s85 Ionic current controller failed, here's how I handled it
My car has 110,000 miles, so it was only a matter of time before an ionic current controller failed. This video is just an illustration of how I handled it to maybe provide some insight for someone else to diagnose a similar problem.

After my Blackstone laboratories oil sample reading, I decided to get the rod bearings done due to the lead content in the sample. I went to Above and Beyond Eurowerks in San Antonio and they did a fantastic job. Thanks! This is the only youtube vid ive seen with an explanation of the black donut thing on the strut top! Its fastened with only 15ft lbs but has high strength loktite! Mine is as tight as anyghing! Just ordered from island 4x4 before i saw this vid!!!!!!!
Thank you for the comment. I hope you get a good set from island 4x4, apparently my defect was a fluke- as mentioned in the video I ended up having to order one from Arnott. It did cost me extra, of course, but I got the truck running. I'm glad the video was of good use to you. 😉👍
Well done, sir! Keep that V10 alive and thriving!
Thank you sir, I certainly will. 😉👍
i changed my regulator and now the charging malfunction comes on constantly. i put a new valeo one in there
I hate to say it buddy, but it sounds like you may have done something wrong. The regulator is the weak link in the alternator, so once you replace that, it should work just fine. I know, you certainly don't want to hear this, but you may have to take it all apart and double-check everything.
@@CentTxLiving I took it out and realized the tab wasnt pushed in all the way so the prongs didnt come out. Took 30mins to change the second time
@FreshieAlbanian That is fantastic that you found that. So I trust the alternator is working as designed now?
Hey man, I'm doing this on a 2011, I was getting a cross articulation error, had no idea the values needed to be within 20 side to side. The thing is, mine aren't. They're seemingly much further apart than 20. Have you ever seen that issue? Is there a way to reset everything to factory spec and start fresh? Any help would be incredible. Thanks!
It sounds like you need to calibrate all the ride heights again and make sure there within that 20 threshold. Some of the things to be very careful about: is the truck sitting on perfectly level ground, are all of your height sensors good, do you have the suspension set to tight tolerance for calibration. Think of this as one of those evolutions that's very simple yet, many things can go wrong. 😬🤷♂️
lmao I thought i was going insane. I have newer suspension with alignment and camber arms and noticed the hum after getting the imoves 3. They have this same exact hum noise and I thought I had worn wheel bearings but it didnt have any other symptoms or but this exact slight hum even after rotating and balancing. Glad it’s just the tires and not something dangerous.
😆👍 glad I can offer some sanity. Lol
How do you change the bottom bulb in the corner ??
I'm not sure I fully understand the question; the bulbs were replaced with LED's in the new turn signals.
I don’t have any resistors on my front turn signals I used some switchback led bulbs …and they worked perfectly without resistors… now in my rear I’m running the factory brake bulbs and led reverse lights (No resistors ) my third brake light has been replaced with a whole led housing and no torque converter issues.. (96 ford f150 Eddie Bauer) everything is running smoothly
👍that's great. The reverse bulbs didn't need resistors, nor the brake bulbs, but the third brake light needed them on my truck. Glad you found the video useful. Thanks for the feedback.
She is looking good!
Thanks. 😊
What torque spec did you put that axle nut on at?
I don't remember that, I think it was like 250ft lbs or something like that. 🤔
I would never put spacers in the front It's dangerous as more weight and more wear on your bearings and strut. On top of that the wheels aren't forged. Get forged wheels if you want to add spacers because the compensates for the weight.
Cool. I appreciate your input. I'll do my thing and you can do your thing. 👍
@@CentTxLiving just stating facts. Nothing negative was in my intentions.
You're right, I did get a little froggy. I have ran wheel spacers on the fronts of my cars for years and have never had a single problem. And as far as wheelbearing issues , I'm running two degrees negative camber front and rear, so I'm good with wheel bearing wear to achieve my desired neutral handling. Besides, the wheel spacers increase the front track width to match the rears for added handling benefits. This set up is harder on bearings and tires, but the handing is much better than stock.
@@CentTxLiving nice. Are planning on getting rotary forged or forged wheels in the future?
Mine are rotary forged- much lighter than stock. That made a very noticeable difference.
bro i give you any error at the scream ?

Come again? How do the brake lights affect the torque converter? I'm asking because I have a '96.
I was wondering the same thing????
They don't, they affect the cruise control.
This was a gem for me! My rear washer hasn't sprayed for 2 years.

“Go Army, Beat Navy!” Thanks for the vid!

