It's a ground loop. Plug all the AC into the same place and it should clean up the buzz
@MojaveJazz I grabbed a morley hum exterminator, and it fixed this. Wound up ditching that pedal for a much better pedal though. Radial tonebone iirc

Nice!!!
Something about not having the bullet truss rod just makes the custom shop a no go for me. Really wish they would just put a faux middle pickup in it already, I can't get mine low enough to stay out of the way, so usually i'll just play my scalloped Pro II strat. I think Yngwie does some routing in his guitars to get them lower because they always almost look like a standard single coil, or he switches them to standard single coils
@AmericanNationalist852 I felt the same, but once I played the Custom Shop, I didn't care about the bullet anymore. The playability is so much nicer. And yes, for the pickups I'd imagine Fender likely routes YJM'S guitars deeper in the pickup pockets because there's no way he'd be ok with the middle pickup not going anywhere near flat.
Hey dude, this is Matt. The new owner of your KH-2.
@AmateurHourAuto much appreciated! Thanks for the kind words! Yes, the PMEQ is going to be the best bang for the buck if you solely want to go for Metallica tones. Check out my PMEQ Shootout video to see a couple other reasonably priced PEQ's that give great results without costing a fortune! I've heard mixed results when hearing about the PMEQ being used with Marshalls, but one way to find out!
The Dimarzio HS-3 wins.

@777BULLDOZER thanks for watching and commenting! The PMEQ is an awesome pedal!
Hi do ou think is there a harm for EMG to have 24 volts?
@lincolnbroke that I don't know unfortunately
It’s nice to see someone actually play their own style on these guitars instead of just covering Yngwie licks. I already know how it sounds with Yngwie licks, nobody needs a demo of that.
@sigiligus hey, much appreciated and thanks for watching and commenting! Definitely agree! There's a ton of videos of YJM clones playing his stuff with all of his gear. These strats kick ass for a variety of tones, Far Beyond the Sun of Yngwie 😁 I should pull out one of them that's in drop C# and do some chunky stuff! The clarity you get from these pickups is absolutely bananas. Switching back over to any traditional humbucker after playing these truly shows how muddy the traditional humbucker design is.

Beautiful guitars. I am getting a ST-68-185YM and cannot wait for it to arrive! In my opinions it is just as good as the custom shop version and you will save thousands ahaha.
@axeslinger Much appreciated! Thanks for watching and commenting! The features are the same and while the ST68-185YM is a fantastic guitar, it doesn't compare in build quality to the Custom Shop. I rarely play any of my other YJM's anymore after getting a Custom Shop. They're definitely a cut above.

@1982PHANTOMLORD sorry I couldn't be more helpful my friend. It did take a lot of knob twisting to get here
I don't know if I'm hearing it right But what my ears are hearing in regards to your assessment is that compared to the EMG The Invader sounds Fatter while on The EMG the mid range seems more pronounced. I have the invader in one of my guitars and I like it although I've heard some people claim it can be a little gritty. The sound you have on it though sounds really good to me.
@palmergriffiths1952 thanks for watching and commenting! Metallica tones provide a perfect example. Invader sounds more Master of Puppets, EMG Sounds more And Justice for All. Invader is a little fatter and has a little more sparkle. EMG is more compressed, which pronounces mid range naturally and tapers off the highs and lows. The Het Set is somewhere in the middle and does a convincing job at replicting any era Metallica tone
@@xounlistedxox You're Welcome. Keep up the Great work on your channel 👍Like I said earlier I have the invader myself. It's in an Epiphone Sg and I quite like it. My understanding is that James Hetfield apparently used this pickup on Kill em ' All , Lightning and Puppets than around the touring For Master of Puppets he switched to EMGS or am I wrong on that ? I've looked up The Het set here in Canada where I'm from they're quite expensive. Don't know what they go for in the U.S. I Have an additional question have you ever Tried Glenn Tipton of Judas Priests signature EMG pickup ? I hear it's supposed to be really good.
@@palmergriffiths1952 Thank you, I appreciate that! I've read many places that the invader was possibly used on MoP, but I don't think I've seen any photo evidence of the Invader being used. That said, with how mine sounds with my C++, it's very likely that it was used, at least for MoP. Then, while on tour for MoP allegedly they first received the EMG's. I wound up snagging an LTD Iron Cross with the Het Set and do really like it. As for Tipton pickups, no I haven't tried them
@@xounlistedxox They say they're good. I haven't tried them myself. ESP put out a signature guitar for Glenn Tipton and they have his signature EMGS in it But you can also get his pickups separately. As well I seem to recall that James used a tube screamer on Ride the Lightning to overdrive his Marshall Head I also heard that apparently he didn't like the sound because supposedly he was quoted as saying he found it sounded over saturated. Myself I love the tone he had on Lightning. Just my personal preference but I like it even better than Puppets or Kill em ' All. I also love the Production that Flemming Rasmussen did on Lightning.
@palmergriffiths1952 I've tried a ton of pickups over the years and am happy with my current selection. This includes EMG 81/85/60/Het Set/Jim Root set Duncan EMTY Blackout Duncan Invader Carvin M22SD Active/Passive DiMarzio Super Distortion DiMarzio HS-3/HS-4 Duncan Fury Bill Lawrence L500XL Kiesel Lithium And quite a few others I can't remember lol. My pickup quest has definitely nearly stopped
What is that guitar rack you have back there? Sweet to be able to store the guitars and cases at the same place.

@xounlistedxox absolutely! Now i do have a used v that came with het set, but I swapped after hearing 81 in person. No regrets
@seantalkingthroughthemedia4838 the het set lies perfectly in the middle between the EMG 81 & Duncan Invader IMO, allows you to more easily chase early and late Tallica tones without switching
Thank you Brando for letting us know these detailed measurements. I measured my YJMs too, and I noticed that the nut width is slightly less than the neck width at the same place when using my digital caliper. (The differences are around 0.5-1.00mm sometimes). So just wanna confirm that your results are strictly measured at nuts and frets but the neck's wood edges? Thank you!
@zhangbowst hey, thanks for watching and commenting! Yes, you are correct. I measured at the nut and 21st fret, but used the neck wood as the guide

It was a face palm moment for me for sure haha. I have no idea why I haven't done this video before. Thank you for reminding me! :)
Hey Brandon! I love your videos! I just bought a 2006, very early 3rd generation YJM strat, just wanted to ask, would these have come with a Certificate of Authenticity? I noticed my brand new 2024 YJM did! Second question: Is it possible that the most modern generation of YJM have slightly skinnier necks than the 2nd/3rd generation as I feel the 2024 model has a slightly skinnier necks than and I noticed even the body is more contoured than the 2006 model I just took delivery of Am I bugging? Or is this the same observation you had as well
@amgdenz awesome. Congratulations! As for the COA, I'm not sure when that started, unfortunately. None of mine have a COA, so I'd assume that probably started in the last decade or so. Oddly enough, I've never measured the necks, that could be a great idea for a video!
I'm gonna side with the 7 here. The 5 seems more limited because you have all those mids you can't dial out, while the 7 gives you more range since you can either scoop them out or boost them to be equal with the 5.
@@themodernguitarist great observations! The VII is absolutely fantastic!
@@xounlistedxox Yeah, I've liked everything I heard from the VII so far. And having range with the mids is a plus since sure, you want mids live to cut through... But recordings, I like just enough mids to sit in a mix but not to much to make the instrument sound like a cardboard box.
