favorite: ABC Mouse, Britney Spears, Blink-182, Bullet For My Valentine, Beastie Boys, Bizaardvark, Blur, Bring Me The Horizon, Butcher Babies, Bon Jovi, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Billy Joel, Billy Idol, Boys Like Girls, Bob Marley and Barry White.
@thiagopena3258 from that list of bands I'm going to go with Blink 182, Bullet For My Valentine and Blur
Hey Green Man if you were to pick one style, what would it be?
@@thiagopena3258 I'm going to say metal but that's a really tough call
No I mean of the styles that I had you pick from this list, if you were to pick one of them, what would it be?
Really enjoyed watching your queensryche ranking very close to what i would rank them
Thanks dude, glad you enjoyed the ranking 👍🤘
@@thegreenman4925 I will subscribe to your channel 👍
Everything up.to promised land is great. Then everything since the self titled is great minus the fu album. That's 9 amazing albums. Very good that they kicker Geoff out
A very nostalgic one for me. All The Heavy Lifting, Black Tongue, Stargasm, Spectrelight, man I could go on and on. Great album.
One of my favourite of all time
Mortal Kombat!
This album needs more love
Brilliant Album
Great video. What is your fav track on Ethica?
@@fcamiola Probably Ethica Odini
I often listen to this album while working. Absolutely my favorite PF album
The title track is a work of pure genius. Only Lemmy could have written that
I love "Shed by Shred", but I want to know what exactly is the meaning behind the lyrics.
Opeth easily
Hey man, just Keep Talking
Tom! Invincible Shield is killer and I'm not the biggest Judas Priest fan. I’ve tried to watch Immaculate twice and I keep shutting it off. I'm bored to tears. Abigail is amazing! So fun! Rock on, my friend! 🤘🏼
@MikeysMorgue love Invincible Shield! Yeah I can see where you're coming from with Immaculate. I quite liked it. Abigail was a blast Alisha Weir owned that role! Thanks dude 🤘
@@thegreenman4925 Maybe I'll try watching Immaculate again sometime. Keep up the great work! Cheers! 🤘🏼🍻
Abigail suuucks and Immaculate is whatever. Respectfully. 😅 But i did liked Infested! And i wanna recommend 3 horror movies from 2024: - Late Night with the Devil - The First Omen - In a Violent Nature. Metal music this year so far... not so hot yet for me but: - Midnight - Hellish Expectations - Rotting Christ - Pro Xristou - Orden Ogan new album - Schattenfang has a new album as well -Fleshgod Apocalypse next month hype for that one too. Gonna take your recommendations into consideration and i apretiate them!
@EduardoRPreto I need to see In a Violent Nature that sounds good. Haha each to their own as I really enjoyed Abigail. New Fleshgod Apocalypse? Awesome! Thanks dude 👍 🤘
Good mid year list, I will have one for this Friday.
Awesome, will check it out when it's up
@@thegreenman4925 I leave movies to you. I just seen Dune and Inside out 2 this year
@hectorThechilldudeonacouch you haven't missed very much in the horror world this year so far but I am excited about seeing MaXXXine
A little late to the party here, but cool to see you talk about one of my favourite bands of all time. Even though our rankings are pretty different it is just nice to see someone appreciating the greatness of this band. I like every single album from these guys so even though something is placing pretty low doesnt mean i dislike it. My ranking looks like this: 1: Queen Of Time (2018) 2: Under The Red Cloud (2015) 3: Silent Waters (2007) 4: Elegy (1996) 5: Halo (2022) 6: Eclipse (2006) 7: Skyforger (2009) 8: Tales From The Thousand Lakes (1994) 9: Circle (2013) 10: The Beginning Of Times (2011) 11: Am Universum (2001) 12: Karelian Isthmus (1992) 13: Tuonela (1999) 14: Far From The Sun (2003)
High hopes ❤
ive read a lot of comments saying the cd is faulty and the volume is really low/mixing is off. have you noticed any issues?
@danprice6361 yeah the volume is definitely too low. I was a bit disappointed. A shame
Hereditary was truly harrowing. I still think of it from time to time 🌶️
@@livelistenerased very much so. Not light viewing put it that way 😂
@@thegreenman4925 I used a quick cut from that movie in a review on the new trapt album. There was also an in depth analysis on the movie I saw on some YT and I'm glad I saw a bit of it before watching the movie because it does explain a bit more too 🌶️
Summer of '84 is terrific! I hate the DGG Halloween trilogy. Kills is the best of the three, in my opinion. But it has flaws, and I hate that "evil dies tonight" crap. I hated Hereditary. Awesome video, Tom! Cheers! 🤘🏼🍻
Kills is fun at least. You're not alone in disliking Hereditary I have heard a few people say they don't like that film. Do you like Midsommar? Yeah Summer of 84 is great! Thanks Mikey! 👍
@@thegreenman4925 I never watched Midsommar. Yeah. Kills was entertaining with the kills. 😂 I don't like DGG or Jason Blum. They should stay as far away from horror as possible. 🤣
@@TheNothing6 Blumhouse seem to be putting out very dull films lately.
The grass is greener
Forever and ever 🎼🎸
This was my first Motörhead album I bought on vinyl. And still one of my top 5 Motörhead albums
This album intorduced me to Pink Floyd and I saw them live during this tour. I'm of course biased, but this is my favorite album of theirs. Marooned and High Hopes are outstanding and evoke so many emotions and feelings when listened to.
Man I would’ve blasting that album while playing Skyrim on Xbox360. 8.6 I give it
Eventually every album by any artist will be labeled dated. I am a musician and all of my fellow guitar players and I have not of this Earth and Crystal planet as our top two after all of these years. But I do have to say that I love watching videos made by people that enjoy and understand really good music and Joe Satriani being the teacher of Kirk Hammett of metallica, Steve Vai and the lead guitarist of Testament
Not counting Take Cover but counting the EP. 1 Operation Mindcrime 2 Empire 3 Rage For Order 4 Warning 5 Digital Noise Alliance 6 Self titled EP 7 Condition Human 8 Promised Land 9 The Verdict 10 Queensryche LP (2013) 11 Tribe 12 Operation Mindcrime 2 13 Hear In The Now Frontier 14 Q2K 15 American Soldier 16 Frequency Unknown 17 Dedicated To Chaos
Love the rankings, not far off from my own!

