“Really really good singers” *shows Taylor swift instead of lady Gaga, Celine Dione or Beyonce 😂* but I learnt a lot from this video but that part made me giggle
I'm 3 yrs late to the party, but what an amazing video!
Please drop a course dude
Hi, why do you say "like a French guy"? Do we naturally speak/sing nasal?
This video was awesome had to subscribe
This is the most helpful video I've ever seen
I wouldn't qualify myself as a great singer but good enough, I have a quite flexible tone, I don't know terminologies, some would say baritone I guess. I used to yell and use a chest voice, while singing quite high. I'd sing AC/DC using a chest voice and belted a lot. It led to fatigue yet it suited us - a decent amateur hair metal band. Since 2015, I've been working on my mixed/head voice but it doesn't always sound as powerful. I think I have the right technique but possibly not the right voice.
Hey sir, i made a 6 year singing transformation. I shout you out at the end for inspiring me!
Thanks i love how you explained us about how to belt just subscribed
I wonder what are the neibors thinking about himdoing this 😂
The dog thought you were in danger that is why it barked
I just want to learn to do vibrato
A lot of it is muscle habit building. I had a vocal teacher who suggested to start by playfully imitating opera singers because their vibrato is very prominent. If you make fun of it through singing you let yourself discover!
@BridgetIsacs then I guess I should do opera thanks I hope I can vibrato soon
THANK YOU SO MUCH This is the only video that’s worked for me
Hey Greg great video it is helping a lot. One question though. When I do this exercise I really can get that clean buzzy sound you talked about in the third tip, with a lot of resonance, and Im able to switch to more closed vowels aswell, but it really does just feel like a stronger falsetto. When I try to add a bit of weight onto that I just lose it and my voice cracks. It feels disconnected from the rest of my register if that makes sense, like if I wanted to get to that position or coordination as you call it in a song I wouldnt be able to without cracking. Let me know if this doesnt make sense
And I feel like I have great control of my chest voice and get regulate the volume and air pressure to my liking up until like an F#/G4, which is where it gets really janky and I lose that control and usually break into falsetto or head voice quite clearly.
Hey man. I really liked your video! I generally don't belt, but because I sing high, I sometimes end up busting my vocal cords and it's usually because 1. I forget to use my chest and 2. I don't open my mouth wide enough hahahaha. In saying that, I'm going to give your methods a try! Many thanks 😀
Unrelated, but your lisp is really nice.
Bruno mars is incredible for sure.....................
This is a result of which vowels you use. In the beginning the "controoool" with less nasality the ooooo sounds like aaaaaa, which is a less nasal vowel, which removes nasality.
WHEN YOU USED HARRY STYLES AS AN EXAMPLE!!! Literally so sigma🐺🤣
Yeah, no, but doing that nay nay nay exercise regularly has really developed the resonance in your mask. That may not have been the only exercise you've practiced over the years, but it definitely shows its effects in this video. Your voice sounds so much fuller and more projected now, and the tone has improved dramatically too
love u
I may be wrong here, but I have the impression that you (guy from studio west) do not hold your tongue in the most " Correct' natural position when you talk. Just like with Jamie Oliver (the famous cheff/cook guy) , it's pretty much just laying down there even if you talk, rather than making the movements it typically makes. I do not know if this has bad influences, as not having correct tongue posture can affect the shape of your skull, like can be seen with typical mouth breathers. However, your face shape does not suggest you are a typical mouth breather, so I'm curious to know if you know what I'm talking about ,never noticed it or something else?
This video is great. I really like your calm and measured explanation of the theory and exercises. I find a lot of the videos on singing technique seem to be weighty with emotion. Sometimes the tutors just straight up rant about other tutors or techniques, or make you feel terrified about damaging your voice. Your style is refreshing
This is one great singing lesson for me today ! thanks
<3
When the new musical I'm apart of has a lot of "E" and "Oo" belting vowels 😭 I'm so screwed
I thought you weren't supposed to use your stomach. I was told that was bad practice and bad for breath control. Were they wrong?
Can somebody please explain the exercises he was talking about?
Nice just to hear someone practicing exercises that create the final product that we hear at the end 🤙
this is gold! absolute gem of content
If more cord closure (because of the higher breath pressure) doesn’t that strain your voice to reach the higher notes? How can I have more closure without straining/squeezing my voice? Thanks
So is Robert Plant belting in 'Black Dog' and 'Rock n Roll'? Whatever it is he's doing there, is there a safe way to do same? Asking as I'm just recovering from a triple hernia op'. Not kidding.
I've struggled to make my Falsetto clear for so long. This video has been incredibly helpful!!
bro, I was working on a vocal performance degree and couldn't get this kind of information out of my professors. This video is f*ckn incredible.

What is the application you use to read the vocal spectrum?
What you discuss is something not many vocal teachers discuss. Slight nitpick. I wish you didn't make it sound like the vocal cords are the only part of your body resisting air flow. It is only one of the parts. You literally demonstrate this in the video with the rib cage pushing out to the side and the solar plexus pushing out. That is the torso helping out with resisting air flow. So just a nitpick with the explanation. Great video!
I'll never be able to, but I wanna belt like Jesse Cash (ERRA) or Austin Carlile (Of Mice & Men). With a little fry in there almost like they're about to scream (check out Second and Sebring). It sounds so fucking cool. I don't know if that's even belting, but I can't find any lessons on it. I don't wanna sound like an 80s rock singer "And I riiiiide!" Lol
I think I've watched a thousand of videos on mixed voice but this is the one I think really helped me. Thanks a lot
This tutorial gives me, as a silent refluxer, the possibility to hit high notes as a man
Came here to learn mix, ended up actually understanding what breath support actually means!
Brooo Thank you so Much, I've finally Realized what was wrong when i was singing, Thanks so much!!
i found my vibrato by imitating police sirens
best vocal coach on the net. No BS, just the stuff that actually works. And seems like a very nice young gentleman.
What about raising soft palate? Using NG?
As a contralto, do i follow the mans 1 or women's 😅 my lowest note is b2 😂
What a cruel fate that I'm just now seeing this in October 😔 will there be another one any time soon?
This is like old school opera singing technique. There is chest voice participation in their "head voice". This is not true of the majority of modern opera singers (I only know of one who uses the old school technique Saoia Hernandez).
What is software at 7:52
Amazing... 🎉
