I know this is a few years late but I don't understand why this was the recommend subs for Bakemonogatari. A lot of the dialogues have been bothering me since the 2nd episode as they just sounded off given the context of the events surrounding them.

Make Brennan host a show in which he DMs regular people’s first game.

I first watched this series back when you were uploading reactions to it, but I didn't know about you back then. Besides, I was very new to anime back then. I'll admit I kept watching Monogatari due to the nsfw scenes being better produced than any other hentai lol. I never really understood Senjougahara back then. Having her break my understanding of the tsundere archetype so hard made me totally confused on how I actually perceived her. Rewatching the show 4 years later gives me so, so, soooo much to think about on every character, specially Hitagi. She is so much more than just a character. "This is all I have to give you" hit me straaaaight in the feels. I remember this scene for the stars but forgot all the amazing lines said in this episode. She is one of the best written characters I've seen.

Did we ever get character information on how J'er'em'ih... worked? Like was all that different abilities? Was there a "wild magic" table? Did Brennan just make it all up as he went?

I really don't know what it is, but for whatever reason episode 29 is the episode I keep wanting to revisit over and over again, above every other utena episode maybe it's my own experience as a gay person with unrequited love issues like Juri, but it really feels like it's more than that. The way this episode breaks the normal pattern of the show and gives us a duel unlike any of the others just works so completely for me.

So Tanjiro just left the guy (who is already associated with one disappearance) in the street with a kidnapped girl, and a cloth with a bunch of trophies from all the other missing girls? He's gonna have some awkward questions to answer in the morning...

This is my first watchthrough of this show so i don't really know how much of a hot take this is (judging by the comments it probably is). But I honestly believe that Utena was lying to herself when she said "I never expected we'd end up doing what we did" at the end of this episode. When i was watching this episode I immediately knew she was with Akio once i noticed that she's all dolled up, wearing a dress and lipstick, which is something that's pretty out of character for Utena. This implies that she came there with an expectation in mind, and not just to deliver roses. Add to that, that this is not the first time Akio made his move on Utana, they *kissed* in the episode where Utena hurt her foot (ep 30), so she knows for a fact that he's interested in her in that way, he made his intention very clear at that point. So just because Utena was feeling guilty for sleeping with Akio, doesn't make her a grape victim and absolves her of personal accountability like the majority of the comments are making it out to be. As she was certainly aware of this eventuality when she came to him. Especially with how she was presented in this episode, and how she never said said “no” or tried to stop him, not in the first time OR here. And even if the show implied through the metaphorical text on the road that she was saying “stop” in her mind, I honestly believe that that was directed at herself, not Akio. To try and stop herself from betraying herself, to try and stop herself from betraying Anthy’s trust, and to try and stop herself-in her own mind-playing a role in potentially ruining the relationship between Kanae and Akio.

In my opinion none of the characters in Utena are hatable. Touga says and does some heinous stuff but in the next scene he's just a guy, he can make jokes and be nice to Utena occasionally. Even Akio to an extent, they all feel so multidimensional.

So happy this thing survived the entire campaign.

J'er'i'mi was definitely an excuse for Brennan to unleash his weirdest ideas.

The creator of utena wasnt allowed to do alot, like for example he wanted anthy and utena to clerly kiss and end up together, so im comes the movie!

Just a reminder for everybody who forgot, Akio isn't just engaged to Kanae - he was adopted by her parents. That's his adopted mother and adopted sister on top of everything else. Gonna mention something from a later reveal in the series and one from the movie: Touga and Nanami were adopted (show) and Touga's adopted father assaulted him (movie). No dynamic in this show ever occurs just once - we always get it from multiple angles.

This is the second show I dropped as a teenager, only to be amazed by years later with Tee's reactions (the other being Princess Tutu). I think the first time around, the depression and toxic familial relationships were too relatable and weren't something I wanted in fiction, the place I went to so I could run away from all that. Watching it again now was a balm to my soul, essentially facing some of my trauma vicariously through the safe space of fiction. I'm still facing many problems and struggling, but this show made that feel okay. Thank you Tee for the virtual accompaniment and the many pieces of insight you offered along the way.

I think you've really missed the point of Araragi's attitude towards Hanekawa here. Think of the scene when he first started pushing Hanekawa away. Right before that, they were having a normal discussion. When did Araragi's attitude suddenly change? When Hanekawa expressed her desire to see a vampire, something that Araragi just experienced...it's clear that he is pushing her away because he does not want her to get involved in this dangerous world, going so far as to cut off their relationship by showing her that he is deleting her contact info.

I know this whole journey to understand your own self worth and acknowledge your worth in the eyes of others will be painful but this you didn't have to do. Mind you, Oshino stopping Araragi from killing to preserve his humanity has multiple layers.... aside from the obvious "humanity of the human", there is the long held standard that a new vampire in "transition" is not fully turned till they either feed or more often kill. The promise to allow him a chance to regain mortality (humanity) may hinge on that resistance as well. Beating the hunters is one thing, but killing them... FEEDING on them is entirely another....

Yes, (almost) all can be traced back to the crippling pr0n addiction Hanekawa inflicted on Araragi with her near succubus self, able to cause traffic fatalities with the gust of a breeze.... Then he can't "nope out" of helping the vampire lady, and it cascades from here....

Like the meme says: " I can fix him, says girl who is worse." Hanekawa STILL best girl. While it is a season too late she is going to have to put it out there and finally try. It does not help that Araragi Continues to occasionally exhibit the density of stellar matter. (Giant Chicken) If you thought Senjogahara was "forward" in laying the claim to a relationship with Araragi, you ain't seen nothing yet till you Kizu.... More than a few folks are actually angered at Senjogahara for swooping in and "stealing" Araragi.