Hey Tom. Thank you for all the interesting content you have been uploading and all your efforts put into reviews. I think your channel deserves much more subscribers and views as a reward. I like your style of presenting - relatively concise and to the point. Also your language is very good and accessible to everyone. Hope you will be back soon! You can always readjust and reconsider a scope of reviews you do, so that should benefit you in terms of time spent.😊

Thanks for all the collabs, take your time my friend. i will have Green man withdrawal
You're welcome Hector! Sorry about the withdrawal 😂. Look forward to new is it that bad's?
I completely understand Tom, sometimes there comes a time where proirities have to change. Of course your move has to take priority over doing this. It does take so much time out of people's day, making and even watching videos! Ive seen quite a lot of guys I watch come and go, and recently quite a few people haven't been making videos recently. You're not the only one, and I think it's just general life things honestly. I myself haven't made anywhere near as many vids this year, just life things. Hopefully this won't be goodbye, I'll try to catch some of your remaining videos. Really enjoyed your videos, and it was great being part of some collab videos with you in the past 😊🤘🏻
Thanks Josh :) 💯right. Thanks for the kind words and yeah enjoyed our collabs too👍
@thegreenman4925 You're welcome mate! Yeah man, sometimes YT can't be the main priority and that's totally fine. You're welcome mate, and yeah, those collabs were great! Hope to do more in the future 😁🤘🏻

Thanks Chili - same to you! Sometime when I'm back we should definitely sort a collab
@@thegreenman4925 yea I'd be down for that 🌶️
respect all the work you have done and glad i got to work with you a bit. hope to work with again in the future
Same to you Matt :) Had a blast on is it that bad? Good fun.
Just do them when you feel like. Don't feel pressure or stress that you have to have certain amount of output. Or that you need to have ever improved level of production value. Seen several youtubers try to do too much, too quickly, before they get their "workflow" to a point where it no longer interferes with anything else. This has been very interesting channel to follow. Allowed me to keep up with new album releases, almost automatically, would have probably missed a couple without. Hope everything goes well.
I have really enjoyed your videos and was introduced to a lot of bands I would not have heard of otherwise. For instance, I knew of the label 'shoegaze" but had never listened to any of the bands. Now I have a healthy number in my collection.
That's awesome that I could introduce you to some shoegaze bands. Thanks for the support 👍
Tom! I completely understand. Sometimes, I feel like quitting TH-cam altogether. We all have to do what’s best for us. Rock on, my friend! 🤘🏼
Thanks Mikey! Appreciate that👍
Haven't hear of this one.
Glad we did one last video together before your break. Enjoy your time off.