Was the noise like a ticking or like a playing card flapping against bicycle spokes? Got louder or quieter with the revs?
It was a very slight ticking noise at idle, which turned into more of the card in the spokes sound under heavy load.
Yeah, that matches what I'm hearing. Thanks@@CentTxLiving
@jonrobinson6851 yes sir
I need a video on the back ones not eg front everyone only doing the front
It's probably because the rear air bags are crazy simple to change. Seriously, they take no time at all to swap out.
Have you replaced it with a newer one yet?
No I haven't, bought a house, started a new job and been busy. I haven't even made a video in long while. Sorry, buddy. I do plan on getting back to it this weekend.
2010 are so so so rare, seems like people stop ordering them from 2008 and so knowing the next m5 was about to be release in 2011

Just a regular wifi type I got off ebay.
I’m getting high battery drain , could this be the problem
It could be, that's what the situation was with my car.
I vacuum my RES 322 oil with a vacuum tank from Harbor Tools. No spill, no getting underneath. You didn't show the oil filter removal. I do it from behind the grille.
So it feels even more like a cloud, that's why I got a Range Rover in the first place, these things float down the highway

The horn fuse is intact and I removed the horn and tested it with the battery and it is working. Where should I check on the steering wheel? Could the szl module be faulty
It was ringing when I turned the steering wheel to the left, but it wasn't ringing when I turned the steering wheel straight. it doesn't work at all anymore
Oh, I see now. I think you may have an issue with the horn contact. I would check that.
only the horn does not work
This bodystyle (e60) was known for horn failure. I replaced mine and didn't have another problem.
Thanks
In my e60 vehicle, the horn sometimes sounded and sometimes did not. It's completely broken now. Could this be the reason
I really doubt it, but it will mess with servotronic steering, traction control and other related systems.
What are the symptoms of bad shocks in the rear of these, i just got one and looking to refresh some stuff
My symptoms were pretty a typical. The rear end just began to bounce excessively over bumps, the rear end made a creaking noise when I hit bumps. As it turns out, the shocks and the bushes were worn.
Just curious, what exact exhaust did you had when you did tjat last pull at 1:07? Thats the classic symphony I want to get out of my E60 S85.
That exhaust set up was gutted header's, a supersprint x pipe, and modified mufflers where one of them is removed on each side and a resonator put in its place. Thanks for the comment. 😁👍
One of the Best down to earth Tutorials I have seen While some others make it seem hard, you make it easy Great job!
Thank you sir. 😁👍
Great video. Really solid advice. Because they’re so great I guess there’s a temptation to throw money at them in preventative maintenance. Although they’re surprisingly forgiving to work on DIY. But your point about the hose replacement is spot on. I got the belts done on my 4.4 at 150k though.
👍 thank you watching, I appreciate the feedback.
This is a great and logical method, but what tow in/out do you set the wheel at ?
If anything, i'm trying to reach zero toe/ out, but I do favor the toe in if any. The bigger picture is to get the alignment as close as possible, then you can get the car to a shop and have it set to closer tolerances. The added bonus to these cars is that all you have to worry about is the toe in/out and not camber or caster because they are preset.
Do you have a link for the led bulbs
Sorry, I just found some bulbs on ebay that had good reviews. 🤷♂️
Also use the same method, it works well. I also use axle stands. I also ensure the steering wheel remains central. A very good demonstration. Thanks.
Thank you sir.

Hey buddy i have a 2011 bmw x6m and iam having the servotronic malfunction. I changed the servotronic sensor which is located next to the rack in pinion and i still have the same problem any advice.
If your car is tuned, that might be messing with your servotronic, that turned out to be my issue several months later. Also, you may need to have it reloaded so the system can re-calibrate. If you know anyone good with bmw service software, they should be able to help. Without using the bmw service software it's really tough to say. I wish I had a better answer bud, but these cars are pretty sensitive with sensors and faults.
@@CentTxLiving its factory tuned not aftermarket. I have not done nothing to it

Are you still liking the big 33s?
I sold the rover almost a year ago, and aside from the gear ratio concern with bigger tires, I really liked the 33's. In fact, I was gonna go with the bigger suspension lift and 35's. 😁👍
@@CentTxLiving Why did you sell? What was the specific concern with the gear ratio?
@Jon Robinson no, the rover was great, I was just at a point in life where I needed a truck. But, I'm seriously thinking getting another, but a 5 litter supercharged version this time.
@@CentTxLiving Well, you’ve inspired me to order a set of 33”s today. Thank you, sir.
That's great. I think you'll like them. Remember I added about half an inch to the rear ride height just to help the ride and the squatting under acceleration. Rsw solutions has the perfect program for that with excellent tutorials.

Would same procedure work on a 05 LR3?
hi, I have question if you can help me with? 08 RR SC, ABS break light is on + the suspension is not working (lowered), I tried to reset it, but it won't reset. how can you help me with this problem?
Been doing string alignments for years and even do them on 8x8....although they are a little more forgiving. One thing you could do to make your front adjustment easier and not have to roll the vehicle back and forth is grab four cheap peel and stick floor tiles (the 12 x 12s). Grease the face of each tile, place the greased surfaces together so you have a slip surface that you can place under your front tires to roll over. That way you your adjustments will be more precise with less influence from other mechanical anchor-point resistance and you won't have to roll the vehicle back and forth all the time.
