- The Toronto Maple Leafs finally got Nick Robertson to put pen to paper on his contract, but it appears the story has more to come. Mike DiStefano and David Morassutti give their thoughts on Robertson ending his stalemate with the Leafs and what comes next, as reports suggest a trade isn't out of the question. Mike and Dave then shift gears to the report that Max Pacioretty is close to joining the Leafs along with Jani Hakanpaa. Should there be a concern with the average age of the Leafs roster? Mike and Dave discuss that. To end the show, Mike and Dave preview the roster for the prospect showdown against the Montreal Canadiens by looking at the players they are looking forward to seeing.

I can see both Marner and Tavares having big Seasons. Buffalo, NYR. NYI. New Jersey all getting in their ears, through third parties. Columbus will be going all in on Marner, and Ottawa may be sniffing for Tavares.... So its was a good idea to sign Robertson and hope Knies takes a big step.
How about a line of Patches, Tavaris & Marner?
I think they're looking at Pacioretty for the playoffs and will have maybe 40-50 games during the season, but he scores during the playoffs
A team could of wanted him but leafs may of not been willing to trade him when hes not on contract as they would get less for him ... maybe the whole purpose of signing him was to make the trade more lucrative for the leafs

Young guys don't win cups! Foot speed doesn't matter too much in playoffs. How sold is Edmontons roster???

Robertson has a lot of potential. Easily could get 50+ points, playing 15 minutes a night in the top 6. But he disappears in the playoffs as the chances he gets and creates in the regular season don't exist in the playoffs. Playoffs especially the further you go become a full on war no skill

Max is too broken down, and Robertson is bad defensively, he won't fit in well in a Berube system. Both are not ideal long term LW solutions. Treliving needs to make an in season trade for a veteran who still has game left.
Berube helped convince Robertson to Sign, so he may be getting more minutes.

Young guys make a LOT of mistakes in playoffs. Everyone complains about the Leafs getting knocked out of the playoffs early... and then in the next breath want to inject a bunch of Young guys. You think that's gonna get you over the hump??? A bunch of young guys ADDING to the mistakes. Mistakes that you have to keep to NIL to win a game?
The new talent if ready needs to play just can't keep them down and bring in old guys that has what they been doing and that hasn't worked other teams that won the cup or long runs had rookies and 2 and third year players you need a mix you don't make any sense
